Good to see a conversation between rec and commercial. I don't often get to hear from watermen but I always learn something when I get their perspective.
I discovered Luke about a year ago due to my love of Blue Crabs. I grew up in Delaware and moved to Wisconsin in the late 80's and can't get Blue Crabs here. I live vicariously through Lukes's channel and am very proud of this young man and everything he has built.
I use to commercial fish when I was your age back in th 70s and 80s great time . I always had to keep recreational boaters in mind. Thanks for the great vedios to educate boaters
I have a great amount of respect for our commercial fishing and crabbing industry. Living on the James River my whole life I have learned what to look out for and how to avoid commercial and residential gear. Great video.
I just purchased a 19’ Atlantic from Annapolis. That area has some large water! We dropped in at Fairwinds marina and went out to the lighthouse. Very cool area
I am amazed by how Luke stay so calm giving these interviews when he has so many things to do and also in his mind. I would be biting my nails, looking around, shaking my legs and anxious to the interview to finish so I could get my things done. Congratulations Luke for your emotiinal self control
Excellent video. I grew up in SE Connecticut: crab pots, lobster pots, you name it. It's a big ocean; it's not that hard to avoid the pots/markers. Sailboaters, that's another story; I've never had to deal with a deep keel. Love to see the crab boat tour.
I live on Lake Erie and the commercial fishing here is for Yellow Perch. The lines are all marked with very tall red bouys that make it clear not to drive over them. Good info though.
Your video is very informative. Thank you for that. There are series of floats like this in my area. They are connnected to underwater fishing nets. I am always wondering what to do. Usually and by default, I change my course to let them away. I don't want my propeller to catch any of the line which are under the surface! Ok for the boat tour, by the way.
@bobcaygeon4533, ha! Kinda like complaining because you’re stuck behind an 18 wheeler while driving to Walmart, to buy all the stuff that the 18 wheeler is bringing to Walmart,
Been Watching Luke's Channel for 6 months now. Owning a 30-foot sailboat without a skeg biggest fear is hitting or wrapping around a lobster trap in Ventura County California. Like to sail from one port to next forces me to go out deep!
when we fish the channels there are certain boats you have to give leeway to always. so you cant just go out in there and get in the way of those boats or you will get ran over. but everyone else has to respect each other. i do commercial trotlines, in western ky. i can do lines in the channel. but i cant get in the way of the barges going up and down the lake.
my complaint is,,, why are the crab pot buoy painted black ?? they are so hard to see when they are so small in the water and being black make it even harder to see.... Thanks !!!!
I under what Luke is saying ( I follow Luke also) I am a recreation crab and fisherman. What I catch is food on my table, Sorry Luke but I usually buy seafood I catch. But anyway, The boater come flying by me, Big boats to jet skis where I can see the whites of their eyes. And here I am sitting in my 14ft. alum boat anchored. can you imagine that. During the week it's not to bad, on weekends is the worse. thats when the cowboys come out.

Great interview and informative, My Dad's partner has a sailboat moored over near Annapolis, I'll forward this to Him!
Excellent interview. Thanks for your time Mr. McFadden.
You know people complaining about crabbers, head to a seafood restaurant for a crab dinner, after a day on the water.
@bobcaygeon4533, ha! Kinda like complaining because you’re stuck behind an 18 wheeler while driving to Walmart, to buy all the stuff that the 18 wheeler is bringing to Walmart,

Good information. Thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Until watching Luke I never knew there were underwater line setups in the bay.
I always wondered how they did they what do before hanging out with him.
Crab boat tour would be interesting
When’s the tour !
Luke is a farmer of the bay.
I can sense the frustration in his voice. I think we can all be a little more aware and careful.
Are you guys in Pinehurst filming that video?
13:30 That’s what she said 😂
Boat tour please!!!
my complaint is,,, why are the crab pot buoy painted black ?? they are so hard to see when they are so small in the water and being black make it even harder to see.... Thanks !!!!
So what do you do if youre legally setting pots for recreational and commercial guy messes with it what you supposed to do?
It's more like going around a bicycle that's laying in the middle of the street unintended.
Interesting analogy!
Here for luke
Ask Luke about plans for the new boat
Will do!
"float free channel", never heard that before. My understanding is that all channels must be free and clear of any floats except channel markers.
Crab boat tour.
Heck yea
Yes your !
Yes I would like to see that 2:07
Y the way that is a nice boat
Man like you ever heard of sun screen
MJF in the house

Yeah it can be pretty rough out there on weekends and holidays!
Lol "edge"
How you don't have these problems buy jetboats not i/o lower units cures all issues lol😂
My God people just use some common sense it's not rocket science
Line cutter on my shaft!
Great video. The music made me want to puke though
a crabbing trip will be better...
Whitest teeth in the crab game
Boating privileged drunks
Commercial guys think they own the bay
