This was a failed up cycling project that I got off Facebook Marketplace and did my best to make it look as good as when it was new.
Enjoy

I wonder if a local history museum would or could use the social security card. I've always found bits of history like that interesting! Lovely restoration as always. 💜
The restoration of this sideboard is fabulous. Your patience in finding all of the tiny repairs needed shows off your skills and talent in restoring furniture. Thank you for sharing.
The restoration of the exterior is stunning and you did a perfect job making it beautiful. Equally impressive is the detailed attention you give to the interior, underside, and back of each piece. The total restoration/refinish is beautiful.
The next project is "Cats of Flippingdrawers" Calendar -- Rufus and company lounging around looking nonchalant and cute on all your gorgeous restorations!
The transition was impressive. In the be3ginning I wondered if it was different pieces cobbled together. By the end it made sense. And the color choices really worked. Nice piece. Love to see old things made beautiful and saved. Glad Rufus hasn't fallen down on his supervisory obligations.....
Thank you and yes, only supervising, no work whatsoever 😂
Rufus is no dummy!
That gold shade you choose for the hardware is really perfect, brings the whole piece together 😁
This is amazing! When I first saw this piece, I wondered why you would waste time on it. After you finished, I understood. It is beautiful! You do such lovely work.
Awesome! Thank you!
I love your work, and I want to let you know your little break announcements.. 2000 years later.. crack me up every single time! I enjoy your channel more than many of the others, just you explaining as you go along in my opinion is much better than just silence with machine sounds.
Good evening from Barcelona Spain
Barcelona España
Rufus did such a good job!
You have such vision and faith! Even when finished to your amazingly high standards it still doesn't float my boat. But then, what do I know?
Those circular lazer cut veneer patches were absolute genius and respected the history of this unusual piece in a way I've never seen before. Thanks again for a really informative and instructional video.
Bless you.
Awesome 🤩 glad to enjoyed it 💛
Yep
Nice wood grain and great finish 🙂
Thanks 👍
First time watching a live one!!!
awesome ! welcome
What a transformation from fugly to lovely! I love your respect for the history and future of this piece.
This is such a beautiful restoration. The repairs, in my opinion, make it look more authentic. After all, the average owner wouldn’t replace the entire veneer, either. I liked watching the laser, too.
The refurbished hardware is simply gorgeous, and it looks great. You made an excellent choice with the stain and oil, and the drawers and interior are beautiful. That restore a finish stuff is pretty nifty, and I always love the results you get with the feed & wax.
Thank you very much!💛
U o
This is a very strange and unusual piece, but the furniture gods must love you for all the care you put into it.😊
I love the art deco Era furniture and design. This is stunning!!
This piece looks like it's from the 1950's or thereabouts. It has great bones. I am honestly never disappointed with any project you tackle. This one is certainly no exception. It is simply breathtaking, much as it was when new no doubt. I would love to have that in my home! Very much my style and taste. I'm sure you could probably sell it for somewhere between $1200.00 to $1800.00 Its certainly worth it.
This restoration is really good. An unusual piece with beautiful hardware. Thanks for sharing.
Another amazing transformation, and a longer video. Made my day
You have the patience of a saint! Another amazing rescue!
I am glad you used the rubb & buff instead og bronze spray paint. It looks stunning 👍
I know some may think all the work you do on the parts that don't show (bottom, back, etc) is unnecessary but it is your attention to detail that I really appreciate and why of all the furniture guys on RUclips I watch you. As usual great job!
Amazing! You are the very best. I have not seen anyone else take the care you do in all your work!
I think you did an amazing job! It looks so much better! I love your attention to detail!
Very lovely. Beautiful wood grain. Thank you gor restoring it. What a save!
Glad you enjoyed it
Lovely work. It’s a really beautiful piece. Again the color work is outstanding. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for the nice videos and all the effort you put in the restoration of that amazing old pieces. I very enjoy watching 👍📺
This might be my favorite piece yet.
Like it just came out of the factory. Incredible.
Very kind ☺️
Beautiful! That deserves a coffee!!
Thank you beautiful person 🥰 very kind of you.
What a beautiful transfermation ❤
I love the color! It came out beautifully!
You never cease to amaze me. No one and I mean no one, goes through the length and depths to achieve perfection. Again, the attention to detail shines through. You don't have a woodshop, you have a science lab. There are science labs that aren't as tidy and organized as yours. Well done Sir 👏 👍
Thank you 🤩
wow, amazing job! I like to follow your videos when I'm working, it's calming
I love art deco design😍
Oh my gosh…beast turned into beauty!
Thank you beautiful person 🥰
Beautiful Jay. Great work!!!
As usual, you did a fabulous job!

Fantastic job!
Cheers!!
It’s beautiful!
Wow awesome job
Great job!
Again a superb!
Felicidades 😊
It is beautiful ❤
The difference in the before and after is amazing. The end result is just beautiful. Your attention to detail is what makes your pieces stand out from other restorers.
Wow beautiful
Trabajas muy bien y me gustan mucho todos tus trabajos eres muy fino trabajando saludos
Wow good job❤
Excellent work! I wonder what it would look like to use brass discs to fill the top's veneer repairs. Draw attention to the repairs instead of hiding them?
It is just a wonderfull result
Wow, what a gorgeous piece! There was a lot of work put into this piece to restore it's beauty! You definitely succeeded, it's beyond stunning! Rufus is the cutest assistant 😊! Absolutely gorgeous job! Love the hardware, it's awesome! Exquisite! 😊❤
That foam stuff is a great product. You have wonderful, creepy imagination.
Absolutely beautiful! The time and care you take for each piece you do, wonderful.
Such a beautiful job and totally absorbing video. I wonder if the mixture of mahogany and oak was due to wartime shortages? 🙌🏻
Could be🤷♂️ thank you 😊
Как красиво, да у вас золотые руки.
Lovely
I wonder if the doors were added later. Maybe the original was open shelving on the bottom
Ficou absolutamente incrível!!!! Sua dedicação é incrível de se ver tambem
Amei seu trabalho e a música gratidão 😂🎉
I'm thinking broken decorative doors where the inner panel has been removed and mdf inserted. Not sure the base is original either. Think you have a better remake of the cabinet where the base and doors were replaced (80s/90s). Then an attept to upscale it with paint later. The 1930s type Talent F H Marshall have a very similar patina on the inside.
Muito bom, parabéns.
It pays to have all the tools when you want to tackle a full restoration of old furniture
@FlippingDrawers no surprise it looks far better than it did...
I've never used the wax stuff...how does stain/varnish react to it? My hands are filled with arthritis...repeated clicking of a lighter would be painful. Can I use a soldering gun instead or would it be too hot?
I recently removed the baize or felt from a few different items...I soaked it for a minute and most of it pulled up easy. Still had some I had to scrape but so far no sanding required. Hope this helps.
Were the doors just replaced with MDF?
Did they put two pieces together?
Another amazing bit of work! But tell me, when you use the word 'gem' what word are you *actually* thinking of? 😂
could those burn marks be made to look like knots in the wood?
art deco
is it possible they could have recovered with new
Eu adoro seu trabalho mas eu queria muito ver uma peça ficar original como você mostrar antes de restaurar ou seja restaurar deixando linda como sempre você deixa mas igual era, só uma por favorzinho 🤗❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
You mean painted bluish white? 🤭
Superbe
Come diz o nome da musica
Another life saved
Excellent restoration!! Doing a Google image search on this beautiful piece took me to an exact match for sale on Cherish. It appears to have had a small hutch with sliding glass doors that sat on top. As far as the mystery wood under veneer, molded plywood was often used to create the curves on the industrial mass produced furniture called Streamline Modern that emerged from the more labor intensive Art Deco style in the mid 1930s, which I believe this piece is representative of. 😻
Thank you. I would have continued wondering. I don’t have the patience…….. lol
I would love to see the link to the piece on “Cherish.” What a lovely piece! Subbed.
Art Deco? More like Art Crapo.

The anachronistic National Insurance card is not too hard to understand if you picture a lady with a shoe box of old papers from her dad, stuffing the box in that drawer, and then forcing it shut so that something got caught in the frame.
I have seen veneer where there was a knot in the board it was peeled from, that ends up with odd unmatching circles in the final finish. That's what this looks like.
Beautiful, as always. I just hope the value is sufficient to justify all those hours of labour!
I don't do coffee, but I could make you a nice cup of tea 😁
I swear, Jay. I honestly didn’t think you could turn it around. I should absolutely know better by now. You NAILED it!! Beautiful work, as always!!
You are a very talented young man. I appreciate seeing how you use various tools and equipment to restore. I agree that it is an art. I love all the videos I have viewed and your furniture is beautiful. I went back to some of the older videos and it is cool to see how your talent and ability have grown. I always get a smile from the neighborhood cats who love to inspect your labor!😂 keep restoring the old, new and dumped treasures you find.
I love that you are willing to put so much work into the repairs to bring these pieces back to the original beauty. Great job on this one.❤❤😊
Thank you very much!
Continue to be impressed with the work you put in, on your projects. You never give less then perfection. Well done Sir 👏
Thank you very much!
I wish I could adequately express my amazement at how beautifully you have restored this piece. A pile of junk to something anyone would be proud to have in their home. Bravo!
You don't only repair beautiful furniture, you resurrect it! Amazing results!
You brought her back to life! Wonderful job! Very clever to use a laser to remove the burn spots . You just boggle my mind sometimes. Restore a finish is one of my favorite products of all time. Thanks for sharing this with us!💜
You are so welcome! Thanks for watching
Your salvaging the top veneer is nothing short of miraculous! I looked very hard at the final result and couldn't see anything worth noting. If the repairs are visible "in person", they can't but give the piece character. I love watching you work.
WOW!! The transformation is unbelievable! Just an awesome job!!
Thank you so much!
It's an amazing transformation! 😍
I love watching the small repairs. It's art.
Very fine craftsmanship, NOT art. "Art" means something else. I DO AGREE that he is one of the finest.
Artistic craftsmanship
@@jenn976I think you put it best. He doesn't just store furniture, he breathes life into each piece.🇦🇺😊❤️
Jay, as always, this turned out just beautiful!! I have a feeling, that somewhere along the way the original cabinet doors were damaged and then replaced with ones that were "close enough". Maybe that's why they were trimmed with solid oak. This may not be it's first sympathetic restoration. Just a theory...
Beautiful! I love your term 'sympathetic restoration' ! You and Transcend Furniture Gallery do such beautiful work - and neither of you is US! I can't hope to buy your projects - just admire from afar! [Amazon Wish list doesn't load btw]
Thank you very much 💛 Angie is awesome and thanks for the info. Will fix it.
I agree with your choices. They are my favourites because they do fantastic work, teach as they go, and have soothing rather than screeching voices.
If you think they are far from you, try from a different hemisphere, in more ways than one.
OH. MY. GOODNESS!! You honestly FLOOR me! This turned out amazing and honestly, I didn't think it had a chance...but sure enough.... "2,000 years later" you had it!
What a fabulous restoration! I've said it before but it bears repeating. Your attention to detail is second to none.🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Thank you Donna 💛
