I’m a project manager for an oil and gas company here on the gulf coast of Texas and one of the hardest things I had to learn to do is rely on my team members/employees. Once I learned to do that my production increase was insane

First off your kicking ass. Second go to a local bait shop and work a deal on them buying the dead crabs as bait crabs as they can't be consumed but make excellent bait for alot of fish. That will recoupe money for the dead. Not all but some. Then figure out a rotation on your stock. That cold air is closer to the floor on your trailer so those crabs will probably last a little longer ger being cooler. Helps to rotate them around.

oh soft shell crabs are the best. Here where I live in New England. I pay $12 a crab when the store has them, which is a very small window. I also have to make sure they are not the ones from China. (those are sometimes in the frozen section). When I get back to Maryland to visit, soft shell crabs, and I don't care what they cost as long as they are from Maryland.

That's the hook here Luke. So I went from just me, struggling day to day to 46 staff and 400 contractors. I don't even manage the staff or the contractors. They do that. I just have a good time. For a RUclips channel you can hire staff for a fraction of the price in other countries.Take a look at Sonny from the Best Ever Food Review Show with 10m subscribers and his production team is all Vietnamese. Understand what you add to your channel and don't waste your time on the things that add less value. It's two things: your work ethic (amazing) and your personality (amazing). What don't you need to do? The editing and the sales. Get a distributor, get people to do that. Focus on what makes you money. I might just be me but one day, after many years, you will be an over night success. Psssst, here's how. Send crabs. Do not send flowers, do not send chocolate, send crabs. You can literally invent the meaning behind send crabs.

I'm glad that Lindsey is still there for you she seems like a really sweet Young lady. I know and I can appreciate what you are doing you are working very hand I love to see that. I heard you mention that you were trying to train other people I am so happy to hear that that will take a big relief off you can hopefully you can spend that extra time off with Lindsey because I know she would like to spend as much time as she can with you and this is the important time for you guys to get to know each other the best you can. I would hate to see her walk away just because you're not spending enough time with her and she's getting bored. Probster her and also to you. Sometimes you just need to let Step back a second and Focus on yourself that is very important to have me time also.
Maybe you have somebody at your booth selling the crabs for you during the week or weekend possibly somebody that is retired that can use a few extra dollars because everything is getting kind of tough out there. Just a suggestion not telling you how to run your life or your business.
I'm actually very proud of What you are doing at your age. I'm sure you'd have a few people that you went to school with are hung around with that are your age and they are still Living with mommy and daddy and not working a day. You know what I mean.
Good luck I just always remember to be safe out there.

On the preorders, if you force them to venmo you at least half the $ up front on ordering, your leftover rate would drop tremendously and you'd make up the cost of the lost/stale inventory. Only value people who value you and your work.

    Don't get burned out Luke.
The best part is you have Lindsay beside you, supporting you on this adventure. Make sure she knows she's valued.
    💙🦀 💙
At first when you mentioned you did preorders I couldn't help but think about the knuckleheads who would order pizza's to get delivered to a house who didn't order it. So.. how many times has that happened with your preorders? Someone ordering them as a prank. Sucks people have to be like that.
    🤛 👊 🤜
    I admire your determination!
I can see you love what you do! If you don't enjoy and have fun at your job it's not worth it. I have 50 employees, some days are rough of course but I enjoy what I do.
I'm going to order some crabs in hopes it will help you buy some new equipment. I know those refer trailers aren't cheap.
One question, during the off season..is this when you take time off? Vacation time? Relaxation time? That is important to have also! Mentally and physically!

If it was easy to own and run your own business, everyone would do it. I started a few little business ventures and found that I just don't have the personality or drive that an owner needs. I think I just didn't have mentors or other businesses to learn from, and it became frustrating. But my 11 at the time, grandson, started a cotton candy business and made more money in a weekend than most people make in a week paycheck. He doesn't have much for overhead, and his initial investment was less than $500. Smart kid.
Anyway, you have the drive and what it takes to run your own business, Luke. Just have to find the right MOJO to keep her moving. And that's the trick.

Our family friend sunk his life savings into starting an oyster company in northern Washington. Aside from all the equipment, permits and normal corporate red tape, the result was 50 huge foam rafts anchored below the water with oyster seed (babies) spread on them. Then you wait and monitor growth constantly. It was joyous when he announced the date for the harvest. He set off with a flotilla of local helpers and their boats. But when the gos indicated they were on his leased area there was nothing to be found. Some local waited until the exact moment and then stole everything. Of course all the locals were in on it. This was their plan all along. Of course no one saw or heard anything. Nothing was ever found, no charges were ever filed. Bet loss a half a million dollars. They moved to Arizona and with their retirements and social security lived out the remainder of their lives.

No matter how hard a man works, he can only earn what he can earn. To earn more, you have to find a way to duplicate your effort. That means employees and delegation. Sounds like you're on the right track. No one will do it as good as you, or so you think, but eventually, you land on people who can. That's the magic... Thanks for sharing your process. Interesting and inspiring to see a young person doing it right...

I grew up in Virigina for a good portion of my life, my grandparents had a house on the Potomac river near the Chesapeake Bay. If you pass Coles Point Marina heading up river, you went to far. I got some blue crabs last week here in Florida and let me tell you, what a disappointment. The Maryland/Virginia blue crabs are so much better. You can taste the difference. I am rooting for you....

a chain link fence stretcher, cut to length, with 3 holes, put inside the Chinesium steel pop-up tent strut usually solves the issue for me.

The hardest part, once others are taught how to do something, is trusting in them to do it correctly and safely. It seems like nothing will get done right unless you do it yourself but you have to trust in their abilities.

This right here is the hard part of being a business owner who built it all… trusting others to do it right stopped my Dad from growing his business even further than he already did. I learned that from him, you have to expect mistakes and do your homework up front. Plan to teach, always, and define your risks and mitigation plans for when they actualize. Once you do that you’ve already managed through the mistakes and trust issues before they even happen, and worked out the major costs for when they do. And you captured it so others can learn from and expand that list for you. It multiplies your multiplying factors.

Idk how blies are to lobster but if they are fresh dies you should have a cooker to cook them, but idk how the paperwork is there compared to here, but definitely something you should look in to and expand in
