    I wish people would have more furniture restored that was built in the earlier years. The furniture from the past is built much to last a lot longer than the stuff you buy now.

    • @helenanilsson5666
      @helenanilsson5666 7 месяцев назад +6

      Yeah. The sad reality is that it's getting harder and harder to find products made to last. On one hand, I want to rail against the mass production ideal for driving craftsmanship to near extinction, on the other hand I'm painfully aware that mass production is the reason I and many other working class people have any comforts at all.

      I was a traditional cabinet maker for 55years here in the UK. Lack of quality pieces is just a sign of the times. People want to change their interiors at the same rate as their iphones. It got ever harder to make a living even though I had built a solid reputation. The other issue is the cost of good hardwoods. I look at prices now and know I couldn't make my craft pay anymore.

    I honestly go feral for dark stains like espresso and walnut, your channel is so therapeutic in a sea of painted cream furniture 😍

    • @LaughingInTiny
      @LaughingInTiny Год назад +30

      Oh I can't even watch the painted ones. Other than here, Transcend and K.S. I refuse. My stress level goes straight to level nine when I see gorgeous antiques getting chalk painted because very soon you're going to see that trend wane and so many of them will be headed for the landfill. Not to mention all the "inspired viewers" who go buy something to destroy because they do a horrific job not realizing the work involved.
      Rant over. But yeah, I hear you. Restoration channels are my happy place. 😊

      @@LaughingInTinyto be fair, I don't mind botched or ugly restorations that'll go out of style faster than my clothing style. By not making them beautiful or timeless, it leaves plenty of beautiful old pieces still available for people in the future to enjoy doing correctly. ::Gets off of soap box:: thank you for tuning into this PSA.

    i love it when you use normal audio with sped-up video. it makes it very enjoyable to watch, especially when you’re outside and you can hear the birds. really liked the funny bit with the staples as well, made me chuckle. would love to see more of that incorporated in other videos as well. the piece looks absolutely beautiful as always! would never have thought you found it on the street now. i bet omar has second thoughts about throwing it out hehe

    A little felt on the bottom of the small drawers will prevent any scratches on the desk top. Great job!!

    I like the antique roll top desk. How lovely to sit and write some Letters to a dear friend. So glad you didn't do a modern makeover. Thank you for this video. 😊
