  • Hatch Night!
    Hatch night is such amazing to watch. This video basically shows how I catch them and get them to the tank. I use the Vossen Larvae Trap, a heater and a air pump.
    Always prepare the water the night before in the fry tank and make sure its nice and heated.
    Anything I don't explain, please feel free to ask!

    • @TheAqualogy
      @TheAqualogy  7 лет назад

      wcdeich4 unfortunately no. A few things would happen.
      1. Current would kill them
      2. Would basically be fish food.
      3. Even if the above were somehow avoided, they would starve. No access to Rotifer's
      4. Light would be so bright from regular tank

    Is a person supposed to keep only 1 pair of breeding fish per tank, as in two on their own or can you have multiple breeding pairs in a larger tank / what is the verdict ont this, do they get along, would they eat or destroy each others nests?

    Great instructional video thank you. I tried rearing a batch of clownfish but I'm not sure how much TDO A to add to the tank. I've been using a tiny pinch but it's unclear if they're eating it and how much is going to waste. How many times daily do you feed the TDO? Thanks!

    • @TheAqualogy
      @TheAqualogy  7 лет назад +2

      Puff Man I do the same. Once fish are off Rotifers a feed TDO 3 times a day in pinches. My rule is I add small amounts and wait for it to disappear before adding more. You can tell if you are adding to much of you see it all over the floor

    Great Video, Learning a lot from it. My clown fish just laid there first set of eggs just over a week ago. Of course I was not ready to do anything to have any success as of yet. Was going to set up a brine shrimp hatchery but after watching your video look like that is the wrong thing to do and just order the TDO food. I have phytoplankon ordered. Need to order rotifers but waiting to get plankton growing first. I noticed that APBreed offers 2 types of Rotifers. Ltype and S-type. Which type should I order. Also do you sell rotifers and what type do you have and how much. Also looks like I will need a sieve. I think its a 53mu sieve but correct me if I am wrong. Any help is very much appreciated
    Thanks

    • @TheAqualogy
      @TheAqualogy  7 лет назад +2

      Appreciate the comments!
      Congrats on the fish laying eggs, its such a cool feeling!
      Yes, I stopped doing brine shrimp because it was such a hassle to constantly raising then it was actually killing fry. TDO is packed with nutrition and all the top breeders I know use it because you get great colors and half out of the fish.
      You can use the phytoplankton to grow or you can use the RG complete I mentioned. I still grow phyto but slowly am getting rid of it and only using RG complete. Super concentrated and great shelf life.
      I use the L- Type strain. Yes I have rotifers for sell and usually get a 16 oz bag $14 shipped. Just remember if you are going to grow a lot of rotifers, you will need to grow a lot of phytoplankton. If you don't have success with growing large amounts or the culture keeps dying, I would switch to the RG complete by Reeds
      Yes, you are correct about the sieve.

    • @shawnb34
      @shawnb34 7 лет назад

      Wow fast response, I would like to take that up with you and get a bag, I will order order a small bottle of RG complete today. I have already ordered what I need for the pyhto and am wanting to give that a try as well but would like to have everything ready for the next clutch of eggs. Hopefully there will be one. Last time they laid in my reef tank next to there RBTA. Noticed eggs on Nov 1 and hatched on Nov. 5. I put in a flower pot over the weekend in hopes they lay there. If not I will pick up a trap as soon as I see where the eggs are. I read that when changing things in the tank it may make it so they don't lay eggs again. .
      Where can I make that order for rotifiers from you. I saw a eBay link on another one of your videos but it appears not to be yours anymore.

  • @AcuaTV
    @AcuaTV 7 лет назад

    Hey Luis, I was wondering if you had a video on the transfering of the eggs if they are on a flower pot. How do you aerate the eggs once they are moved? My concern is the following. I've observed that when I see the silver bodies and the eyes in the next two o three days is when they seem to hatch (I haven't been able to see if they actually hatch since they are on my main display tank with lots of predators, pumps etc). So I was planning on removing the pot on the night I see the silver bodies and eyes and use an airstone to aerate the eggs, but being in a flower pot I think it will be hard to put the airstone inside so that it doesn't cause air pockets and circulates water properly. Any advice that you can give me in that area?
    Thanks!

    • @TheAqualogy
      @TheAqualogy  7 лет назад +1

      AcuaTV haha that's funny, I was actually uploading a video where I explain how I do the transfer when they are in a removable object. Should be up soon

      @AcuaTV 7 лет назад

      Sweet!!

    • @TheAqualogy
      @TheAqualogy  7 лет назад

      AcuaTV but to answer your question, it's okay to have the bubbles touch the eggs. As long as it's not blasting, the should be fine. You want enough current to have the eggs move around naturally but not have the air blowing hard against the eggs. You will be able to tell the difference when you are adjusting the air because it will look more natural at the right aeration instead of thousands of bubbles knocking into the eggs

    How many days usually does it take for the eggs to hatch

    • @TheAqualogy
      @TheAqualogy  7 лет назад

      Depends on the clowns. I usually say anywhere from 7-10 days. It all depends when they have eyes and turn silver. From there it's usually that day or the next. Definitely more than a week though. What I tell people is to have a calendar and right down the day they lay and the day they hatch the first few times. From there you should be able to see your clowns schedule
