Brokeback Mountain has some of the best acting i have ever seen. I literally just watched it for the first time. I'm so sad.
I watched it for the first time a couple of days ago! I’m broken.
Watched it for the second time a few days ago. Hit just as hard as the first time. The hope that Jack feels in the beginning, only to be crushed once he finally realizes that he’ll never really have Ennis, Jake managed to portray that so viscerally.
Me too!! It was a good movie but it broke me. 💔
@@theonionqueen3519 yeah, I guess. But I feel like ennis breaking down in front of Jack at the end might’ve been the start of his path towards accepting that what they had was love. And had jack not died, he might’ve given jack more. Like, maybe he’d have started to allow himself to be emotionally closer to jack and maybe that would’ve led them to a path where they would either be living together or closer to each other. But since Jack was so tired of living life the way they had been, maybe he decided to move on and be with Randall BUT it’s possible he was still going to see Ennis, or that Ennis was going to go after jack if he left him. Idk. I think them living together one day, had jack not died, is of great unlikelihood BUT not impossible. And maybe ennis moving closer to jack or jack moving closer to him so they’d be with each other more often could’ve happened and been enough. It’s just too bad jack died and ennis only realized it was love when it was too late. Now, we will never know. All we can do is dream of what could’ve been. So devastating.
@@thatgirlreacts5465 It truly is devastating. And as sad as it is, it’s great for each fan to be able to speculate what could’ve been. God, it’s just crushing to think about, how sad their ending is. If there’s a Heaven, I like to think they’d end up together there.
Really think people are under-appreciating his role as Billy Hope in Southpaw... Incredible performance

There are two types of people after watching Donnie Darko:
- doesn’t think much about it and goes on with their life

I’m def the second one 😂
And the 3rd group that thinks is alright.
Just watched it for the first time yesterday. I had 3 different dreams that night an the Chinese girl was in one of them. I also watched "enemy" another movie he's in an one of my dreams that night I was in a car crash jus like the ending. So now I'm a little shook after watching Donnie darko. The fact that Jake wasn’t nominated for his performance in *Nightcrawler* still bothers me to this day
Thank you for sharing that.
no doubt about it
Truly an underrated performance.
there's only so many nomination slots each year. that year, he was competing against Leo (Wolf of Wall St), Chiwetel (12 Years a Slave), Bale (American Hustle), Bruce Dern (Nebraska - awesome performance, too), and the winner McConaughy (Dallas Buyers Club). didn't really have a chance.
Las W I’m pretty sure those actors were nominated in the 2014, whereas Nightcrawler was eligible for nominations in 2015; meaning he would’ve been against Steve Carrell (Fox Catcher), Eddie Redmayne (The Theory of Everything), Bradley Cooper (American Sniper), Michael Keaton (Birdman) and Benedict Cumberbatch (The Imitation Game).
I think Donnie Darko is such a stand out because the acting all around seems very real (compared to other Hollywood films), even with the premise of the movie being supernatural.
Nightcrawler is one of the best movies ever honestly. Lou as a character is very intriguing to watch. The entire time I watched it I was always wanting to know what he was gonna do next. It also shows you the potential lengths a person will go to. Everything he does is real and so relatable. Good flick of Jakes in my opinion. October sky was pretty good too.
I Just finished watching it 5mins ago. F*CK I LOVED EVERY SECOND OF IT! The ending had me shocked and I almost cried as well:(

I watched Donnie Darko recently. I didn’t know the siblings were actually related in real life, but already felt the dynamic between the characters was very real and brilliant. it was a great surprise to find out the truth
I like how he is an actor before he’s a celebrity , where as most actors these days just seem in it for the fame. You can tell he truly loves what he does.
The sad part is that those who are in it for the art rarely get the recognition they deserve. He genuinely loves his job and could care less about awards. That's why he's never gotten an Oscar. He doesn't campaign for one.
BigJ210 I felt the same. He’s an artist first.
Or, they're ACTING like they are? 🤷♂️
Yeah you don't see actors talk about acting as much as he does.
A lot of actors just act because they can. Jake does it because he can't so he wants to learn so that he CAN do it.
@@downsjmmyjones101 It's the same reason he picks interesting movies rather than the renamed, slightly altered remake of one of the same 4 movies they've made over and over again for the last several decades.

ani me he’s still got time. He will for sure get one.
There are so many cases in which an actor has never won an Oscar or wasn't even nominated when they should've been. The Oscars are a joke sometimes.
I agree. He is one of my favourite actors as well. He should get an Oscar for his acting because it's insane how good he can act.
He's a normal person.a genuine guy. Seems like a big turnoff to hollywood when it comes to awards.I feel that has a lot to do with it.
it’s unfuckingbelievable how he didn’t get one for prisoners and nightcrawler
Love those two things that he said; about lending his name to projects so that other people's stories can be heard and that bit at the end, that their experience and an audience's experience of a film are two totally different things. His insight into what he does is super interesting to listen to.
Brokeback Mountain had so many jokes made about it, the movie itself kind of became a joke, which is a real shame, because it's one of the most compelling, heartbreaking and tragic love stories in Hollywood cinema, imo.

Sad world when Jake Gyllenhaal, Joaquin Phoenix, Ralph Fiennes, and so many talented actors didn't win an oscar
Its more sad when people think an Oscar defines the talent of an actor.
@@biffbutowski2447 I'm almost sure you haven't watched Room
@@biffbutowski2447 Dry your tears
Yazoso Biff’s an incel, obvs
And Daniel Daaa.... oh wait
Btw. Ralph and Joaquin are on my top 5 list.
Jake Gyllenhaal: I love the movies I've been a part of...
The Internet: and I love YOU Jake Gyllenhaal
So many movies missing here but he was so amazing in End of Watch, Ambulance, Broke back Mountain, brothers, prisoners, and nocturnal animals! Like I’m so shocked when I watched those movies. It felt like a different person
"Even when we despise them, we love them deeply." Most accurate quote for siblings 🙌
I love how 75% of this is Jake complementing other actors.
Rusty Buckets I love how you don’t know the difference between compliment and complement.
@@deadreckoner5276 I guess I should hire an editor.
Jake both compliments and complements these actors
Jake Gyllenhaal breaks down his iconic roles in 21min, Seth Rogers in 36min... I don't wa t to compare these 2 actors but I think Jake deserves at least 40min. They didn't even mention movies like Prisoners or source code
October sky, Jarhead and of course Donnie Darko were some of the most important films to me growing up.
The delivery of "I wish I knew how to quit you", always makes me emotional.
My God he is so well spoken and thoughtful with his words.
They really need to make a Part 2? Just one video doesn't do HIM Justice.
Yea! YEA!!
For sure, he didnt even get to his prisoners character which is my favorite character he played, real good. That and his nightcrawler probably my top 2.
I'm sure he will do plenty more interviews! *fingers crossed*
Jake was an actor that i was fortunate enough to see grow. This man i hope gets an award, but i think he has the repertoire but he needs that one big act. Jake has been an our generation actor & i think he deserves a bigger than life role. Jake is on the up and i look forward to it. Leo took forever & i feel Jake might be on the same vein
i like the way he expresses himself, hes very eloquent
Thanks for your endless love and support. I can't get enough of the love you've been showing me which has been an inspiration to my career. I'm grateful. How long have you been my fan?
This is probably the best episode I've seen. He is so honest and affectionate when talking about his peers and what has shaped him.
Ikr
Yes he is. I've noticed that about him through his interviews. I love how honest and genuine and just...human he is lol.
Would have loved a full 40 minutes of this so he could talk about his other great roles as well!
amen!
brokeback literally broke my heart i think about it all the time
Lou Bloom and the entirety of Nightcrawler, including the meaning of it, sticks with me and will forever. One of the greatest films I've ever seen.
