  • Removing a Load-Bearing wall to create a open floor concept is something that every homeowner wants to do these days, but knowing if you can remove that wall can be challenging. So in this video we show you how we removed a load bearing wall in our kitchen and installed beams to carry the load giving us a open concept floorplan we can design around.
Removing a load-bearing wall is a significant undertaking that requires careful planning and execution. It’s important to consult with an engineer to ensure that the wall can be safely removed without compromising the structural integrity of your home.

I am so happy my 90s home was an open floorplan already! This seems like a ton of work!!!

Im sure you could find a wall or two to take down still! ;) Is it a custom home or builder home?

@@HB-600 No walls yet but I did tear down that god awful breakfast bar and made a counter height peninsula in the kitchen. I redid my kitchen myself and also added a small island and extra cabs that were repurposed from the house next door to me. I was able to reno my kitchen for about 13k since I didn’t get all new cabs. So that’s something 😊

Very cool and informative! Thank you for this! Notice you went with 84 lumber instead of Menards...good call! Maybe unrelated question, but how can you tell if wall is load bearing if you have trusses that change direction? I know I need architect.

What's the difference between glu-lam beam and micro-lam beams? What is holding up the 2 GLB at the junction?

@damonunderwood813 brother do you know what's a DRYWALL HANGER AND A DRYWALL FINISHER, IT MIGHT NOT BE HARD. ITS THE QUALITY YOU GIVE TO CUSTOMERS. ALSO TO BE A DRYWALLER NEED EXPERIENCE OR THE DRYWALL FINISHER WILL CHARGE MORE FOR CRAP WORK. anyways. BE safe.

Those sheets of drywall are heavy! I have a ton of respect for anyone in the trades. There is so much learning, skill, craftsmanship, and back breaking labor involved.

@HB-600 I just reply to your. Way of responding DUDE IT'S DRYWALL! HOW HARD CAN IT BE. And I what I said, it's if you need a DRYWALL FINISHER WITH OVER 18 YEARS OF EXP. NOT COUNTING MY 5 YEARS OF APPRENTICE, LIKE I said. Be safe brother. Also I know how hard it's to hang drywall...
