@autpops I live in the Caribbean, northwest of Puerto Rico, at the top of a cliff in front of the ocean. I once woke up at 4am and the full moon was setting on the horizon over the ocean. It was a scene out of this world. Any tips on capturing this moment? No foreground, just the ocean, the horizon, the sky and the moon. Love these videos! Thanks for sharing.
A wonderful video. Very helpful. And Autumn is the perfect person to walk us through the process...personable, passionate about her photography, and very knowledgeable. Thank you so much.
Great shot of a glassy lake, excellent reflection, nicely done! I like to shoot the milky way over mountain lakes, old homestead farms and ranches, bristlecone pines, or the Great Sand Dunes with my iOptron Sky Guider Pro astro tracker.
What an excellent video with a truly clear explanation! Your photos are awesome! I haven't done this personally, but you've really piqued my curiosity to try this. Thanks for your time in doing this video.
Astro Photography is so amazing! and the work Autumn and Nate have such great talent and synergy! i love Aurora photography and have done a couple of Milky way shots, but want to do more of it exploring more amazing backdrops. hats off to you guys, the cojones to walk on Bear country at night ..lol thanks B&H for another great tutorial! Cheers!
Loved the music in the video. Great explanations of your work. I’ve tried Astro once and was so weird , middle of the open country by myself, I didn’t stay long. I’ll try it again, just need to get there early and situated. Great video. Thanks
This is very cool. I am already excited for our current storms to pass so I can get out after the milky way. It is 3 hours to dark skies so it is hard to just go if the weather is always changing. Right now the moon is right and the forecast shows 3 sunny days. I think it is time for a road trip tomorrow for my first milky way of the year! Thanks for pumping me up with your video. I wish I can shoot raw like everyone else but I dont have light room or any good editing tools to work on raw images so stuck with jpg. Better than nothing I guess. Wish me luck
Have not tried Astro yet. But star trails are so fascinating. Also infrared has some very interesting results. But the top of my bucket list is Aurora Borealis! I love your work. You have a great eye. All your photos I have seen are lovely.
Amazing shots! I'm highly addicted to Startrails and can vouch for how addictive Astro is :) ;) inspired by yours and Nate's work, I'm now doing a compilation of Time-lapse Trails shots :)
Hi great video, I also have the A7rv, have you used yours for Milky Way & do you find the noise ok. Have seen a few sites saying too much noise on the A7rv. Thanks
2nd trip through this great video. Any thoughts on most effective metering mode? I like using colored film over a foreground light source to warm or cool the foreground objects. Thanks again 😊
I've done Milky Way photography in 8 states and landscapes at night in more. More and more I've been getting into landscapes at night regardless of the Milky Way. Kind of makes sense since I live in the PNW where there are more cloudy nights that clear nights. My last couple of shoots were stars above clouds reflected in a lake and reflections of cabins in a puddle with just clouds.
I use the Haida clear light rear filter adapted to my Sony 14mm GM when shooting astro from Mauna Kea. Has really made a difference on the light over Kona. Wonder though am I losing any stops of light with it?
Excellent video with great examples! A couple things you did not touch on: 1) do you enable Long Exposure Noise Reduction or 2) do you enable high ISO Noise Reduction? I do neither with my Sony cameras, my brother prefers enabling both and wait for the extra processing time. I have an A7RV and A1. I have not used the A1 for Astro yet. Do you find one better than the other for Astro?
The difference in Lossless compressed vs uncompressed is like a WORD document residing in a ZIP file or not. The data is there, but Lightroom, Capture One, etc...can uncompress lossless files and "see" all the data as though it was an uncompressed file.
I don't get it. The images appear to be two frames on top of one another. And how do you see that much detail of the Milky Way in your photo? I've taken many astro photos over the years and nothing looks like that. There's no way you're just pointing a camera at the sky for fifteen seconds and seeing that. I don't have any new cameras though either.
Great video but just wanted to point out, in case you not aware, that you are not pronouncing a lot of the "T"s in your words and it sounds unprofessional.. A good example is the word "important". You are completely omitting the sound of the first "t" and it makes your speaking of that work sound really weird.
Where do you want to take nightscapes?

Really great shots! I love the one with the mountains and the reflection in the lake.
Beautiful video, beautiful explanations, beautiful smile and beautiful photos. Really inspired and amazed. Thanks a million 💐

Thank you, Autumn! 🦕❤️🙂📷🌌
Autumn, thanks for the video and sharing.
Just taking a test shot, turns in one of the most amazing astro photos ever.
Autumn has a talent for that.
I love all your turquoise!!! 👍☺
Excellent video. Very clear explanation or the nuts and bolts. Loved your composition with the mountains and the lake reflection as well as the barn.
Fantastic lesson. Thank You!

Thank you. I’m interested to shoot astrophotography this year. This video was incredibly informative and helpful.

hola saludo de panama pronto ire 8 de abril una isla muy hermoso en panama para ver la via lactia
Very thorough and thoughtful! Have you ever tried from Antelope Island? It's technically a "dark skies" location, but the city seems so close.

Where did you get that sweater?
Crop factor does not affect focal length, just the field of view. Why would you think that requires an exposure adjustment?
How is it that the mountains are so lit up in your shot? Is that simply from moonlight?
It is! The moon was about 40% illuminated that night
@@autpops cool, thank you!

Light painting (like what you did at Molton Barn) is no longer allowed in Grand Teton National Park.
Where can i get quality prints of my night photos?
In which orientation is it best to photograph the Milky Way
it's really up to you and how you want to capture the milky way.
Would really like in editing if you talked about removing planes. Yosemite has WAY too many over flights

Just to be "that guy" the people of Chelyabinsk heard a shooting star ... very very loudly.
average photos.. timelapse was cool
That background music is distracting. Why must so many video makers include background music which makes it difficult to hear the narrator?
no photopills? fail
Show more... talk less
