@@caribbaviator7058 mine is on the 19th as well haha. My dpe is pretty tough on making sure we have the ground knowledge but I've heard he is fair all around
One thing I found on my recent ppl checkride was all of the abbreviations in TAFs I did not know. DPE was definitely not pleased with my lack of knowledge in the TAF reading department. FYI to the fellow Soon to be private pilots.
hey cheese, i just started my ppl training and having my first flight in a week or so and ive been studying like crazy and its really great and i appreciate these mock checkrides, they really just give me almost a reality check to make sure im fully ready for the rest of my training and eventually the checkride
I am just about to schedule my checkride I totally love this! I am watching all of them and genuinely appreciate the time you spend doing these for the pilot community! My instructor says it could take 4-6 weeks to get me a DPE so i will be watching these a lot in the meantime. Wish there were more DPE's
The DPE is way to nice and easy. Do not trust RUclips. It will be much more difficult. Also, not that it's closed book. Using the FAR-AIM to look up something is not allowed.
My Private Check ride was supposed to be today but got canceled due to my DPE being involved in a landing gear failure landing yesterday 😅. So I’m back to the books. Love these videos!
All these checkride prep videos im seeing popping up in the past year is something I wish I had getting ready for my checkride in 2023. My fellow student pilots, utilize all the helpful videos like this one and the rest. Thank you!

@@cheesepilot thanks I’ll check it out. Would love for you to make a video going over the sectionals in great detail. That’s one part I’m lacking in, couldn’t really find a good video on that subject so far.
Here is a fun question. my plane is located at KFQD there is a TFR in place 0-400 do to rescue operations going on here in NC my question is can I get my plane out when the airport is under said TFR and closed to non essential personnel. (f-in black hawks are trashing my plane. )
Hi there. Thanks for the videos. I’m preparing for my check ride. I got a question. “If you are spinning to your right, you’ll be just above your stall speed, cause that’s where your Pito tube is.” Why is that? What does it have to do with pitotube?
Just take a breath and remember you are in training to learn mistakes and missteps are part of the process and should be seen as an opportunity to learn something new
This is how it should look relative to where he's at in his training and on the way to passing when the time comes.. if it were the night before the check ride, not so much
I really enjoy your videos, but here's a suggestion if you want to keep people engaged with your channel: do a deep dive mock oral instead of just asking the usual questions. There is a ton of stuff on the ACS that a DPE could ask, and you could probably spend an entire hour diving deep into a topic like weather (as an example). Like I said, I like your videos, but there's only so many times you can listen to a student pilot recite the AROW documents before you tune out.
go check the play list of mock check rides there might be one there im not sure ive done alot of them and kinda lost track of which ones are which at this point haha
Exactly unless y'all are going with a common purpose as a private pilot you can no offer transportation for compensation or hire and the Faa fews flight time as compensation
@@cheesepiloteven if said mother doesn’t pay for anything? Thanks for your clarification on this. I’m in checkride prep and thought I understood the limitations but now I’m not too sure.
@@dennish5590 the FAA views flight time as compensation i know it seems ridiculous but flight time is expensive and if i offered you 5 hours of flight time youd take it and relate it to money saved right?
There’s no Emergency section in the POH because they know the secret. And the secret tells you that the more you focus on things the more they come to you. Good POH Publishers 😂😂😂
i couldnt disagree more about focus on the things as they come to you. checklists are written in order for a reason thats why every modern POH you look at has an emergency section and items should be accomplished in order. with out proper check list procedures people lose focus and start smashing buttons indiscriminately. checklists save lives.
@@ItsCamaro3 Ok, that's another story if he is only 28 hours. He did good for only 28 hours. PS, he will have to know all of this by memory and not be able to use the FAR-AIM or refer to weather chart legends.
@@mymyrrah No. The ACS only states that you can use the ACS. The ACS does state reference material for each task. That is reference material to study, not to use during the oral. The DPE is the sole judge if any of the FAA material is allowed to be referenced during the test. So forget bringing that big tabbed up FAR-AIM. You should know the information by memory.
This checkride is very simple and easy. Do not trust you tube. I just had a checkride and it was closed book and they asked more difficult. Again you can not use your FAR-AIM to answer any questions. Besides, you should know all of 61 and flight rules, VFR and airspace by memory. This guy is way to nice also.
All of my plans of action have been approved by the standards department of und aerospace foundation which is a 141 school with examination authority from the FAA to issue certificates based on in house evaluations. @@cheesepilot I am just saying, We fly in Southern CA as we have the most crowded and challenging airspace. The DPE's down here want you to know the information without having to look anything up. Yes, It's up to the DPE's. I know this from experience and what my flight school says. I knew most of the material. I tried to look up a answer regarding weather to get more details. Also, I was not able to use the chart legends in AWC. I need to know them all for FOG, rain, drizzle. I need to know all the items in a Cigmet. I was missing freezing levels and Low level Wind shear potential below 2000 Feet AGL. I flipped open the AIM in 5 seconds and the DPE stated to put the book away. I was not allowed to look at the Legend for the Wind barb Metar on the Observations page. The oral is about 3.5 hours long and the flight is about 2.5 hours. Also, no go around for a short field unless you have to do a go around do to a reason such as another aircraft on the runway. You only get one shot for a short field landing. Another not, If you are not in a stable approach or some other issue, than you also need to go around and that is an automatic disapproval. I am just giving the facts and my real world experience. 🙂
@@cheesepilot Also, if you guess or try to BS the DPE, he will give you a disapproval. You need to study very hard in order to be able to answer the questions by memory. It's that simple. You have to be able to ask for transitions thru airspace withen seconds after taking off before you end up flying into it. Also there is a lot of Bravo and have to ask for clearance to go thru Bravo. They will not always give you a clearance. Also do not bump the Charlie shelf, TFR's and all kinds of special use airspace.
