The brass rod supports were genius, and look like they’ve always been there. A desk is a much more useful piece of furniture than a vanity. When you first put the top on, I was thinking it didn’t look very mid century, and said to myself, “those edges need to be beveled”…and seconds later that’s what you said! I didn’t think of edging in black, but you’re right - it makes it look thinner, and echos the black at the base. Great piece!

I remember the 60's and 70's very well. Most of it is best not remembered - a lot of avocado green and shag orange carpets that made me ill, even back then. But this is what the best designers were aiming for; a futuristic look with clean lines and functionality. This would look at home in a bay on the S.S. Enterprise! Very well done!

Wonderful job Travis! I wanted grey carpet in the early 70’s. Everyone thought I was nuts. The ‘floating’ top is very much of the 60’s/70’s and emphasizes those clean futuristic looks. I will admit I am not quite sure how you could see the finished desk in that brick papered horror, but that must be your inner artist showing up. Great job, very interesting video and thanks so much for this channel.
