- Yellow Stanley Faux Bamboo
What a journey this dresser has been on!
After realizing that all the trim on this piece was a rubbery plastic, I removed it. This created a very bland and plain aesthetic. So, I added back trim to each drawer and the center doors. This made a huge change!
After removing all the trim, adding new trim, painting in a beautiful blue, refreshing the vintage hardware and reassembly, this has an entirely new look!
Watch the entire process of this incredible transformation!

The pattern you made with the new trims is BEAUTIFUL! The brass details look AMAZING against this color! GORGEOUS!
Thank you so much!😊
Absolutely gorgeous!
Thank you so much! 😊
Wow! That was a lot of work but a great transformation. I love the color too!
Thank you so much! 😊 That color is a favorite of mine too!
Looks so much better! Love the color.
Thank you! Im glad you like it! 😃
I love the color! Beautiful
Thank you! 😃
Gorgeous! The navy color really makes the hardware pop. I love the trim, too.
Thank you! 😃 Glad you like it!
Very nice visión and work
Congratulations
Thank you very much!
Love it! Beautiful!
Thank you! 😊
My daughter has this same dresser but it’s finished in a medium brown stain. She got it at the thrift store for $75. It’s a nice mid century modern piece.
That’s great! I’ve never seen one not painted because the wood used was not meant for stain. This was a painted piece by the manufacturer. There are several makers of faux bamboo. How cool that she has one that can be stained.
Stunning! Lots of work but she turned out amazing! Great job!
Thank you so much! 😊
Stunning
Thank you very much! 🌹
This transformation was amazing! The dresser now looks fresh, beautiful, and very updated! I really loved the wood trim on the doors and drawers, and the liner that you chose was perfect!
Thanks so much! 😊
Wow, wow, wow! What a transformation!
I am always amazed how much difference cleaning the hardware makes! The new trim looks so, so much better than the weird plastic stuff. Lovely shade of blue, though my imagination keeps wanting to see this piece in black. 😎
Also, I think it is so sweet that the original nails are back in place along with the screws. I don’t know why, but I am always happy when the old nails and screws get to continue doing their jobs.
I believe the longer screws go into the doors, rather than the dresser, because they actually take more strain. They hold the weight of the door when it has swung open, whereas the other screws have the entire structure of the cabinet to stabilize their end.
Yes! The screws are that way for a reason. Many people don’t realize they are different until they are going through reassembly and are now faced with what to do with which screw.
I’m glad you like the end result!
Wow. What a difference. You did an amazing job. As always.
I am so glad your viewers on Instagram picked Converted Navy! That by far is my favorite color of all times.
Will you please tell me how long you wait in between your coats of paint and how do you store your paint gun with paint in it so you don’t have to wash in between your coats. (If it’s just a couple of hours or so)
I always enjoy watching your videos. You do such amazing transformations!
Take care.
Thank you so much! 😊 It really is an awesome color!
I am sure to wipe the tip
Of the sprayer with a damp cloth until it’s clean. Then I cover it with tape. If it’s hot outside, I actually take it inside and put in the fridge.
I can usually do all coats of paint, then empty the canister leaving the paint residue and add my topcoat and spray that as well before having to clean it. Hope that helps!

I wait at least an hour in between coats. But it depends on the outdoor temps. When it’s cold I have to wait longer. When it’s really warm, I can cut that down a bit.
@@olive.street.designs Thank you. I was wondering if I had to wait more than 1 hour. That doesn’t seem necessary.
Keep up the awesome work. 😊
I didn't believe this piece could have a second life. Wow, was I wrong! This is an exquisite piece. Amazing!
P.S. Thank you for not including a musical background. It's so annoying. I always have to mute those videos, and I wouldn't have been able to hear your narration if I'd had to do that.
Thank you very much!
NICE
Thank you! 😃
Seu trabalho é maravilhoso, meus parabéns
Thank you! 😃
The after is very classy but I did kinda like the before too 🤷
It was an unusual, but cool yellow…
me too. it was very unique. I like that you kept the bamboo 😊
I can’t believe how beautiful this turned out when it started out as such an ugly monstrosity! Great job!!
Thank you so much! 😊
Can you please turn your phone to film? For a better view, thank you.
Noted. Thank you. 😃
I just went through the same thing with pulling out nails after pulling off chunky ugly trim. I had to use every bit of strength I had to pull them out though (using regular pliers).QUESTIONS: Do you feel the Stix primer prevents bleedthrough ?? & do you prefer using Stix over Zinsser 123 primer? You did a good job with this makeover, and explain things VERY well. Thanks !!
Thank you! 😃 I prefer Stix over 123, yes. It seems pretty good with bleed through but if I have any after priming, I use the spray can Bin Shellac and once it dries, continue on with paint.
How come the large nails didn’t have heads? You were able to pull them out from the front.
They don’t have heads so they can be inserted from the front when the trim went on.
What is the color of the paint you used for this one? I have 2 pieces from this line. One is a lingerie dresser and the other is a bedside table.
Converted navy!

I find the phone screen very distracting. Turn it to landscape. It makes your film look amateurish.
Horrible! What a dismal colour! You robbed this piece of its vintage charm by removing the trim and rattan and then painting it such a glum shade of blue. Asian pieces are known for their brightness and joy! WHAT HAVE YOU DONE!?
I removed plastic on a mass produced piece from the 70’s. It was not rattan, it was molded plastic. All the charm of this piece is in the bamboo detail which is part of the structure and I happily kept. Nobody liked the yellow. It was old and dated.
You can really talk.
Haha! Not normally, but I can talk about furniture! 😃
.. but you left that horrible bamboo.. it could have been magnificent
That was actually part of the structure of the dresser. And I kinda liked it!
Great transformation!! Hated the yellow and even though I don’t like blue, it’s so much better.
