Chris Stuckmann reviews Transformers: Age of Extinction, starring Mark Wahlberg, Stanley Tucci, Kelsey Grammer, Jack Reynor, Nicola Peltz, Sophia Myles, Bingbing Li, Titus Welliver, TJ Miller. Directed by Michael Bay.
That Wahlberg impression was great!
Flickpick is doing a much better impression
What? No...
Yeah! Sounded like Wahlberg to me!
Munashiimaru clearly you're a fan of "What?-No!"
W h a t ? N o !
No character has ever annoyed me more than that boyfriend guy, even gives Jar-Jar the run for his money.
Yeah he is basically a ped
+MJk Slasher Even Jar Jar is saying"Ohh! Mesa think you so annoying!"
so true
+MJk Slasher One driver and her as the navigator XD
Chicken Mike you watched this??
'Where's your warrant?'
"My face is my warrant"
Ugghh that line made me cringe sooooo bad.
It sounded like something a middle schooler would say, honestly
No. A middle schooler would have said, "your mom is my warrant!"
that would work if it were set up well. Just saying. It probably didn't work in this movie, but I can imagine a line that well working in show like THe Shield where the dialogue surrounding it would make it work like a punch line.
So do I just sign here on your face?
Michael Bay should just start directing pornography.
Doesn't he already do that?
Shaky Cam Porn.
It's called Pornomatography a style Michael Bay pioneered.
Explosive Orgasm
Most of the actors he gets for his movies are porn-level actors anyway.
It's like the title knew what would happen to the series.
YES
Balegde
thats a singer!
As someone who grew up adoring the Dinobots, this movie actually made me cry. I was so upset that I honest to god cried. Fuck you, Michael Bay!
+Amelia Bee I suggest playing Fall of Cybertron. Grimlock is GLORIOUS.
+Aequitas 1995 I keep hearing that! I also keep forgetting to hunt it down to play. That was the one on the PS3, wasn't it?
Amelia Bee I played it on the Xbox 360, but it might be on the PS3.
+Liberty Schulz Of course she did. It's a shame yours clearly didn't.
+Amelia Bee that's your own fault lmao
There is absolutely no problem with preferring artsy films over bloated blockbuster movies. Embrace that. Don't be embarrassed about it.
Are you Batman?
***** But I think the difference is in execution more than anything.
Except for Star Wars where there is a lot more stuff going on, those other 2 films aren't worlds apart from Transformers, not that that makes them bad at all.
*****
Indy is really just a simple (but not simplistic) action adventure movie, I can't see what really separates them for transformers/avengers.
*****
The avengers had a clear and focused plot. It also did a good job humoring the audience, something Michael Bay fails at. Joss did an amazing job balancing the cast, again something Michael Bay fails at. Seriously the hate for The Avengers is just sometimes not justified anymore. I remember when it first came out and everyone loved it.
There is a problem with it, yes. Same with loving blockbuster movies a lot more than indie art films. Chris is in the middle, where most people should be. Why? Because they aren't two completely seperate genres. There have been very, very beautifully made and beautifully written movies that had a ton of action and were either fun and/or very tense. Plus, that was a simplified example. Plus, pure art film lovers come off as annoyingly pretentious, and pure blockbuster funsters come off as they don't care. It's better to be neither of them.
The Transformers movies are pretty much gulity pleasures for me. I know they're not good but I enjoy them for all the mindless action.
Me too. Michael Bay knows what his job is and knows how to do it well.

What about bumblebee
It's now the highest grossing film of 2014. Fuck us.
It beat Captain America 2 and X-Men: Days of Future Past...GOD DAMN YOU, MICHAEL BAY!
aldo curiel
Do you think Guardians of the Galaxy can top this? Oh what's the point.
FEARSxCAMAR0 no way
FEARSxCAMAR0 no way
We suck as consumers.
Its disappointing that good movies like Edge of Tomorrow makes nothing in the box office and movies like these continue to becoming the high grossing movies ever....
Edge of Tomorrow is for people that have brains!
Transformers AOE is for people who have no brains!
***** i resent that comment because i have a brain and i like every now and then movies like transformers age of extinction besides i knew what to expect and believe it or not got a little bit more in return.
***** Well, I guess I'll just have to see the movie, then.
Edge of Tomorrow was a good movie but it just had horrible marketing. While Transformers has good marketing and that gets people in theathers.
res8u33n I would say its the name not the marketing that get people in theaters
Michael Bay is directing the Fifth Transformers movie. God please saves us.
transformers 8 is coming soon
PLEASE let someone else direct the movies this time.
Well, I'm from 2025, and they just made the 18th.
Alberto Arras no he isnt
Alberto Arras honestly i went to church last week just to pray for this movie to good as we want
This is one of those movies where I forced myself to stick with it until the end of the film...and then promptly felt devastated, because I would never get that time back.
FIINALLY!!! Someone says Edge Of Tomorrow was a good movie!
Well it was, critics like it as well.
Nobody even said it's a bad movie lol I think everyone loved it
it was never a bad movie. Not even close to bad. But it's criminally underrated. It's sort of a win for toxic cruise haters, they finally have a cruise movie that's awesome but not as successful as it should be
Everyone is saying it’s a good movie (cause it is). It just unfortunately bombed because of the awful marketing
"Bumblebee!! OPTIMUS!!" It's so true lol!
And unbelievably there are some people who prefer Shia over Mark.
"Michael Bay, if you decide not to be a director one day, you'd be a great 4th of July showman."
Chris, you just summed him up in one sentence.
My hat's off to you!!!
I remember Beast Wars....looking back on it? GOD THAT CGI sucks.....fun memories :)
How is that fun memories?
@@arcticangel1628 because the show itself was quite fun for people, atleast for the time
Tho now, the dialogue is quite corny
Transformers: the allspark
Transformers Revenge of the Fallen: the matrix
Transformers Dark of the Moon: the pillars
Transformers Age of the Extinction: the seed
Transformers the last Jedi (I mean Knight): the staff of Merlin
let's face it... us who enjoy a good solid story are a minority. The masses just want random action and chases and shit, the masses just want to eat popcorn and watch Michael Bay movies.
yes and people say it is a summer movie why you want good story, just watch and eat popcorn but inception also came out in summer and is now one the best movies ever made.even if your brain is too dumb than at least to understand inception then these movies are for people who like Michael bay movies.i agree with you man.
I enjoy great movie plots as much as the next guy. but every now and then i just wanna see some shit being blown up. that is why i watch these movies.
If its just explosions do we need 2 1/2 hours of them? I'll commit to a longer movie for the story, but not for special effects.
...so? the only reason you judge that as a bad thing is because you want to feel superior to them
its the dumbing down of the world. the stupid breed faster and throw their money at anything that flashes at them O_O OH SHINY might as well be their motto
Winter Soldier and Edge of Tomorrow are excellent choices man! I actually wish more action films could be like that
Transformers: B-

TRANSFORMERS: C PLUS
REVENGE OF THE FALLEN: F
DARK OF THE MOON: B PLUS
AGE OF EXTINCTION: C

Dark of the Moon was pretty good, then he crapped the bed with Extinction and Knight
Transformers G1 Movie A+
The bay movies BIG FAT F
Dark of the moon is good when it doesn’t have anything to do with the government, really it applies for all of the movies
My personal opinion...
Transformers: B+
Transformers 2: F
Transformers 3: C+
Transformers 4: D-
Believe it or not I kind of like the third transformers, but it is a guilty pleasure for me and that's why I gave it that rating.
TJ Miller's characters was so stupid and lame that you're happy when he dies a horrible death.
its good thing hes been revealed to be a terrible person
So he was just playing himself
He was responsible for voicing hiro in big hero 6
He was also the voice of robbie in gravity falls
I always walk into these Transformers movies with all this hope, and every time that hope gets shattered. Damn you Michael Bay.
Now I need to watch "Epic Rap Battles" with Michael Bay again.
First comment.
@@sp1no9993 Wow you're cool kid.
How come Steven Spielberg is still an executive producer for all these shits ??
Krishen Seethiah $$$$$$
miles pardoe Still, a name like Spielberg should not be associated with turds like Transformers
That Nerd - Executive producer can sometimes mean "Hey, popular person in Hollywood. We'll give you this much money if we can put you in the credits."
Scott Sullivan I'm amazed by the fact that Steven Spielberg, one of the highest grossing directors of all time, needs money from transformers
Jude Isuru Fernando - He just wants as much money as he can get. He's one of those people who doesn't care about anything except money. He's not even that good of a director. His movies are just ordinary and cliché to me
The ONLY movie in years I can remember that Michael Bay did......decent, was Pain & Gain. It atleast had a story, kept it intriguing, and had humour but also showed consequences of actions / mistakes. I was honestly surprised and would prob ONLY give it a high rating (C+ which is awesome for a Bay film), is because I compare it to his other shit..i mean films.
supermariofan03 I never said I exactly liked it...just saying for a Michael Bay movie...its alright. I wouldn't even give Pain & Gain a C- just wasn't completely utter shit like most of his movies.
It's basically like saying "paying for parking is better than a parking ticket" either way the parking sucked in some way..
Mark Hazleton 13 Hours was great
The Rock is fantastic
What about 13 hours
singingchef23 it was ok not great blackhawk down was great 13 hours was ok.
My favourite thing about this movie is the dialogue between Mark and his daughter in the end when, after 4 hours of explosions, she says that they cannot get back home. Cause it blew up.
the lead actress in this movie..
HOLY FUCKIN SHIT YOU'VE GOTTA BE SHITTIN ME 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
I don't understand why everybody blames Michael bay for the way the films are. You should blame ehren Kruger. He's written these films since rotf.
Finally someone who agrees. Ehren Kruger is of THE WORST screenwriters. Almost everything he touch falls apart. Scream 3 is the worst in it's franchise and his changes to Scream 4 are the worst part of that movie. Transformers 2 has to have had the single dumbest nonsensical story I have ever seen and I don'er even remember the 3rd one. The reason Transformers 1 is regarded as better than the others is probably because Kruger had absolutely nothing to do with it.
***** Yeah but the Director is the one who makes the full assembles of what the movie looks like and how it should be executed. Which many people like to point the directors when comes to making the movie.
Johnny Boy
I don't think Michael Bay cares that much about the
story he is given which does make him part of the blame, but I think he'd be fine adapting any script that he believed he could make look good. I think Bay's direction is good in the first Transformers and okay in the second, but it's the story that decreases in quality by a ton.
***** Ehren Kruger wasn't to blame for Transformers 2. If you do more research. You would know that Michael Bay wrote the story.
Xavier foster
Excuse me, I didn't do that much research on a film I despise from a writer whose entire filmography I almost despise as well.
There are plenty of excuses for why Transformers 2 sucks. Michael Bay, Ehren Kruger, a rushed schedule, etc.My main point is that everything Ehren Kruger touches seems to be terrible and that doesn't seems to have changed with Transformers 4.
I feel like Bay is going to ruin Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles also. Just by looking at the trailers it looks just like a Transformers movie but instead it has giant turtles running around. I think Bay is taking advantage of our nostalgia and exploiting it honestly.
Actually he can't ruin it because he's not director
Like above said, Michael Bay isn't the director... even some of the trailers and commercials say "Produced by Michael Bay". Bay is one of 6 producers for TMNT. He's attached to the movie because his studio is helping to produce. I very much doubt he had a lot of say since he was busy with Transformers 4 since both films were filming around similar time frame.
Then don't spend fucking money on his shit. Oh wait, you're a fanboy so you're going to anyway.
Jonathan Liebesman is the director of the movie not Micheal Bay. He is producing it. It was the same thing with Batman and Robin and Super Mario Bros. You don't blame the producers you blame the director(s) and the people running the studio who hired said director.
Daron Palmer Yeah I'm scared shitless of the fanboy Daron Palmer, who bitches about fictional characters being put in fictional situations, and acts like it's going to be the end of the world when they are portrayed on the big screen. You convinced me man, you really convinced me lol
Mark Wahlberg was the only reason I liked this movie at all. I love him as an actor.
And the other thing I'll say on this...regarding your Mark Walberg comment is - the darn movie should be about transformers and humans second, not the other way around. And now you got Walberg in this movie fighting Deceptions - ridiculous. U never develop a care in the world for any transformer because they never have character depth, instead it's the human characters that have arcs and to no avail.
what the heck are the humans supposed to do if they're not helping? He actually had an importance helping Optimus, then when the human doesnt fight, like Shia everybody hates. wtf hating in every way possible
Theleolegendary10 dude, I never said I liked the ones with Shia. The only one that was decent was the 1st. I ain't hating, go to rottentomatoes website and see the review rating Age of Extinction got for yourself -- heck go to any review site. If you liked it, great, but to the trained eye, its thoughtlessly structured and executed. If Bay wants to make a movie where humans carry the show and limelight, then he should go the route of Robotech or something. It would work nicely -- just look at how nice, moviegoer and critic-wise -- Pacific Rim did. Transformers should be transformers with a little help (humane not lofty) from humans.
The 1'st movie was actually a really good action movie. The second one was bad. The only thing I liked about the second one was Devastator and the ending. The third one was actually not too bad. The fourth was just as bad, if not even worse than the second one. Sure, it has really cool special effects, but there were way too many questions (like WTF happened to Sam and if Bumblebee loved Sam why did he make no mention of him whatsoever?). No story, and bland and one dimensional characters.
***** No he wasn't. He was not annoying.
***** No, the bitching, yelling, crybaby was that other guy, Sam's roommate from Revenge of the Fallen. He was annoying as fuck. I was so glad he wasn't in the third one. Sam I don't remember bitching. I don't remember him crying either. And you know Sam was the main character, right? It's always been that, until Age of Extinction.
Emperor Palpatine that forest fight and Megan fox is what made it watchable tbh
The first and third movies were the only ones I really enjoyed, I was a bit annoyed at age of extinction because the story literally made no fucking sense, like it didn't even fucking tie in with the other 3 movies, what the fuck happened to all the people that actually worked with the transformers in the first 3 movies, at least they had some characters that you actually liked, the only character I liked was Mark Everyone else just pretty much fucking dragged the movie down, the transformers were also pretty forgettable because they keep fucking killing your favorite more well known ones, like ratchet, ironhide, etc. it's honestly pretty annoying, I enjoyed 3 because I found it entertaining, and I just liked the whole alien invasion scenario of it, and how it had things that tied in with history, the first transformers I actually really enjoyed, it was cool, and I hadn't seen many movies like it
Agreed I liked the first and loved the third part too but I couldn't even sit halfway through this one
Danex21 all those things that were in the other movies were made by transformers...but the creators MADE transformers..theres a bigger picture smh
I'm surprised that you didn't even cover the Chinese pandering in this movie.
Who the fuck keeps giving Michael Bay, the wachowskis, and M Night money to make their shitty horrible movies? I mean we know who but like WHYYYYY
Cause the last two have made over a billion.
ariana moore Split by M Night is looking to be really good in 2017.
China.
If you can manage to make your film appealing to Chinese audiences (in this case by filming in Hong Kong), you're almost guaranteed to make money. It doesn't matter how shitty the movie is to us; as long as people in China like it, they'll continue to polish turds and call it entertainment.
ariana moore why not? M night is a great director when he's in his wheelhouse. Look no further than the recent split.
money
When they have a clip showing Nicola's ass up close. That's when I started to fear for the movie. I'm 24 years old Bay, I'm not a pedophile. And I don't care if this movie is PG-13, there are still kids watching because this movie is base on the children's toyline. Thanks for the review Chris. I thought after Pacific Rim and Edge of Tomorrow. Shit like this is no excuse. You can make a fun action packed popcorn film and still have a cohesive story and interesting characters. Michael Bay, along with the rest of America need to watch these movies and learn from them.
Exactly. Bay has a soft core porn, Rated R taste...and those are where his style fits. Those are the movies I want him to make as I've enjoyed and even own some of them like The Rock, Pain & Gain, The Island. He does not match with this series other than he does exactly what Paramount wants which is make money. Lord & Miller who made The Lego Movie should reboot this series ASAP...oh and Pacific Rim & EoT FTW over any Bayformer flick!
I feel ya. It is really strange how he sexualizes these younger people.
***** Even so, she is playing a 17 year old school girl.
The action was great, the Transformers were awesome. Loved the Dino-Bots, and Mark Whalberg as the lead male character. The other characters were meh. 8/10
"Dino-Bots" as in they were redesigned. You DO NOT redesign childhood memories like the DINO-BOTS. Bay is an idiot!
He couldn't just leave them as they were. Grimlock doesn't even look much like a T-Rex. More like a wingless dragon :/ So bad, so bad.
I'm gonna go through a checklist to see if the movie was memorable:
1. Name 2 transformers besides Optimus and Bumblebee
2. What was the climax of the story
3. What was the story
Are you giving the movie an 8/10 because you like the movie, or because the film was actually great as a complete film and did what a film is meant to do: to make the audience feel and forget they're in a theater.
I real movie should be so good, you should FORGET to eat your popcorn until the credits start rolling.
General Zod 2 besides Optimus and Bumblebee: Galvatron and Bulkhead, the Transformer with the Soldier attitude and Weapons. 2, Optimus flies into space saying: I'm coming for you to his creators. 3, The story was this: Humans don't want the Transformers, Autobot, Decepticon, either way, and they kill them off one by one with the Help of Lockdown, a bounty Hunter. I gave it an 8/10 because Minus a couple problems, I enjoyed it.
***** Yea, its retarded to say that this film satisfied your Dinobot craving. WTF was that double headed thing?? If they wanted to bring back Megatron, they should've been creative and at least brought him back as a T-Rex, similar to Beast Wars. (i know it was a descendant, but w/e.)
General Zod The Story: Humans want all transformers gone, but the people believe that the Autobots were given sanctuary because they fought with the people. When in reality, the government and Tucci have come with an agreement with Lockdown, a bounty hunter, to kill all tranformers to harness their metal, what they are made of. By doing this, they were able to create their own transformers. Lockdown wants Optimus because the creators want him back. While Tucci has been creating the Transformers, Megatron has been using his parts to insert his consciousness into Galvatron. Just because it is complicated, doesn't mean there is no plot.
I kinda liked Transformers 4. At first at least. Somtimes i just like watching completly mindless movies. :D
But then after what i thougt was the climax of the movie, it kept going, and going, and going... for almost another hour and a half. It was really exhausting :(
I think it might have been a slightly better movie, if it had ended an hour earlier.
Yeah! Awesome Right :P
...
But seriously, i know it's technicly a horrible horrible movie. And to be honest: i only liked the first 45 minutes or so... then it continues for another 2 hours :(
Jeroen van Wees I liked it too :D
I'm still a fan of 'Bad Boys', 'Armageddon' and 'The Rock' but that's pretty much it when it comes to Michael Bay films. He has no desire to create a great film, just get paid for doing half-hearted directing.
Which brings me to my final question: Have we all come to the conclusion that TMNT is going to be a travesty? OK good.
Smart Boy!
***** He's knows how to direct the technical aspects of a film well, but when it comes to the actors? It's like he doesn't know what to do.
Haha, my gf got sick of Marky Mark's daughter by the time of the tight-rope sequence and asked "Why don't they just let her fall off?"
Best lines though?
"It just missed your power source"
"We call it the spark. It houses our life-force and our memories."
"We call it a soul."
AAAAAAARGH!!! I actually didn't make it to the Dinobots. I'm not getting the rest of that time back.
@@madaddies It’s just a fictional movie with just fictional characters after all. We don’t need to take it so seriously and personally if we’re already aware they don’t exist.
Its funny how every time there is applause at the end of these movies. Audiences love those movies and critics hate it...seems like critics have forgotten how to have fun in cinemas...
You can have fun in a movie theater. Doesn't change the fact that the movie was shit though. That's why people call them "guilty pleasure" movies.
ShonenStevenJames just because the movie didn't appeal to you doesnt mean it was bad
Jordan Harrington It's ironic how people reacted to this the way I did to Pacific Rim. It really made me think. Why is this movie OK but Pacific Rim was hard for me? I think my feelings were valid. PR took stupidity to an entirely new level. PR was an insult to the intelligence of the audience. Maybe I enjoyed the action in this one so much I did not pay much attention to logic issues. I did notice a robot magically fixed themselves but I did not care. I also considered that the repair may have been excluded from the movie. Robot WALKING in water deeper than them however.....
Carlyle's Picks Pacific Rim had a cohesive story. It had characters that were strong and developed throughout the film. It was easy to care about them. That's the difference. I can't care about ANYTHING in this movie. It's nonstop action, and the characters/story is terrible.
Carlyle's Picks Pacific Rim is not stupid, it's actually very smart. Especially visually.
That Mark Walberg impression was spot on XD
"Take an interest in science..."
@@CNWhatImSaiyan Shia’s the one who throws temper tantrums and screams Optimus’ and Bumblebee’s name all the time. Whereas Mark actually fights like a soldier with that cool alien gun.
Michael Bay probably payed Mark Wahlberg to say all that crap on how the movie is the best out of all of them and how it's going to be more than robots fighting. Damn you Michael Bay.
Maybe it is have you watched it?
Don't all actors get that part in contract, for almost every movie they do? To do promotion. There are so many awesome unknown actors and they could do better job for way less money. But studios pay promotion, not acting skills. That is why you hire them.
This gave me a migraine.
I don't suffer from migraines.
And this was in 3D too.

Personally, I think this film was the best out of the series. Now before you hate on this comment, hear me out. Spoilers down below, read at your own risk. Now my personal opinion, I'd give this movie an 8/10. You all have your opinions and i'm fine by that, but i'll stick to my guts on this one.
Would I watch again? Yes, yes I would.
Best Movie of the year? by all means no, that place goes to CA: TWS and GOTG, however its a fun movie to watch for the sheer fun of doing so. Its a popcorn flick, what do you expect?
1) I actually liked the humans. Tucci and Wahlberg did a fantastic job as lead characters, and for a while i thought Tucci was just gonna be another Simmons, glad i was wrong. (except for Kelsey Grammer's character, Though he did a fantastic job making me hate him, I so wanted him dead after his men started hunting Ratchet and brutally executed him.)
2) When Lockdown came to retrieve Optimus on the freeway, I literately got goosebumps, plus the music was fucking amazing along with it, made the scene feel completely hopeless.
3) The fights actually felt like they were fights, instead of just being everywhere. Not to mention the Chicago building Assault and the Hong Kong fights were well depicted.
4) The final fight with Lockdown was freaken beast, it took Bumblebee, Optimus, and Cade (Mark) to even have a chance at winning, and he was still beating the crap out of all 3 of them. Not to mention that music played during the fight! And I wouldn't say Optimus was winning at the beginning, Lockdown was quite fast, dodging and jumping from side to side, and still wasn't very injured even after Optimus' attacks hit him. Talk about being a badass.
5) Frank Welker as Galvatron (Megatron reborn) was very nice indeed, I never expected Megatron to be alive after the Chicago massacre, but not only that but he played the humans into making him a new body was just pure genius.
6) I loved the Autobot characters! Hound and Drift being my favorite. Also them having their own personalities was very fitting, made the movie way better. The heartfelt moments between Cade and Optimus really felt like they were real, and really setup the relationship for the endgame with Lockdown.
7) Lockdown. His speeches were so well done i almost forgot he was a Michael Bay character. When he brutally murdered that human without any hesitation (won't spoil who) i felt sick in the stomach.
8) Dinobots. Just them kicking ass for like 20 minutes on the bigscreen is enough to make this TF fan LOVE em.
All in all, this movie is just as good as the first, if not better. However there are still negatives, like the forced love story between Irish guy(Think his name was Sam?) and Tessa, no footage of the other Autobots getting REKT by the soldiers. The slow motion scenes weren't as annoying, but there was still loads of them in pointless scenes.
I agree with you. It was a good and enjoyable movie.
i agree too
You should review movies cuz people who said this sucks and had no story obviously didn't pay attention and just wanted to hate the movie. All these people who said it sucks and say it has no story are really stupid or just didn't lay attention.
This movie had the best story
It had the most robot fighting (which most people bitch about humans fighting too much)
The humans actually did something (mark)
And it was really good how the brought Megatron back and played the humans.
People are just hating on the movie just cuz its Michael bay. This guy is retarted rating it a d+ to me its a 8/10, would rewatch it. To me better then first 3
What a great comment! I don't mind people liking these movies but I get pissed off when people get mad at others for not liking them. In the comment section of Jeremy Jahns review of this movie people said shit like: if you don't like michael bay then you must be retarded! But you said your opinion in a perfectly polite manner and even made some good points! Well done :)
I agree with you, I really enjoyed this film and esp. the Auto Bots carried the film for me. All the other movies had almost no screentime for the Autobot-Team and this time .... oooomg Hound was freaking amazing. Loved every second of his standoff with bumblebee against a lot of decepticon-whateverthehelltheywere.
If I could rate this movie I'd say: I was surprised how much I enjoyed it. Humans that really did something for a change was refreshing to watch.
The only downside were imo the effects tbh. They were too plenty so it didnt "feel" as epic anymore. Sadly.
All in All imo this is the best one of the 4. I came in not really expecting something and got a lot of buttkicking and awesome Autobots for my money.
Oh my god. Someone other than me actually remembers Beast Wars!!
If you think about, Transformers 4 is the transformers movie everyone has been asking for. There had been so many complaints about these movies, ever since the 2nd movie.
People wanted the transformers to have complete redesigns ever since the first movie because people complained that they didn't look robotic enough. So Michael Bay actually redesigned all of the characters.
People kept wishing for Galvatron to be in these movies. You know what Michael Bay did? He put Galvatron in this movie!!!
People wanted Shia LaBeouf to FINALLY be out of these movies. And you know what? Michael Bay got a whole new cast of humans!!!
People wanted the movies to focus mostly on the transformers. And this movie focuses WAY MORE on the transformers than the humans.
Not only that, people wanted the transformers to ACTUALLY have personalities. And Michael Bay gave them personalities!!!
Michael Bay even went out of his way to add the dinobots. THE DINOBOTS. He didn't have to add them. But he decided to. He could've chosen metroplex for all we know. But no! He added the dinobots.
So people... PLEASE STOP COMPLAINING!!! This is the movie you've been asking for, this is what you got. A transformers movie that dominates the other 3. And since when was there a rule saying that Michael Bay had to make it JUST like the G1 series, when there was soo many autobots and decepticons, that I couldn't even keep track of who was who. So please. Stop complaining when this was the movie you've been asking, for since 2009.
I really liked how the first 3 movies were, just because that's what some people wanted does not mean that's what everyone wants. They actually focused on the humans a lot more then they did the transformers in this movie (not sure where you got that) in fact the transformers aren't even really in the movie until optimus prime is fixed by Mark Wahlberg, which is what like 45 mins in or so? Even then they focused on the humans a lot more then they did the transformers.
Apart from that the CGI progressively got worse until it was almost unbearable ( ironically right around the time the dinobots were introduced ) the story was a mess ( way to much content to cover ) the personalities for the transformers were very cliché ( the rebel, the honorable one, and the 2nd in command type ish ) the humor was terrible compared to the first 3 movies. all in all even if you were to look at the bottom 3 complaints you think people wanted changed it was a flop. ( I don't care for Galvatron and I really liked Shia LaBeouf )
All in All its a matter of opinion and I'm glad you enjoyed the movie but to arrogantly say this is what everyone wanted is wrong, have a nice day :)
***** I think you're over exaggerating about this movie. Transformers 4 wasn't THAT bad. At least this movie focuses more on transformers, rather than the humans. And to be honest, I still don't understand how this movie is even considered "bad". All people ever say is that this movie was shit. They never explain why.
98Chaosdestruction There is only one complaint we have left. Michael Bay needs to step out of the directors chair, which incidentally enough is happening with the fifth installment. Too bad his replacement is Liebesman.
I enjoyed the film a lot. I went in knowing pretty much what to expect, and I got it. It was entertaining throughout. I found the story to be quite interesting, with the developments of humans turning all mostly all Transformers into outlaws, and acquiring the technology for humans to make their own Transformers. The cinematography, fight choreography, and special effects were so detailed and realistic. I never feel cheated when I watch a Michael Bay movie. He delivers, and then some!
This is my favorite Transformers movie out of all of the live action films. I'm surprised Chris didn't talk about Lockdown. Arguably, the best and most terrifying villain of the entire franchise with the most chilling theme song. When you first see that huge cannon, it's death. I loved it
@@jotakuplays1536Definitely the best part of the film
Transformers B
Transformers 2 D+
Transformers 3 B-
Transformers 4 D+
Basically lol
Jeremy Jahns is better haha DogShit this garbage movie
Totally agree
My face is my warrant!
Chris, I had to subscribe. Thanks for the honesty, and yes, I know this is your opinion/critique, but it is one that I share almost with a passion. I think Bay can't work with fictional characters. He treats them as things and not as beings...not to mention the plot, and the script in this movie OMG :(
Mark, did he contribute to this movie? Well, he tried, but there is something I am not clear about. [SPOLIERS] When Mark's partner dies in the movie he seems not too bothered about it. Was that bad acting, or did he not care about his partner getting fried? I don't think any actor could have saved this movie, IMHO.
I love explosions.
I love humor.
I love gorgeous women.
I love special effects.
Thus I love this movie.
Having said that… Make sure everyone continues to put Chris’s name or your other favourite RUclipsrs’ names in those boxes when you get those free trials. It definitely helps them if you do that.
I just saw it. I recognize that it has problems, but I actually enjoyed it a lot. I have not seen the previous three films so I didn't know what to expect but I actually liked it. My two favorite movies of the year are Godzilla and Edge of Tomorrow and this was not nearly as good as them, but as a somewhat mindless action movie, it was pretty good. My favorite part of the movie was Stanley Tucci. He was hilarious! I couldn't stop laughing at one line he said.
It irks me knowing that this movie will make a shit tillion, while edge of tomorrow an amazing sci fi movie still hasnt even hit 100 million at the box office. (granted the marketing was terrible)
Transformers: banana
Revenge of the Fallen: lemon
Dark of the Moon: chair
Age of Extinction: carrot
I actually liked the movie...
im sorry you had to sit through this
You deserve an award for not having a stroke about someone else’s opinion on a film.
Me too
i actually liked the humor and the movie. the only thing that bothered me was the process of the daughter under appreciating the dad until close to the end but other than that i liked it alot lol ngl
I looove the concept of humans turning against them bcs of all the collateral damage and the robots have a LOT more character than the previous 3. I just dont really like a lot of the stupid side plots that are forced a lot in the movie and some of the characters are unnecessary. But theres a lot moments i like. And this shouldve been the end of the series cuz the 5th one really retconns a lot of shit and more stupid plot and its getting repetitive
Transformers: C-
Revenge of the Fallen: F
Dark of the Moon: D-
Age of Extinction: F
+John Paige Age of Extinction: Triple F-Minus
+CatMaster90001 No, that belongs to Revenge of the Fallen.
Team VLCN Please, buddy... Revenge of the Fallen is nowhere NEAR as eye-stabbingly horrendous as Age of Extinction is.
+John Paige I think Transformers 1 is more like a B/+
+CatMaster90001 I personally refuse to believe anything is worse than Revenge of the Fallen.
my ranking
5. The Last Knight
4. Revenge Of The Fallen
3. Age Of Extinction
2. 2007 (Original)
1. Dark Of The Moon
I love all the Transformer films, they are just pure fun.
TransFormers: LOVED it!
TransFormers 2: I kinda Liked it
TransFormers 3: LOVED it!
TransFormers 4: also LOVED it!
+Sebastian Fawkes - Sebastian's Mind SAME
***** I love the franchise and I too can't wait for Part Five X-3
Callum Leigh Montgomery they are pure shit, made for stupid kids
I liked Shia in the first movie. In the second one he was Meh. I couldn't stand him in the third one. Always screaming and demanding crap from everyone.
Mark on the other hand fought like an actual soldier. That alien gun he found is cool with unlimited ammo.
Honestly this one is one of the best in my opinion. The transformers(specifically the autobots) actually had personality and had some fun interactions with each other. Lockdown was actually a pretty good villian(killing him was a mistake tho). It set up a larger story with the creators and the kights. Marky mark was a protagonist that did something other than running and yelling names. I liked the autobots on the run concept. They started to explore the idea of an optimus who kinda hates humans because of their betrayal after all he and his autobots did for them(wasnt fully explored but i find it a kinda interesting and new take on the character and it fit with this incarnation). Also the final battle contained absaloutly no milatary presance, it was just cade and the autobots vs the decepticon ksi drones.
That said the moviewas way too long, the boyfriend was a pain. Galvatron was...there. The "romeo and juliet" scene was...a disgrace and the product placement is distracting.
The transformers movies in a nutshell:
Giant robots epically fighting each other, hot girls in shorts, and of course, a seemingly endless chain of explosions
Giant robots fighting? More like humans running away as the robots fight in the background with shaky cam happening so you don't see the robots.
I prepared myself to watch a lengthy movie with amazing CGI and lots of explosions, Michael Bay delivered well...
I really liked this movie. Its still a bad movie, but its a good bad movie imo.
i kind of liked this movie when i saw it in theaters. but then i bought the bluray later that year and now i hat the movie after watching it another 2 or 3 times. its boring.
I liked this movie but I like the third act of the movie. That,s the only good thing about this movie. To be honest,I,m gonna Transformers Age Of Extinction a C-.
It's*
Your english is broken.
polterghost no, no it's not. The characters outside walhberg are are god awful, and it's so fucking boring and uninteresting.
Coming from the guy who gave Godzilla a good rating. Talk about shaky cam, dude Godzilla was pissing me off with there cameras because they couldn't keep still on Godzilla, So now you want to complain about shaky cam on transformers. From what I saw, the transformers looked pretty clear to me. Also the movie was action packed for 165 minutes, one thing it didn't have was boring back up stories and they actually focused a lot on the transformers which is something they lacked in the previous two.
in my opinion I found the human characters more likeable than in the trilogy lol
Yea I thought they did awesome plus Marky Marc is up in there kicking butt.
Ralf Ortiz yeah much better than Shia going all like ''Optimus Bumblebee Bumblebee!!'' lol
Oh and dot forget that he ran a lot during battle lol.
Ralf Ortiz jajaja LOL xD
You know who was offered the role of Cade Yeager before Mark Wahlberg?
Dwayne Johnson

Dark of the Moon:C+
Age of Extintion:D
xXL3g3NdLaloXx nope atleast it wasn't 3 hours
Awesome review Chris. This movie blew so much ass. Another shitty Transformers birthday gift. D- Ninja Turtles will be the same dumb ass movie.
DaOlvaah
i'm guessing the latter on that one.
Once I saw Michael Bay in the TMNT trailer, I was like, "Oh it's ruined! Fuck it! Oh and Megan Fox (The Secret Pornstar, I bet) is in it too!? Fuck it!"
Cjflores99 I think everyone WISHES Megan Fox is a Secret Pornstar, but sadly she's not. Also, I don't care how bad these movies are, these are such guilty pleasure movies for me.
a D+ is being way too kind to this movie, it was utterly AWE FULL!
+Matthew Botha this movie is a f-
Chris, you're impressions are too on point lol
"Optimus, you gotta take an interest in science" LMFAO Chris Stuckmann
I actually really like this one and Mark Wahlberg gave a good performance he's one of my favorite actors
Person asking questions: have you ever had an aneurysm before?
Me answering: no but I watched Transformers 4
Transformers B -
Revenge of the Fallen F
Dark of the Moon B+
Age of Extinction D -
I bet my wife at the casino against Michael Bay and won
Harry Plinkett! I loved Red Letter Media's recent "Half In The Bag" expose on how much of a lazy, "copy & paste" effort the entire Transformer Series really is with the "All 3 Bayformer Flicks" simultaneous review. Bravo!
What did you win though?
Literally THE WORST movie I have EVER seen
Transformers: B-
RotF: FFF
DoTM: C+
AoE: B-
Yeah I liked thelast one. Fite me
I am glad I am not the only one who likes AOE
annie kitchen I mean like. The dinosaurs alone make it worthwhile.
You're not alone, I also like AOE, in fact it is my 4th favorite in the franchise
MioRaem *fight
24% percent on rotten tomatoes so far...I was expecting a big improvement ugggh!
13% now
Johnny Boy
and 8% with the top critics.. Lol Damn!
It's actually really good tho!
rotten tomatoes hates michael bay so they give movie bad reviews
The studio: we need more money
Michael bay: I'll do another transformers movie
"Come on, Optimus, take an interest in science!"
Looks like u got 323 12yr old boys disliking this.
Or people that just have different opinions. Just because you didn't like it doesn't mean everyone has to agree with you.
Joe C I didn't state my personal opinion, I haven't even seen this movie. Nice to know there are still humourless people around that I can occasionally annoy all the same.
I don't UNDRESTAND, is there a problem with 12 year olds or what? (Coming from a 17 yr old)
I am a 12 year old boy (well, was when it came out) and I hate this movie.
kalsolarUK im 13 and I hate the transformers sequels
Things I liked about the movie
* grimlocks design
*the autobots reunited scene
That's pretty much it
Why does everyone hate dark of the moon? In the context of the ongoing series yea it doesn't really fit, but on its own, i think its a fun action film
I feel if dark of the moon was the second transformer movie to come out then it would've been better received but when it came out people were already use to the routine
If you want to see transformers movie done right just watch the cut scenes of the video games
+Gipsy Eureka I love it way better than other transformers movies because we finally see the humans kicking some serious ass. The military actually helps quite a lot. I also love the fact that it feels like an actual war happening between dozens of autobots (even more so than the second one). Robots are shooting each other and dying everywhere.
The rest of it is awful tho :P
Michael Bay is one of the worst and not remotely creative modern filmmakers that exists today. Seriously, him and M Night need to be banned from touching any form of art ever again.
At least M Night still tries and wants to be good...Bay has said himself he doesn't care as long as he gets payed
NekoSoren doesn't matter if M night "wants" to be good, he's still delusional as hell and incapable of taking responsibility for obvious faults of his
well apparently The Visit wasn't terrible, good for him, but still doesn't excuse the last airbender, the happening, and afterearth. At least he should be admiting his mistakes like any normal human being.
He can't. He would be sued by Nickelodeon studios if he did. Also great pic yo. My favorite current TV show behind GoT
+Officer Dank Kush Lord Honestly, I think the Transfomers films are awesome and I guess I'm part of the problem, cause these movies are always going to keep making money. Just don't watch Bay's movies if you don't want him to make them. Just pretend his movies doesn't exist.
was it me, or did it feel like the only way they could get John Goodman was to promise him like 20 pages of dialogue and 1 liners lol, it felt like their was 7 straight mins of John Goodman just talking, like they hit record and just walked out the room and forgot to tell him "cut"
Dude...that was epic when you said every scene felt like it was the final battle, which is so true.
my only reason for wanting to see this is mark walhberg! other than that i kinda knew it would be the same shit all over again!
same here
This was the first film where I walked out of the cinema and thought "wow, that was a REALLY crap film"
Holy sheet, age of extinction was three years ago now. Wow.
YOU FORGOT ALL OF THE PRODUCT PLACEMENT!!!!!
My biggest confusion was the humans killing the auto bots despite the auto bots helping them save earth.
This is why I fear for TMNT movie cause of shakey cam.
While it wasn't the same director, it was quite bad in Battle: Los Angeles. Another reason for me to not see it in cinemas (Not like I was going to see it there anyway).
i will see all the TF movies to come but TMNT by Bay, KILL ME FIRST!
alias Alius Maybe it's due to the fact he's pretty much running the movie. He's not the director, but in a way he kind of is. I mean most of everything about the TMNT that we know of has pretty much all come from Michael Bay from the cast to the funding and we have heard absolutely nothing from the actual director of this film. Nothing. Hell in the trailer Michael Bay's name is in it instead of the director. What does that tell you?
Talon Owl Bay's name is only in the trailer because it has the most 'appeal'. People should stop blaming Bay-he is one of many producers.
Patrick Laceholder Okay, who's to blame then?
