      Had an old Honda accord years back. The thing consumed about a quart of oil every tank and a half or so. I had to top it off so frequently that the oil always stayed clean looking on the dipstick. Drove it for years without ever giving it a proper oil change....just very regular and "routine top offs" with an occasional filter. Consumption issues aside it still actually ran surprisingly well when I sold it.

      Ya the FL1995 filter holds 1.3q, I always wondered who wrote those specs up. And the biggest problem ppl cause themselves when changing diesel filters is not prefilling. U will literally blow the filter apart internally which will cause the motor to go into bypass and then some point bearing failure. Watched a diesel tech do it on a Volvo semi. And then tried to blame it on me. So I pulled every work order I had ever done in that shop. And not once had I ever touched the truck. It ended up putting half the shop against the other half. Macidonians vs the Americans. The shop manager hated me cause I didn't take his Bs and didn't let him talk down to me like I was some idiot. I told him get the f out of my bay. And he tried to get all up in my face running his mouth. I just pull my shirt up and set my gun down in my tool box and said, let's go outside little old man since u wanna flap them dick suckers of urs I will give ya some hand Botox. My 2 buddies ended up getting between us and walked him out the shop and into the office. He ended up firing me a few months later after he made some B's up. Half the shop left that following Friday.

      It shouldn't. There are actually 2 tubes. One part is on the lower side behind the rear cover. I'm sure a hack mechanic has been in there and bent that end of it in the lower side. Whenever u have ur upper oil pan resealed again tell the mechanic to take a look at that when the upper pan is off. I always pull the rear cover anyways when doing upper pans to get a new gasket there and do a rear main while it's apart. They can replace the tube then. Hack mechanics... worthless.

      agreed i have a mazda 6 and according to mazda it holds 4.5 quarts but after adding 5 quarts it still reads under half on a flat surface so id end up putting in about 5.4 in order for it to read just under full. well i decided to just put in 4.5 my last oil change and i swear it drives better and pulls harder. god knows how much my poor motor has suffered. dont always listen to the dip stick the manufacturer knows best. In my time since changing oil on many different cars now to ive found not every motor reads on the full line or dot when the correct amount of oil is added. my 3rd gen mazda 6 is one of the very early 2014 models ive found The late 2014 3rd gen mazda 6s and beyond have a longer dip stick so i think it was a manufacturing error wand the dip stick on my motor is to short which caused me to over fill it thinking it was low.

    • @steventurner1628
      @steventurner1628 Год назад +25

      The reason the oil gets black super fast is because it’s a diesel. Particulates from the combustion process make their way into the oil past the rings and valve guides/seals (there is always some of the combustion process that ultimately gets past the rings no matter how well you build an engine) Totally normal, you’ll see this on all diesel engines.

      I have a 2016 F150 as well and got the fumoto drain valve on the oil pan. I love being able to hook a hose up to that thing and go into the bucket. It’s a quarter turn valve that has a clip you put over it to keep it from moving in between oil changes and you’ll never have to mess around with the drain plug ever again..
      The main reason I was responding to your comment was I believe the oil that’s in the turbo and the lines going in and out of them on both sides may equal about a half a quart alone. Plus you had all the other spots in the engine and that probably makes up for the whole quart missing .

    for an example a fluid and filter change on a transmission can be 4.5-7 qts but thaat transmission dry can take 20 qts easy. the converter alone can suck up quarts of fluid. engines do the same all the oil passages lifters and the turbo and lines hold alot of oil. oil coolers too.

  • @thelongranger55
    @thelongranger55 Год назад

    If we’re talking transmission Just add bigger transmission pan & increases oil capacity, once you increase oil capacity, you have lower temps & you increase oil change interval , more oil = more miles . if you have 2 trucks with same specs & one has 2-4 more quarts oil in system it won’t get dirty as fast obviously ,if we are talking engine oil then add bigger or extra oil coolers to the system , after first refill of engine oil with bigger / extra oil coolers every change of oil will be the same as before for a drain and refill , only difference now is you have more oil in the system at one given time

  • @dawong8124
    @dawong8124 10 месяцев назад

    Why don't you use a vacuum system to fill the coolant. In my experience, you can find week points in the cooling system. Most common one pressure drops, telling you have a leak without filling the system. Worse part it's testing the radiator seal. It happens but just means that radiator about to fail.

      No reason to change hpop oil in a 7.3l if u always do reg oil changes. And 2ndly the stock hpop go bad after about 120k miles. Plus the seals leak at around the same time. So if ur doing seals, go buy a racing hpop. Much better quality and way better pressure and they last forever. My buddy did one on a brand new e350 years ago and the damn truck wore the rings and cycliders out at about 980k. 4 turbos and 6 stock tranny's in that thing. U could spin the motor over by hand just by grabbing the belt. It was wild. The guy hand a carpet cleaning company. He was pissed cause they just put a brand new turbo on and breaks all the way around.

      @@davidmoore8741 I agree with you in most cases that it’s unnecessary. But in my case the truck had been sitting for years (at least 5) and started up and used occasionally. So when I first got the truck I did siphon out the HPOP and refill it. Along with an oil change. I must say it was worth it with the deposits that got siphoned out along with the old oil. I likely didn’t siphon out all contamination but it was good enough for me. Not to mention the truck did sound better afterwards. So it must have done something
