This guy may have not performed great, but the fact that the high moon designs are getting some love is fantastic, I just hope they dont continue to underperform. Also its baffling how the latest video game representation we got was Devastation (isnt available for purchase on Xbox at least) and that was like almost a decade ago im pretty sure
wait the high moon designs underperformed? im going to assume it's because this really caters to a more specific audience in the transformers community. really hope we continue getting these designs 🙏
If by "Armadaverse" you mean the Unicron Trilogy, I'd disagree. Cybertron's figures seem to be generally both more chunky _and_ better articulated than Armada or Energon.
Had to 3d print a new gun for this guy, as I also agree that the stock gun is way too small. I might upload the files to thingiverse at some point if I get the time.
The most disappointing of the bunch which says very little considering all of these new gamer editions are almost perfect. I will still be picking this guy up because I’ve been waiting for a WFC Barricade since the original wave of figures and I’m really happy we finally got one
I painted my wheels instead. May consider maybe starting an airbrush journey for a little umph for them figures perhaps? All I can say is the painted wheels make a difference. The only issue needs sorting are those feet. Upgrade kits would be a slight issue as this involves capped pins.
Pretty sad honestly since barricade is the one that i anticipated the most considering WFC prime and bee already had a toy back then. Wishing hasbro to make a new mold for the barricade after this might be out of the question
Wow, corporate really made the decision to give us more than just Optimus? A rare W from corporate! As many issues as buddy has, I'm glad we have a representation of him!
THANK YOU! I thought I was the only one who notices the netron assault rifle being too small, even for barricade, let alone Prime. I hope 3rd party accessory makers deliver on a better weapon, though the one I follow on Etsy have only made conversion adapters that turn the weapons into ones that can be held in the robot hands. Also, yeah. This figure's posability and weight issues are atrocious.
It's ironic you say he feels like he's from 2010 considering that's when WFC came out and he was never part of those figures but I guess he could fit right in and you'd never know I guess.
Ladiesman 2:17 solution: fill that gap in front of the elbow port with super glue, will prevent breakage. 5:32 I'm sitting here as you say this with my 2010(11?) Skullgrin next to me, looking at his awesome heels (and ankle tilt!) and finding no justification for a 2023 figure with this problem. Sorry Barry, that's just bad in any decade. 7:26 holy sh** he's right next to me too...
Honestly with how Bumblebee and Barricade looked at first, I thought they were core class and was thus disappointed. I think I'm more disappointed now that they're out and that they look this awkward in quite a few ways.
I asked the same thing about the new starscream. I have reviews up of GE (06) Starscream and Scrapheap up. Local shop got these in way early! Screamer has grown on me with fun transformation and not as bad in person.
Totally AGREE with your comment !! Good job ! Best HONEST Review !! I like Barricade when its first picture shown online.. but because of how it is designed/built; I would sit back and wait till every vendor discounting on it.
Tangentially related: Cybertron Megatron's alt-mode looking like the Batmobile was because Hasbro wanted to capitalize on Batman being in the zeitgeist with Batman Returns being on the horizon. Not that I think Barricade's alt-mode has anything intentionally to do with Batman, I just felt like sharing that trivia.
i got the ko of lockdown, the first version, it likes to fall, because it not have support behind the foot to keep the body up. And, by being a ko, the back is diecast metal, or metal, in the front of the vehicle, so it is a bonus to make it fall more also ss roadbuster looks like a turtle
There's nothing about those feet that seem like a good idea. No heels, so he falls over. No ankles, so he falls over. Feet are sculpted at an angle, so he can stand in one A-frame pose, or else he falls over. Just.... WHY? Was it so hard to sculpt a ball joint to accomplish what his transformation required? Did they NEED to use metal pins that can't be tightened when they could've used screws? What were the design choices that led to this?
honestly i think the articulation is fine mine is just too damn stiff but hey this is a childhood dream 13 years in the making so i'm not going to complain, just hope we end up getting silverbolt, airraid, jetfire and zeta prime
As a person who doesnt have a barricade (Unless you count the micron micromaster 6 pack with runner who was the OG barricade) I think this figure will be decent because this is cheaper than the now, *Almost 70 bucks* WFC Siege barricade. And i've always wanted a barricade
I mean, he shows the cover art in the video and it's clearly the AR. Why they chose that specific weapon for the cover and not the ion blaster is anyones guess, but that's beside the point.
Its like TR02 Commander of Stars. Its backheavy but if you rotate the thigh swivel out so the feet point more to the left and right, it stands better. Although, I know you also hate CoS.
It would be super funny if you edit in the sleeping meme the next time a toy falls backwards... (Like when people fall over and they put a blanket and some z's on the screen)
It doesn't seem like there is storage for his arm when he's using the gun. The back has a tab slot that the arm's tab doesn't fit into. Looks like Quality Control was on vacation when this figure was made.
There's a square peg DIRECTLY on Barricade's back that allows his backpack to tab in solidly without fiddling. edit - Bought the figure today. My annoyance forced my hand to search for a solution immediately.
I think budget was the downfall here. They wanted him to be a certain height, which is fine. But the car is huge! They should have Animated Lockdown’d his ass. More hinges, but smaller size, so the car is smaller and folds up more, extending out to be a taller robot.
To me it's not much of a loss if a modern toy missing a little bit of articulation. I'd still enjoy it, even though I don't really collect mainline figures such as SS or Legacy. BUT...this guy got the 2010 charm which I do love. I still think it's BS that the character got shafted from FOC. Arcee and Slipstream I can understand but Barricade? Come on. Worst is that he even got shafted from the ROTDS game. He has a model and profile art but all of that just went unused.
Yeah, I actually got this figure a day or two ago, and Barricade was such a disappointment. The car mode looks cool, but the transformation was a tad too simple, IMO, and the robot mode is a cluttered mess. It doesn't help that the right arm comes off way to easily, the backpack doesn't want to clip on, the lack of heels, and the wrist guard cover his arm makes it difficult to move the wrist. Needless to say, I agree with the review and the bad choices.
I think what doesnt help, for me at least, is the color scheme they did. I think if they actially made his wheels like the game and made him all silver like the game it would help
Honestly I prefer this toy to the bumblebee gamer toy. The plastic feel is better and he transforms into batmobile. Cool. Bee's transformation is cramping in all his junk into an egg shell. Prime is the best out of the three.
Is it better to have a figure of something and have it be lousy... or to not have it at all? Sometimes I wonder. The Bee is pretty decent but Barricade here... whew...
I dont think this is a bad version of wfc barricade, its have some compromises on the articulations, but is close enough from the game model and i do like the mold quite alot.
Urgh, looks like we're back to confusing the movie Con symbol with the accurate one used in the game. You would have thought Hasbro would have caught that on a Studio Series release
He's a guilty pleasure for me. While he's not exactly a good figure for me due to all the issues with the arms and hands. I honestly don't care about the legs as much as I thought I would.
I got this figure for free at a TF one fan screening, as much as I appreciate getting an SS figure for free, I understand y they gave out this particular figure….. that being said I can’t stop transforming this guy in and out from vehicle to robot but damn is this a rough figure.
It sucks that we waited this long for wfc figures even barricade cus he never got one and the posing is just so bad on him. I hope dna takes notice and fixes this
Now I know that you guys keep on complaining that the Bumblebee figure is bad, well at least it's solid than this figure, because Barricade feels solid but he has long ass feet and has a bad kibble on the Back, also the original deluxe Bumblebee is good, it only feels like a broken, wet noodle, and he has a ninja turtle backpack and the chest is uncomfortably wide, the new Bumblebee gamer edition figure just straights up kill these figures, except for Optimus Prime
No, there was Transformers Battlegrounds recently.
wait the high moon designs underperformed? im going to assume it's because this really caters to a more specific audience in the transformers community. really hope we continue getting these designs 🙏
@@MrDrMedicBag wasn't that like almost 4 years ago though?
reactivate is coming out soon
@@GrimR3xx I think op was talking about the design choices for the figures in this line, and not the actual high moon designs.
This reminds me of a later Armadaverse figure. The chunk is there only at the cost of decent articulation. Definitely getting on a discount.
Sideswipe?
If by "Armadaverse" you mean the Unicron Trilogy, I'd disagree. Cybertron's figures seem to be generally both more chunky _and_ better articulated than Armada or Energon.
@@TristenSarelvun armada sideswipe comes to my mind
Seeing Shadowstrickers robot mode, Hasbro really could have engineered the hip wheels better with this guy
That toy guy: "Barricade has thicc thighs."
Me: And I said he was toe-pic worthy. We're not the same.
Had to 3d print a new gun for this guy, as I also agree that the stock gun is way too small. I might upload the files to thingiverse at some point if I get the time.
appreciate the contribution man
If you honestly think WFC Optimus got most of the budget for these 3, when he is at the lower end of voyagers parts counts, that's a tiny budget.
The most disappointing of the bunch which says very little considering all of these new gamer editions are almost perfect.
I will still be picking this guy up because I’ve been waiting for a WFC Barricade since the original wave of figures and I’m really happy we finally got one
There is an original wfc Barricade that was a prime Prowl retool
It was a timelines figure though…
@PKRadio Even though it's from the same continuity, that was not trying to be a WFC figure. Excellent Prime Barricade though
I disagree because I got cliffjumper and I really don’t like it so I’m just not going to get bumblebee because it’s just not worth the money
If the backpack flaps could fold in to give better arm movements it might be better, the legs are a lost cause to fix due to the transformation
4:00 actually, in barricade weapons are proportionally smaller compared to other characters
Ok tbh I feel like he’s a pretty alr deluxe, he’s fun goes well with other high moon figures
Same, I totally understand the disappointment in the articulation, but I still like it quite a bit.
I love mine, the only issue is a few joints are too tight, and the kibble on the legs can be moved to the point where I like it so all around good
I painted my wheels instead. May consider maybe starting an airbrush journey for a little umph for them figures perhaps? All I can say is the painted wheels make a difference. The only issue needs sorting are those feet. Upgrade kits would be a slight issue as this involves capped pins.

Matrix workshop is making upgrades for all of them. Barricades includes a new neutron assault rifle.
Well i hope DNA design kit will work on that
The alt mode looks like it escaped Hot Wheels Battle Force 5.
It's ironic you say he feels like he's from 2010 considering that's when WFC came out and he was never part of those figures but I guess he could fit right in and you'd never know I guess.

Barricade when he is in the showers "IM A EMO TRANSFORMER IN A EMO WORLD!!!!!!"
I have all of the current gamer edition figures on the way, and I'm looking forward to all of them... except barricade after this video.
Another thing that people were (somehow) irritated about is that they used the movie decepticon symbol and not the original g1 symbol
Is he objectively good? No.
Do I love him? Yes.
Honestly with how Bumblebee and Barricade looked at first, I thought they were core class and was thus disappointed.
I think I'm more disappointed now that they're out and that they look this awkward in quite a few ways.

I'm sure I'm not the first person to say this, but Barricade's alt mode is just the Batmobile
Tangentially related: Cybertron Megatron's alt-mode looking like the Batmobile was because Hasbro wanted to capitalize on Batman being in the zeitgeist with Batman Returns being on the horizon.

With a new head and proper feet with ball jointed ankles, this mold could be a pretty kickass Legacy Animated Lockdown.
I LOVE how he looks. I'm just begging that dna design make a upgrade kit for this guy, it has a lot of wasted potential.
I prefer him over Bumblebee. I find him hard to transform. Can't even get him into vehicle mode.
There's nothing about those feet that seem like a good idea. No heels, so he falls over. No ankles, so he falls over. Feet are sculpted at an angle, so he can stand in one A-frame pose, or else he falls over.

Probably might make for an okay breakdown remold
Hey I have been watching a lot of your stuff recently but I have a question what is a place you can get the blast effect parts from
The way they made it It looks like an transformers animated character.
no way this video is 7 months old, seems like it was last week i watched it the first time
Would you be interested in some upgrade parts for him that add heel supports?
Goddammit! The WFC Barricade design is so damn cool, they could've made him so good, but sadly not
How’d you find a trap beat version of the heavy riff from SOAD’s Aerials?
I love his car mode it's so tiny
the first like 4 steps are just from RID 2015 bumblebee like you pointed out
That thing looks like a prototype for a Combiner wars figure...
Just a got a rotb add before this LETS GO
honestly i think the articulation is fine mine is just too damn stiff but hey this is a childhood dream 13 years in the making so i'm not going to complain, just hope we end up getting silverbolt, airraid, jetfire and zeta prime

Personal i love this figure idk why i just do
The only reason I haven’t sold mine is because of the vehicle mode, which is how I display it
I will get this when the upgrade kit is announced
Keep up the reviews man I love your vids 🗿
I had it standing up for one day and the ankle is just gone now
Barricade looking like anything other than his 2007/dark of the moon design just looks so weird
I just want jazz and cliffjumper and maybe even a grimlock and a shockwave and in out.
I'm a little bummed out I got one on the way, I was hoping it was gonna be good, he still looks pretty good though
Taking recommendations, best deluxe Barricade figure?
Pretty sure Prime has the Ion Blaster on the WFC cover, not the assault rifle
No he has the AR for some reason. Same with how Bumblebee has the plasma canon yet in game has the Energon Battle Pistol.
I mean, he shows the cover art in the video and it's clearly the AR.
Why they chose that specific weapon for the cover and not the ion blaster is anyones guess, but that's beside the point.
i think peg hole on feet could think that DNA design would make an back heels parts
they could have made the grill cover on the back of his feet and flip them out to make the heels
Hope it gets retooled and upgraded into the war for cybertron breakdown
I feel this line is interesting all have some problems like the feet on bumblebee or primes hands in vehicle mode
He’s alright and I understand why he has the kibble since well… he kinda just pulled it outta his @55 in the game
Aw man, if he didn't have so much of the budget, Optimus and Megatron could've been so much better!
Its like TR02 Commander of Stars. Its backheavy but if you rotate the thigh swivel out so the feet point more to the left and right, it stands better. Although, I know you also hate CoS.

now phantom jaw can finally join barricade
There's a square peg DIRECTLY on Barricade's back that allows his backpack to tab in solidly without fiddling.
edit - Bought the figure today. My annoyance forced my hand to search for a solution immediately.
Just wait until you see what bumblebees guns look like on prime
yo, can you pls review Baiwei WEAPON MASTER
Ironic as rid bumblebee had the same heel problem.
Honestly id modify the tranaformation with the legs
Do they have the hover mode?
I think budget was the downfall here. They wanted him to be a certain height, which is fine. But the car is huge! They should have Animated Lockdown’d his ass. More hinges, but smaller size, so the car is smaller and folds up more, extending out to be a taller robot.
Look at him… you made him cry..

Makes me wish Planet X was still making WFC/FOC figures
I wasn’t really excited about this toy when it was announced. Barricade’s robot mode didn’t impress me, at least not as good as other designs.
Is it better to have a figure of something and have it be lousy... or to not have it at all? Sometimes I wonder. The Bee is pretty decent but Barricade here... whew...
I love the chunkiness
I think it’s a pretty decent figure
If this came out in 2010 it'd have pinned wheels.
thicc thighs save lives, and Barricade sure did by not wasting your money on his figure I guess
I dont think this is a bad version of wfc barricade, its have some compromises on the articulations, but is close enough from the game model and i do like the mold quite alot.
Them probably rushing gamer bumblebee makes sense cause look at its chest
Titans return Feet articulation😅 why? Why??
Urgh, looks like we're back to confusing the movie Con symbol with the accurate one used in the game. You would have thought Hasbro would have caught that on a Studio Series release

Namely arms untabing when moving them

I have this figure and i just leave it in vehicle mode, i really do love all the wfc figures and in excited for more but this one was such a let down
If only they couldn't of made the bullbars fold down to form a heel for it.
Yo wassup dude
It sucks that we waited this long for wfc figures even barricade cus he never got one and the posing is just so bad on him. I hope dna takes notice and fixes this

So far imo the gamer edition line has been a let down, they really should've put more budget into it
8:38 HUH🤨
Barricade is crying because he knows that he didn't get any love compared to Prime.
Great video
