    For anyone wanting to do a reno. PLEASE, don’t tear up cabinet, counters, or fixtures. You can sell them to others doing renovations for cheaper than brand new, you pay less to dump, and what you don’t sell you can use for another project like adding cabinets to the garage or shed, adding a new bathroom or mudroom sink, etc.
    People love to buy antique sinks and hardware but how many people are saving their own?

  • @yoman4802

    Just a friendly bit of criticism - this seemed unnecessarily wasteful. I get that not everything can be repurposed, but it looked like you guys purposefully destroyed as much as possible instead of dismantling it. I can imagine a great deal of the doors, cabinets, and other materials could have been repurposed pretty cleanly. I'm on a different continent with slightly different construction methods and materials, but so much here could have been sold or given away to people with a tighter wallet. Sure it would have taken a bit longer, but it would also in large part be safer for all of you and I can imagine a lot of people would have appreciated the charity.
    But otherwise it looked like a fun experience and I'm looking forward to seeing how your new home turns out. Plan looks amazing and it's all pretty inspiring

      You don’t see it in the video but a bunch of stuff was indeed donated and gifted - doors, wood, household items, etc. -but certainly not everything. And not to give anything away, but we also saved a bunch of materials as well and it’s going to be reused in the house. You may even see a future video on it, so keep watching 😊

    I can’t wait! I’m hoping for custom built projects to watch like custom kitchen, laundry, pantry room and bathroom cabinets!!! Hint hint, but no I’m excited for you and your tight nit family, love that they all came together to help destroy your house lol! I recently built my Mom a solid hickory vanity with a conservative yet mid century modern feel (Shara here on YT built two for her parents with custom trim and mine is definitely influenced by her style only I used hickory and tested myself with bridle and half lap joints), I still have the doors and drawers left because I also built a form and poured z countertops white cement mix… no it’s not perfect but damn near for never having poured concrete ever. I used slate texture for the seen edges, cut out for a side sink and lightly polished it using Cheng’s sealer which I’m quite happy with. It’s all in the form and preparation with concrete from what I learned but anyways I mention what I’m doing because there’s a moment or many moments when you’re working hard to provide a product or result for someone you love and care about and it starts to come together. Ik you’ll have maaaaany with your family and building this dream home. I love the layout, the extension of upstairs for a master suite, the layout of the first floor is perfect and timeless. Can’t wait for what’s next

    Luckily nobody was hurt in this demo. So many hammers swinging at the same time close proximity to each other. It was a bit excessive. Why not take things down in bigger chunks. It would have been less work.

    • @JBeans7711
      @JBeans7711 3 месяца назад +1

      My friend tried to donate to them. They do not make it easy to do so for “used” cabinets and other construction materials. They have lots of rules and the logistics are a challenge for homeowners, as they are more suited to builders with surplus. It all sounds good until you actually try to go through the process. As for selling or giving it away, that is a full time job getting people to actually show up when they say.
