I am an avid restorations watcher on RUclips and If someone asks me to score this restoration, I will give you the full marks. It was meticulous and detailed. I appreciate the way you transformed the back of the buffet, very neat and aligned. Moreover cleaning every nook and corner of the article with sanding was a great job. Keep it up mate… love the all natural look.
Well done, I enjoyed watching the transformation. And I also enjoyed that you don't talk from the first to the last minute of the vlog, so for me it was much more relaxing. I will watch all your videos. Greetings from Germany!
A beautiful work! The precision you had with each piece is impressive. Congratulations. I send you a "hello" directly from Minas Gerais - Brazil - It's a perfect job!
Beautifully done. The reeded glass adds a touch of class to an otherwise primitive piece. And I wouldn't have guessed the brass under the black goo on the pulls. A+ restoration
I love rock ‘n’ roll by Joan Jett and the Blackhearts. I started singing it before I was done reading the lyrics! Why is such beautiful wood painted? Yes, it had some flaws, but it’s still beautiful. I never would have guessed that the hardware was brass! I’m glad you kept it.
@@truetinyresto Yes I am enjoying them very much and It would be great to hear you talk if that's something you might like to do. Also at the risk of sounding proud I am honored to know I am the first to buy you a coffee.
Not Bothered Starting? On the Contrary! You Saved This Buffet from Drowning in all that White! And Adding the Glass to the Doors Really Opened it up and Made it More Beautiful. Most Importantly, I was Very Entertained (The MOST important thing, Really)! I Know, It did Bite You but What's a Little Pain for so Much Beauty? Great Job!
So cool!! Gorgeous result. Glad you persisted with it as tempting as the burn pile might have been 😜. Amazing how good the handles turned out. I do love a good stripping vid 😂.
It's clear you're a master of your craft. I respect that a lot. As far as personal preferences go, however, I'm not sure the natural look does this piece a favor. Also, I wonder: If you planned to leave it natural wood, why did you fill the holes with a dark wax?
Thank you. I’m not keen on painting any natural timber, I feel if you’re going to paint timber it may as well be custom wood. This piece was very poorly made however it uses a native New Zealand timber called Kauri which can be expensive and hard to obtain, if it was made from anything else I probably would have put the thing on the fire as it wasn’t really worthy of the hours that went in to it. The original maker used reclaimed timber so my best guess is that the timber was originally floor boards and as such had many historical dents and nail holes, many of which had dark staining that couldn’t be removed with acid. To conceal these holes and dark colours would have taken way more time than the buffet deserved so I used dark wax to highlight the imperfections and history rather than conceal. Thanks so much for watching.
Okay I am biased. My husband is a Kiwi. We met and live in Vancouver. On one of our trips home, we did buy a knife block made from swamp Kauri, and nearly had to mortgage the house to do it! I could not believe how glorious the buffet was on the reveal. Absolutely beautiful. The knobs that you took off were the most mediocre things ever, but when you shined them up they were absolutely perfect. They were the right accent as well as belonging to the to the history of the piece. Well done. If only the rest of the furniture you bought turns out as well. Subbed
Wow what a transformation. That stripper was amazing, how much for the 15 min session ? Also that Selleys All Clear looked the business. Is that expensive ?
I am so disappointed that you used silicone to place that glass. My husband did that on my cabinet fronts 30 years ago and when it came time to refinish them recently, we couldn't get the glass out. There are so many other ways to install glass. Silicone is not the way to go.
I've wondered what the answer would be to the question for far too long, so here it is....when putting on paint stripper why don't you just use disposable gloves, dollop the goop onto the surface and literally use your hands to smear it on instead of faffing about with a paintbrush??
Is that what you do? I can try it. I guess it would just be a pain if I needed to put on more stripper and my hands are covered in chemical, I’d need to de glove and start again
The placement of the door knobs! Along with all the other kudos. Lovely!
Thank you! 😊
Stunning 😊
Thank you! Cheers!
Great idea to add the glass to the doors. The piece turned out gorgeous!
Thank you

So glad, you just used beeswax and did not stain it. Everyone is using wallnutstain, makes the wood look all the same. Like the buffet a lot 😊

That would be cool! I have a kitchen island project coming up
I have this piece, or it's American twin, and I turned it into my kitchen island. I put wheels on it for mobility. It is awesome.

This turned out so nice! I like that style. The reeded glass looks super, and it appears as if those knobs are copper; are they? Bravo!

I love rock and roll Joan jet😂 I so needed to get out of the sun to get that right!
Joan Jett, huh? You are either a (late) boomer like me, or someone who just appreciates '80's rock.
The one after boomer. Thanks for watching

The buffet is gorgeous but it drives me nuts to watch someone unscrew hinges, manually, one by one 🤬Had to skip to finished product.
Thanks For Watching
I don't dig your choice of finish. With so many dents and fillings it would look much better stained or painted IMHO
