I've been saying since this thing was revealed, aside from the chunky cockpit, a lot of the complaints I saw about the figure were just quirks of the actual game design lol. Like the wings being "too small," that's just kinda how this Starscream looks.
Exactly. His wings weren’t expanded until the FOC design came around. His wings were small in the original and anyone who played the game would’ve noticed
I just wish his chest was anything like the game. Also his arms are ridiculously flat.

It's insane how most of the criticism on Optimus prime, Megatron, and starscream was that they were actually accurate to how they look in game
Megatron got complaints that points out he's skinny, but he was that skinny in the game
And his alt mode got bashed like crazy because it was also kind of accurate
Honestly his chest looks a lot better in person it is a really fun figure to have highly recommended to pick up
Once again everyone went crazy angry over a toy they didn't have in hand yet, and once again it was perfectly good in person. I just got it today and like it a lot.

When the gamer edition Starscream was revealed, eBay was selling out of the original figure at a rapid rate.
I can see why. I have the original and the alt mode, chest, and wing size are more accurate on the deluxe. That CAD file is not the same model as the one in the game. Remember they lost the original files for the game. That is why they cannot re release the game. Now it goes for stupid money.
@@jonathanb1987 that was actually debunked about a week after the announcement of the potential re-releases of the games. Activision themselves confirmed they never lost the files they have them safe and sound, but they need permission from Hasbro.

@@Lord_Galvatron I just checked and you are right they didn't lose the files! This is the something I am so glad to be wrong with. I hope Hasbro, and Activision can re-release these games again soon. I want to play the multi-player again.

What I've noticed is Planet X's mold of the Seekers and Hasbro's mold are both more or less accurate because they represent two states of the alt mode. By default the jet takes one shape in its "hover" mode, which I believe Hasbro used for reference here and Planet X's design is based on the "boost" mode
They didn’t need to make the cockpit that big to fit Starscream head into the space. They could’ve had that same piece, but made in the grey plastic and molded to be the area around the cockpit, and then have a separate smaller orange piece connected to that as the cockpit.
Mhm. It's just such an odd design choice that they went with. I'm thinking I might commission someone with 3d modelling/printing experience to model a whole new chest because that's the one part of this figure that continues to bug me
My guess is that it would go over budget. I count 4 molds here (blue, red, grey, and soft, so I have to assume he was made on a retool budget. They probably didn't have the ability to cast the entire mace out of clear plastic as well as the cockpit, then paint them separately.
Looks like a legit fun figure. Really like the mace and rifle accessories. Also great to see weapons compatibility outside of just plugging it on his arm. Definitely a future consideration along with GE Prime.

Yea everyone...even some of the Hasbro staff was a little down on this figure but from what I've seen it's pretty solid. It could just use some fancier paint but everything else is there.

I'm overall pretty satisfied with how he looks, and I look forward to mine arriving soon.
That said, I still think the solution to the cockpit is just to make it not clear. Opaque plastic with metallic paint, like on Legacy Armadascream, mainly because I worry about the rubber perishing, like TR Mindwipe's wings.
Hopefully for Skywarp and Thundercracker they do that, and eventually, they can reissue Starscream hopefully
Now, it's only a matter of time before we get the other seekers
i really, REALLY hope this figure gets Thundercracker and Skywarp releases
First we had Reactivate Starscream, and now this, which looks stellar based on the footage here. I held off on the pre-order initially, because I was worried he'd somehow get stuck with those senior-citizen knees like the other Decepticons in this line, but thankfully this review has put those worries to rest. I personally don't mind the way the cockpit looks - the faint little ridges in the plastic keep it from looking too plain. Waist swivel on a Seeker is always a great sight to see, too.
Dangit, now I dunno what to do. I was gonna keep to one figure per character, and Reactivate Starscream is still amazing, but this figure looks too good to pass up. I guess I can get him anyway to better fit with my Optimus Prime and Megatron.
_Reactivate_ Starscream could be used as an Earth-mode Starscream, while Gamer Edition Starscream could be his Cybertronian mode.
Then again, Starscream had his _War for Cybertron_ body in the IDW comics.

Starscream got that Cheeto Puff Cockpit
My primary concern is the canopy's durability as it dries due to using a rubbery plastic. Decided to re-order it last night out of a sense of "fine, I'll bite and keep my SSGE one-of-each-mold streak going," and immediately this morning it got in stock to ship out. Should at least look great next to the Planet X one on my shelf.
I know you said why they made the cockpit soft instead of hard clear plastic, but my question is why did it need to be clear to begin with? Why does ANY transformer figure need a clear windshield/cockpit? I'm tired of them making these weird decisions with clear parts that ruin the look of a figure, and for what? So you can look through the windshield of a car and see.... What? The robot mode butt through the window? The back of the robots head through a cockpit canopy? There's no full interior for the vehicle modes so who cares if the windshield/cockpit is clear? Just make it a solid painted piece and be done with it.
Just a qq, the peg on ol’ scream’s arm also fits the other weapons too right? Like I could plug an Autobot AR arm cannon onto starscream’s arm instead of the sniper right?

The legs are kind of similar to the legacy armada starscream ( in transformation)
As someone who has been playing both war for cybertron and fall of cybertron for over 10 years, this toy looks extremely inaccurate and weird in its design and proportions. Very disappointed.

What are the chances we get Thundercracker and Skywarp. Like, name another game where you can PLAY as those 2 characters so those versions of them are super memorable to me. Question should’ve been “how SOON we’ll get the repaints?”
Like you said A lot of the Cockpit complaints could have been easily fixed if Hasbro would have painted the sides of the cockpit.
So I recommend, if you can.. and I am saying this to anyone, get some Vallejo Oily Steel paint and it’ll look better…. Seal it with Mr Hobby and it shouldn’t flake.. Or wait for ToyHax to do a decal. That’s all it needs to look better and slim it down.
It’s more visual than anything.

People weren't complaining about the figure's pose in the stock image. They were complaining about the cockpit.
As I said, when gamer edition began, it will be meh at first, but as gamer edition went along it would get better this is when it starts getting better.

10:15 I always forget to fold out the front of the wings on my Legacy Blitzwing, you aren't alone.
I almost got one today, but the one I found was missing the two red pieces that sit on top of his shoulders. And because of the open window, they’re just gone. Sad. I’ve seen figures with missing heads and accessories. When will Hasbro learn? I would rather gamble with a completely closed box than to have pieces missing.
Edit: After looking at a bunch of pictures of Starscream in box and watching an unboxing, I figured out that those pieces are packed separately in a little bit of paper so I did get him and he’s awesome. I’m choosing to edit this comment instead of just deleting it because my point still stands. This plastic free packaging has been a problem across all toylines that have adopted it. It allows people to scan each other by putting an old or unwanted figure in the box and returning it. And I’m finding Transformers missing heads and other things.

Don't use translucent plastic.

To be honest aside from the wings I still think the Planet X one is really good. I think it’s one of the best figures I have. It just feels so good to play with and transform even despite the plastic and the occasional sharp edge

The sniper rifle was lit AF in the High Moon TF games!
Transformers is my new hyperfixation, so I've bought a few figures. I wanted Starscream because I LOVE fighter jets. I bought him, a really basic version of Soundwave, and Optimus Prime and Bumblebee from that Earthspark show.
This is by far the hardest and most complex one to transform. Thank you for showing that in your video. I sat here for 20 minutes, rewinding and playing those parts just to get it right. It's just amazing how they are able to make these toys with such complexity. The Soundwave one was sort of disappointing, as only the top half actually articulates, and I think it's literally like 2 steps. As much as I love this Starscream, I think the sweet spot is the Bumblebee and Optimus Primes I got. Not too many steps, but enough that it feels fun and satisfying to complete. Starscream... wow, this one was a doozy!
Being that I'm in my own little bubble, I didn't know there was controversy over this toy. I loved it from the moment I saw it!
I'd just appreciate it if they finally let the clear plastic on hinges rest. No matter how you do it, it always seems to cause problems, be it fragility, crummy paint matching, being flexible and thus unpaintable like here, or any number of others.
I can't think of a single example where it would've looked way worse to have solid plastic of an appropriate color. Even here it would've been more accurate: in-game, they don't actually render the cockpit with any transparency, it's solid orange.
Clear plastic only ever works as inserts/aesthetic parts, never anything that needs to move.
I just can't stand looking at that terrible cockpit. Could they have really not thought of another way? All of these gamer edition figures have been so incredibly ugly, apart from Optimus.
Saw him and ss86 brawn at target a couple weeks ago and picked up brawn, love him but seeing this in person I just ordered him and legacy jhiaxus. Love that his arm has a channel and I really hope they do gamer soundwave next

With the Gamer edition toys, I wish they had better slots for the weapons cause in the game, they formed and replaced the, making a sort of organic weapon but with the toys, you have to take off the arm and plop the arm in which look odd.
Its a shame the cockpit ruins this figure for me visually, robot mode and vehicle mode worked much better even with the exposed head on the deluxe. He otherwise looks really fun and posable.
Really hated the excuse they gave "there was noway else to fit the head" either find somewhere else to put the head that doesnt totally compromise the looks and silhouette of the figure, or just repeat what the deluxe did. The head was really not much of an eyesore and hid fine in plain sight.
My only complaint about this fig is the cockpit I feel like if it didn't look so big he wouldn't look so fat
If I need to choose between legacy armada starscream and SS gamer edition starscream, which starscream you will recommend me to buy?
Got my first paycheck today and treated myself with this guy and iv done this on my deluxe as well but I flip the nose cone out and it helps a good bit with the wide cockpit issue but I'd still like to see a better fix

Big disappointment! My issue is that the back doesn’t clip into the legs as it should.
And the jet looks unfinished at the front.
I'm so torn on this one the seeker design from the game is one of my favorites, but I hate the cockpit and the puny wings. The original is so much better.
It was a problem with Megatron as well, but I hate the fact that he has to hold his mace by the very end of the handle.
So I really want to know if I should be paranoid that the backpack on mime is weird. Like the back is kinda not together. His things that his wings are attached to does not fall into the indent on the back. Kinda feels like he has a bit of a bend
