    I really like this video because you explain what the right answer is after a wrong one. Other mock oral videos just continue without explaining whether it’s right or wrong and why.

    I'm a CFII and have to go through this routinely with students. This was well done. I'm going to include some of this on my next mock oral. I especially appreciated the offscreen presenters comments. Her responses were excellent (clear and concise).

    I've watched a lot of these mock oral exams on RUclips, and this is one of the better ones. If the student answers incorrectly, the examiner will say what the correct answer is. This is helpful! It is amazing to me that other channels (e.g., Gold Seal Flight Training) think an hour long video full of incorrect answers in somehow valuable to people.

    I feel like this was more confusing than helpful because of all of the guessing.
    EDIT: after about 1 month of studying and having my check ride in a couple of days, rewatching this video showed me that this guy is extremely prepared. It was more confusing at the beginning of my check ride study. Then it was at the period. The video was edited better than most of the other ones I've seen. Thanks!

    This is an awesome video! It helped me get an idea of what a PPL checkride will be like. I noticed some things that were mentioned incorrectly by mistake because hey, we're only human after all lol. Magnetic Deviation card shows deviation, not variation. The mock oral exams I've found on youtube are generally great. This one in particular is excellent though because they state what the correct answer is after each question. There are too many mock oral exam videos where they either don't state the right answer at all, or they wait until the very end of the mock exam and then only go over a few corrections - I think that can lead to problems for prospective pilots watching those videos.

    I don't really agree with the statement that TAS increase even for a little in ground effect during landing; on short final right before entering ground effect, throttle is reduced, causing drag to be greater than thrust. This is the exact intent of the round out, to decelerate the aircraft as it approaches the runway. As the aircraft enters ground effect, induced drag is severely reduced, but not to the point where it would become lower than thrust forces (which are close to zero when the engine is idling at low speeds). I would agree that TAS deceleration is reduced when the aircraft enters ground effect, but I wouldn't agree that it actually ever increases.
    The argument would be different at constant thrust, say on a low pass over the runway in ground effect.
    Great video by the way! Very instructive

      Incorrect, do not confuse words "valid" and "issued". Both Non-Convective SIGMETs (WS) and Convective SIGMETs (WST) are unschedule products, issued as necessary. WS when issue are valid for 4 hours (except SIGMETs associated with Tropical Cyclones and volcanic ash which are valid for 6 hours). On the other hand WST with continuing phenomenon will be reissued every hour.

    I have already shared this video with other people I know who are starting their ppl to assist them.
    Great job on separating the section for private pilots and PPl to go back and refresh; it makes it easier to find.

    The 91.205 reference at the 18:15 mark is inaccurate. My DPE failed me on this part for my PPL ground portion. I couldn’t remember every item by heart but advised him that it could be located in 91.205. I asked him to allow me to go to that section in the FAR and he said this was not an open book quiz and then proceeded to explain I failed and the checkride was over. This is a DPE in central Florida and the checkride was 12.16.22.

    I had a quick question about the IMSAFE checklist, the student said external pressures and then was corrected with eating/emotion. I had a CFI a couple of years ago who taught me that the E was eating/emotion, another CFI told me that its all 3, but my current CFI says that its only external pressures. I've always kinda just said all 3 because especially to me all 3 are worthy factors to be on that checklist

    Prepping for my PPL check ride soon. Been very useful to watch mock oral exams like this, but yikes…the amount of times this applicant had to be corrected did not give me a lot of confidence in his knowledge! Don’t mean to bash the guy, but is this acceptable for an oral exam? Are DPEs that lax? I feel like there were just too many errors in his answers for a DPE to move on to the practical test. Maybe I’m over thinking it, but I think I’d be feel very unsure of myself as pilot if I had to be corrected this many times. Any thoughts??

    • @BATAviation
      @BATAviation  Год назад

      That was his mock check Road that we do before every check ride. Afterwards we will review any discrepancies and re-train/study for them yes. He definitely passed his check ride. We highly recommend learning as much as possible, but also knowing where to look things up in the event that there is something that you forgot or Have trouble remembering. Your DP will not expect you to know everything, but have a strong knowledge and know where to look things up. I private pilot license is a license to learn. If you know who you will be taking your exam with then we recommend speaking to others, who have already taken their exam with the same GPE, and finding out what questions that he asked. That will help you know which areas you really need to study at four so you can pass with flying colors.
