    The depth & magic & nuance of your painting style and ability is amazing! I literally feel like, as I am attempting to follow along with your work ( on my own present level), my own soul is becoming more alive and colorful ❣I thank you so much for putting your presence here!

    Great tips! It’s so true, at the start having inspiring artists to teach you along the way is key… The problem is when you kind of rely on tutorials and not try things on your own. Sometimes you just gotta get out of the fear of what might happen and go for it!! It’s al about the risk and enjoying the flow of the colors💪🏻🥳🎨

      Absolutely. My mistake was that I took a couple of tutorials and then decided I could learn on my own 100%. It really slows down the process. But it’s important to find your own wings too 🌈

    So many people just starting out use the wrong paper, I think it's one of the most important things, every single paper reacts to the water differently. I think that's what a lot of people don't realise use 100 percent cotton paper if you can. The wetter you paint the more you should use cotton.

      That was my mistake in the beginning. I had no clue. Then I stumbled upon Arches and I realised how crucial paper is in watercolour. Also I find my watercolour sketchbooks need to be at least 230 gsm or the sizing gets ruined when I use a lot of water… which is basically all the time 😅

      @@drawingsinadrawer I'm using a sketchbook for the first time instead of a block of Arches and made sure the paper was cotton but I bought it for the leather cover, so I can only put two layers of paint, not too much water and I can't erase a pencil line even with a gummed eraser.
      I have had to be creative and I'm trying ink and watercolor otherwise my paper disintegrates but it's a challenge and I'm trying things out of my comfort zone.

      I have to honestly say that the best sketchbooks for watercolour are made by Etchr Lab. I have heard Kovall are very good too, but I’m forcing myself not to buy anything else for a while 😅

      Agree 100%, only when I started using quality watercolor paper did i realize how crucial it is and it changed everything! It made me LOVE watercolor.

    I am amazed at the number of fantastic tutorials are available on RUclips. Artists are a sincere, generous and encouraging lot and so willing to share their love and knowledge. So grateful!

    Me and my partner really miss your Art + Crime series, I understand that your channel didn't take off into the stratosphere, for whatever reason and that's sad (darned algorithm!), I also understand that some of those stories might take their toll on someone... ma eri così brava, a raccontare e a dipingere... ci sarebbero così tante storie e "misteri" italiani di cui non si parla molto in lingua inglese: dalla Strage di Erba, ad Anna Maria Franzoni, alla Contessa Vacca Agusta. We hope that one day you'll be in the right "mood" to reprise your series. 🙏🏻

      Aaaaaw, darling! I loved that series so so much. Especially unsolved cases. I’m not sure if you are Italian or not, if you are you will know About Emanuela Orlandi ( I covered her case) . Her brother Pietro reposted my Timelapse of her portrait on his Instagram. I was stunned that he found it!
      Se sei italiana ti mando un grande abbraccio e anche se non lo sei 🥰 Spero di tornare a fare caso di crimine, magari una volta al mese . Grazie di cuore. Fiona x

      I know. It’s like the simplest answer but the hardest to realise for some reason. As I said, I myself barely took any. I would have spared myself so much time and gotten satisfaction sooner x

    Your paintings are beyond amazing!😍 I believe the most important aspect in learning water color is patience.. to wait for each layer to dry copletely before doing the next.. it takes forever😮‍💨

    • @drawingsinadrawer
      @drawingsinadrawer  Месяц назад +1

      Thank you ❤️ I use a heat tool! I couldn’t wait for the layers to dry! I’m too impatient 😂 You can also use a small hair dryer, but you must never hold it too close to the paper or it will ruin it x

      If it’s the flat rectangular one in the off-white colour, I got at Flying Tiger which is a Danish shop here in Europe. Anything else is from Amazon. If you are in Europe, Flying Tiger seems to only have certain items for a limited amount of time, so hurry 😀
