    This is awesome! I’ve got my instrument checkride tomorrow so it’s perfect for study material.
    Update: I passed! The part about MON airports was extremely helpful and I wouldn't have known how to effectively explain it without this video.

    I got my ppl at 72 hrs. I'm at 104 and need 20 more cross country hrs for instrument. I'm 90% ready for my written. But am in no rush. I didn't solo until around 40 hrs.
    I did my ppl at maui, kahalui, its always windy there so it's a challenge to get to solo safely.
    Thanks for this video

    If the final approach course is more than 30 degrees off the runway heading it will drive the approach to only have circling minimums with a letter at the end of the title. There are approaches that are circling only that ARE within 30 degrees of runway heading, too. See VOR-A at KEAT. A second restrictor besides final approach alignment is descent criteria from the FAF. If it's more than 400 feet for NM then you will only have circling minimums. Another good oral question is where is the final approach point when there is no FAF, like on the VOR-A into KEAT.

      @cheesepilot  19 дней назад

      Thanks for pointing that one out to me as for where is the FAF if it doesn’t say FAF it’s the Maltese cross

    16:40 from my understanding, the FAR only specifies that the safety pilot has to be certified in the appropriate category and class aircraft, and complex/high performance endorsements are not considered a requirement as per 91.109 c

    • @cheesepilot
      @cheesepilot  17 дней назад

      the safety pilot is acting as PIC so my understanding is that when someone is acting as PIC they need to be qualified to operate the aircraft

    • @alexsze5455
      @alexsze5455 10 дней назад

      The pilot with the endorsement is “acting” as PIC, even when under the hood. Herman (2009 legal interpretation). Safety pilot doesnt need to have the high performance endorsement. But thats from the attorneys not from me. Im sure people will comment with their legal opinions.

    • @DennisCOSMIC
      @DennisCOSMIC 2 дня назад

      If you're logging PIC time in your logbook, the safety pilot needs to have a high performance endorsement. No person may act as PIC unless that person has received ground/flight training and received a one time endorsement. 61.31(f)(1) If the safety pilot doesn't have a high performance endorsement it would be SIC since they are a required crew member.

    I was under the impression that "loss of integrity" is in regards to RAIM. Am I wrong? It is WAAS?

    • @benji7260
      @benji7260 4 дня назад

      you are right LOI is for RAIM, so can not do LNAV either. If loss of WASS, there will be other alerts, for example, 'LPV' turn to 'LNAV', or message on the PFD

  • @nickmyatt

    my flight school has G1000 C172 that are non waas. im prepping for my instrument checkride and have never even seen a waas g1000 lol

    • @cheesepilot
      @cheesepilot  24 дня назад +2

      I guess im spoiled by doing a buncha training in a g1000 with waas

    Lots of pre 2006 G1000 are all non-WAAS and it’s annoying 😂

    As a military pilot. I believe he would have passed with some of the DPE's in my area.

    I think safety pilot does not need endorsements for the aircraft. 91.109 only requires the safety pilot to have PPL on the category and ratings of the airplane. Therefore any ASEL PPL should be able to act as a safety pilot in SR22T.

    • @cheesepilot
      @cheesepilot  Месяц назад +1

      The issue comes from the safety pilot acting as pic during the portion of flight with the view limiting device

      SR22T would require a high horsepower endorsment however.

    I know it’s rare to see waas fail but here in El Paso it’s actually quite common. The 430 says loss of gps. DEAD RECKONING. Press clr to continue.
    It’s from the gps jamming ops the military conducts
