I remember the 60's and 70's very well. Most of it is best not remembered - a lot of avocado green and shag orange carpets that made me ill, even back then. But this is what the best designers were aiming for; a futuristic look with clean lines and functionality. This would look at home in a bay on the S.S. Enterprise! Very well done!

The brass rod supports were genius, and look like they’ve always been there. A desk is a much more useful piece of furniture than a vanity. When you first put the top on, I was thinking it didn’t look very mid century, and said to myself, “those edges need to be beveled”…and seconds later that’s what you said! I didn’t think of edging in black, but you’re right - it makes it look thinner, and echos the black at the base. Great piece!

I haven't finished watching and have not read any comments yet. I am predicting a desk with shelves. That's all I can think of, other than 2 separate nightstands so I can't wait to see!
Wow!!!! That turned out so awesome!!!! Love it, and it's a desk and a beautiful one at that!

Your new desk is beautiful. You’re a very skilled & talented artist/craftsman and I enjoy watching you rescue furniture from the trash and reimagining it’s use. Thank you for your channel 😊

Ha! I thought you were gonna make these pieces into nightstands…..which obviously would have been a total waste. Never imagined what you accomplished here. Your wood finishing is perfection as is your veneer work. An exceptional piece. As always, but even more so. Congratulations Jay. 🤩🤩🤩

@coloredcaboosecreations NAILED IT!! I wish I could vote for her, like other build-off challenges on RUclips.
Thank you for setting this up! I was fortunate enough to add 4-5 new subscriptions to VERY talented people!!

Jay, I’ve watched many of the videos in the challenge. But yours is the winner as far as I’m concerned, second was Mayfield’s dresser. Congratulations!
