thank you very much, very helpful video, i just got my RX100 VA just last week and cant wait to go out into the fields and try my best with taking pictures of the stars!
I was just camping in New Mexico at 8400 ft elevation. I had my RX100 with me, but no understanding of how to shoot the incredible scene. Thx for pointing the way.
@@BudgetAstroPics I'm going out camping this weekend and hope to take some night shots with this same camera, but I will have no lines or filters or post production. What settings would suggest? Thank you!
Great vid. Just what i was looking for. Going to 10000ft+ Himalayan region in September and wanted to try my hand amateur astrophotography with my RX100V. Also i had briefly tried the Playmemories app to take photos remotely. Can i use it too in this case without having to manually press the button?
Hi, thank you for your video, it has been pretty helpful to me. I plan to buy a Sony RX100 III soon to get in astrophotography and I wonder if it is possible to set an "infinite" focus in the manual mode. I was also wondering if it was possible or not to charge the camera while it was shooting. Finally, I was wondering if it might not be better to use a Canon powershot g7x mark II since it has an astrophotography mode, an infinite focus and a built-in timelapse mode. I hope you will find time to answer my comment, thank you in advance ^^.
Yes it is possible to focus to infinity with manual focus on the camera. I have found that the camera will not operate while charging I'm afraid. As for the Canon GX7 mark ii, I haven't seen it in operation so sadly I'm unable to comment on it's astrophotography performance. Good luck and clear skies which ever camera you choose. :-)
I've just found my rx100 ii. Is it possible to show the tutorial of the on screen settings, or is there a way you can save this setting as a preset option?
Thank you for the video, after years using a Panasonic Tz30 I think its time to upgrade, but question I have is how did you manage to create the video 9 seconds in to the clip. But it was an extremely detailed video thank you.
@@BudgetAstroPics thank you for responding back, that's a real shame, just wondering if you have any more videos on star photography for the Sony rx100m3
Very good video, thank you, looking forward to try this with my M4, however I didn't understand if you used the same settings for all 10 RAW files that you've put in the Sequator or is there a trick to change them slightly?
When you stack you want all the photos to be the exact same settings and be the exact same frame. Don't move the camera between shots. Just one after another until you're done
Some cameras has pixelshift. I came across a video, its called do I need pixelshift. A guy just stacked 6 pictures on top of eachother and got just as good of a result as pixelshift. I got exited and showed the video to some youtubers and they told me it was focus stacking. I said, no its not, and they told me I had no clue. Then I told the do I need pixelshift guy about my experience with those other youtubers and he said he thought what he was doing was pixelshift. I said, no, pixelshift is due to a sensor that move a bit and the camera takes several photos that are slightly different. He said I was an idiot and he had no time to deal with people like me. Later I found there is a phone that stacks photos on top of eachother to get image quality. I have yet to find a camera that does that in camera.
Nice video, I've just got my Rx1003 and going to do the same. Did you manually press the shutter for each of the 10 shots? I can only seem to get the camera to shoot 5 in a row by itself. I will probably get the intervalometer app and/or a separate external intervalometer (only way I think you can do an exposure for more than 30 seconds too...).
Thanks 👍 Yes I manually pressed the shutter button. I have got a remote shutter with an intervalometer but didn't use it on this occasion. I wish you success and clear skies 😊 (I will be doing a video on longer exposures using a clock work tracking mount with my RX100 when the skies allow 👍)
Thanks for the video👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
That’s why I’m still keeping my RX100 MIII even I got the Nikon Z 6II❗️🙌🏼
Fantastic video, I have a RX 100 V, this was very helpful.
Mike
Glad to have been of help. Good luck with your images 😊👍
Thank you for a very informative video.
I appreciated you only included necessary info and no unnecessary thing.

Great job! I'll try to do the same with my RX100.
Great upload and capture my friend :)
Great with this simple equipment. You got a great result. You're great, thank you
Lol... RX 100 V,VI,VII are as expensive as mid range APSC cameras
Man that was amazing 👍
Hey thanks 👍
Thanks. I will look into Sequator program

How do you stack, multiple shots in same postion
Sorry how do you stack, multiple shots at the same area
Tonight, I’ll try to take a time lapse of AURORA with RX100! Thx for the video
Awesome...
Hi Jason, how did you create the intro video with the stars.
Thank you for the video, after years using a Panasonic Tz30 I think its time to upgrade, but question I have is how did you manage to create the video 9 seconds in to the clip.

Software trickery using an App but I'm afraid the app no longer exists

Fantastic video, simple and straight to the point, thank you!
Thankyou 😊
Great!
Excellent, thanks. Could you possibly link the filter and holder in the description please? Also which region of the UK did you photograph from?
It was shot near Southwold in Suffolk 👍
@@BudgetAstroPics Thanks for that. I have found the Hoya RA54 Enhancer and the Mag Filter holder. 👍
@Wam7 where is it, i can't find it
Hello! What tripod do you use? Great job!
Thanks 😊 I just use a cheap Amazon basics tripod
Hoya 52 intensifier Red enhancer ???
Thank you
Thanks for the info, cant wait to try it. Will let you know if I succeed.
Please do. I hope you have clear skies and capture some great images 👍
How far apart are your ten frames taken? And are they the same settings?
It's best to take all frames in quick succession with all the same settings.
Thank you, I am taking my tax 100 to Philmont New Mexico, hopefully I won’t need the msg filter!

Jason does the Sony RX100 III have the ability for repetitive shooting at night with a 2 second delay in between? thank you
The intervalometer app from Sony should do what you want 👍
i have a RX 100 mkI, but find iti very difficult to focus at night. How do you focus your shots at night?

What filter did you use?
A Hoya Red Intensifier filter.👍
@@BudgetAstroPics Thank you.
Is this product correct?

can i use the same settings with sony RX100 VII?
Approximately yes. I'm not sure what the widest aperture is of the lens on the VII but the principle is the same 👍
The lens is not as 'fast' on the VII so consequently it is not as good as the III to V when it comes to astrophotography.
Thanks for the video, too bad I never have seen the milky way .Light polution .
That's a shame. Light pollution is an awful problem.
Rx100 mark 1?
Mark 3 👍
is there any difference between mark 3, mark 4 for low light photography?
@@cagrdemir3914 no, mark4 have faster shutter speed 1/32000 only
Hy model of filter
