I was able to spawn and raise some clownfish once. Was a lot of work at the time due to my setup then, but I could see how if you wanted to do it often you could definitely simplify and streamline things.
Yes it is a all or nothing deal for me. The time and effort keeping rotifers alive and phytoplankton alone for just a spawn once in a while. My rearing rack(for post meta fish) has been a life saver

With the larvae tank at 80 degrees do you what temperature do you keep the reef tank and if it’s lower how do you not shock the eggs when you move them from the tank

My Clowns just spawned for the first time. Needless to say I'm very excited but totally unprepared.
In the future I'd like to raise a batch. One problem; the eggs were deposited on the base of a massive leather coral they host in.
Anybody have success in removing the eggs using a siphon?
The initial water added to the hatch tank doesn't need to be cycled? Also, how many days in advance does the hatch tank need to be set up and ready to go?
Really no need to cycle the water. It will not hold a cycle without a filter. I would set up larvae tank up atleast a day before to make sure everything is stable.
Can I just remove parent fish from the tank and cover with plastic the tank

I moved the eggs to the fry tank. Does it need light as well? Or only once after they hatch?
They need complete darkness to hatch. You should do more research on there lighting needs.
Thanks, I do the same but I only get about 20fries, do not know the reason why.
not sure why either. There are so many variables' hard to pin it down sometimes
can we able to see rotifers in our eyes ? If I collect sea water, Is there a chances to get rotifer sample ?
I don't get the rotifers available at my region.
You would need a microscope to confirm it is rotifers

Would this set up work if i pulled the pot on day one or two as the parents keep eating the eggs around day five , they have been spawning regularly for 4-5 months
Not well, it is much better to leave them with the parents
what age is it safe to move fry to grow out tank and what is the best method ? I tried at 20 days with net and like you have said they have heart attacks and fall dead !
I ussually move them at 30 days

few questions.....i noticed you completely covered the tank with black plastic. how do you get away with not allowing gases to escape? I can only assume you don't do any water changes during this time? How long do they stay in that tank before you move them to another tank? How long can they go before the water becomes toxic?

after they hatch when do they require food ? Wondering if they have egg sacks that they use first ?
They do have yolk sacs. It takes larvae a couple days to fiqure out hunting. I feed the morning after hatch.
