- In anticipation of a new heavy duty engine oil API classification aimed at improving fuel economy with oils meeting lower high-temperature/high-shear viscosity standards, Shell did a field test of an experimental low HTHS-viscosity version of its Rotella engine oil. It shared the results with trade press editors on May 14, 2014. Here Howard Hill, engineer, lubricant technology, explains the results to HDT Editor in Chief Deborah Lockridge.
I run rotella in my 1995 honda shadow 1100c cycle ! Runs mint, shifts like butter, and still not burning a drop of oil at 75,000 miles !
Rotella T6 has done a great job protecting the engine in my VW passat 2.0t! Thanks guys!
I put 15- 40 non syn in a 79 dodge d100 with a slant six motor. after first change at 1000 miles then after that every 3000 miles. It got most of the sludge out by the time we took the oil pan off (15000 miles later) to change the gasket. i was told that what was left in no way was that engine that clean for the fact it was 40 years old. it reduced blow-by from gummed up piston rings that didn’t seal properly by a good bit seems like it got the oil control rings to seal again. I noticed less smoke came out exhaust as I drove it towards the 15000 mile mark since i owned the truck with your oil being put in. To the point where only when cold it would blow some smoke. When warmed up no blue smoke was visible. And the oil consumption drastically lessened to where I didn’t have to add any. For 3000 k miles The slant six had about 184k miles on it. Your oil is amazing!! My friend who is a diesel mechanic told me to put your oil in that engine. And he said “drive it around”...
After reading an article in a VW forum, I researched and started using Rotella T6 on my 07 VW Jetta 2.5l. After a while using that oil the engine sounded quieter...At 87k miles, I replaced the valve cover gasket and was amazed of how clean the valve train looked. Been using Rotella still at 126k miles, and engine is still running and sounding good.
How’s it still running?
@@dad3562it’s dead 🤣🤣 Rotella is a good detergent oil to clean but most oils will do same if you change on time.
@@alejandrotobienne8220 RIP :(
I' run 15w40 T6 on my 2017 CBR1000RR ,great performance*****
You did not say anything about the others, that is why I watched ?----> I agree it's great oils you formulate, I used them in my cars & mostly motorcycles, and let me say thanks for including motorcycle in your specs, and testing for certs; ) also you have a better price then the motorcycle branded oils, and by a large margin. yl
I would not recommend it for motorcycle, tests on different motorcycles showed 37% viscosity drop within 4 thousand k, for example Motul 300v lost only 7% of initial viscosity.
@@trimor234sholder7 that isn't a problem if you change your oil every 2-3k miles for $20 a gallon!!!!
I'm currently running this stuff in my 2jz no issues so far, 5w-40 T6
does it work for japanese sportbikes?
I run t6 in my gas passengers cars for years and oil change once a year
What is the coldest temperature for your area in winter
Have you all did a study with VW TDi engines? Many TDi owners run the T6 - 5W40, and would appreciate the study.
There's guy running the t6 in a tdi the head gasket went @ 600k miles he had his head rebuilt and new head gasket he's over 800k still had factory cross hatch at that milage
Wished they included mileages each oil change.
i know you probably get asked alot but can i put the 5w40 in my BMW e90 3 series gas engine
How did the triple t do?
It would be very helpful if you went over at least the oil change interval for each motor, as well as how many heat cycles you put the engine through. Otherwise, this really doesnt tell me much. Love the look of those beefy rods though!
Whats the different between rotela and rimula ?
Different countries....Hard tô say but i think rimula rx4 is the rottela they talk so much...api ci4/sl
Can somebody tell me if I should use the T6 5w30 or 5w40 for my 2015 Q50 Infiniti 4dr Sedan Premium AWD 3.7L V6 with 20k miles? 5w30 motor oil is what's recommended in the vehicle and it does have a catalytic converter but from what I continue to read is that the T6 5w40 still has the more beneficial formulation vs the T6 5w30. I mean should I try the T6 5w40 or just do the multi vehicle T6 5w30? I live in Ohio.
lordabhi don’t listen to this. If your car is stock run the 5w30. Or, try both and see how your car reacts to both, don’t mix

Just use Mobil one lol wtf
that is a big rod.
that what she said.....
I was going to say I could turn my boost up to 70 PSI and drive around spark knocking with that bitch in my car.
He kinda forgot about the other two 😑
I have a 2.4 toyota engine with high mileage and high oil consumption. Can anyone recommend a rotella oil that will work for my car.
15w40

Can i use this in my motorcycle engine safely?
I heard everyone runs 15w-40 in their race bikes with no issues
JASO certified for bike/wet clutches.
It's made by Pennzoil
Not a good video - do a test and show results after 2mil miles without a rebuild. Otherwise, we are wasting time watching this.
U. Didn’t. Show. The. First. Or. 3
looks awful
