    Hi Eben. I enjoy your vids and find them informative. I also believe you are a straight shooter which is why I am writing to you to ask a question. For the record, I’m new to Amsoil and have the signature series in all my vehicles for engine, differential, transmissions and transfer cases.
    I recently built a bench bypass system to filter my engine oil every month for all my vehicles. They all use the same 0w-20. With a Fumoto valve on each its quick work to filter my oil with the 2 micron filter. One thin that surprised me was the oil didn’t change color as a couple Amsoil bypass filter videos claim. Here are my thoughts. Can you weigh in? I trust you.
    here’s some additional data / comments I am trying to work through. I listen and read Amsoil comments that say 80% of an engines wear is caused during cold starts which would occur when a vehicle sits unused overnight. I then hear the same people say most engine wear occurs with particulate size between 5 and 20 microns which is why the bypass filter would be effective.
    It can’t be both the way it is stated. It can’t be both 80% and then >50% [most]. There’s no doubt wear occurs during both but one way to create suspicion in my mind is to miss speak or mislead. Another claim that isn’t proving true for me anyways is the couple of bypass videos they have that shows how dark oil is magically cleaned / brightened upon going through a bench operated bypass filter. For me, the color didn’t change at all.
    I believe Amsoil is the best out there BUT to try and market the product with statements that contradict each other and results that can’t be replicated like I tried with bench filtering disappoints me to say the least.
    Thanks! Michael

      I run a similar oil that's 100% synthetic It's called the amsoil Z rod with high zinc and phosphorus It has a much higher film strength and you'll notice a big difference in smooth operation and much more protection definitely something you might want to try in the future.

      Unless you experience temps @ -50 the test is useless. I’m not a customer of Delo oils but they were the first HDEO 15W40 to take a class 8 Diesel engine to 1 million miles without any internal engine repairs. If a class 8 diesel dragging 80K lbs every day of its life can run 1 million miles you can rest easy that it’ll take care of these baby diesels in pickup trucks.

      Yeah it's very interesting the levels of lubricants that are available like mineral oil synthetic blend which is 1 to 15% synthetic usually full synthetic can be labeled full synthetic when it's 25% synthetic or more and then you got 100% synthetic which is like Amsoil which is totally Next Level product and this is a really cool performance test showing the results with that product I mentioned.

      www.amsoil.com/p/signature-series-max-duty-synthetic-diesel-oil-15w-40-dme/?zo=5331179
      The benefits of that motor oil is it's 100% synthetic so your Pistons cams and Rings will last longer you'll have better engine braking also you'll be good for two to three times the OEM interval so you'll save a lot of money on oil changes you'll also see a small bump and fuel mileage.
      I would also do an engine flush you'll see that under cleaners and protectants..
      I would also do the fuel additive it's called diesel injector Clean Plus cetane boost and this will give you the very best price on the products with this link if you have any questions let me know always happy to talk with you.

    Interesting to see what the oils do at such an extremely cold temperature, but as an Owner-Operator long haul trucker, there’s no way I’d ever subject my engine to a cold start at those sub-arctic temperatures. I have a pan heater and a block heater, and I plug them in when my truck is parked during the winter. BTW, I live in Northern Utah, so I’m familiar with winter temperatures.
    I’ve used Chevron Delo 400 15w40 in Diesel engines since 1986. I’ve never had one single oil related failure in all of those years. The Detroit Series 60 that’s in my semi-truck is closing in on 600,000 miles. I use Chevron Delo 400 XLE 15W40 semi-synthetic in the winter months, it has a lower cold pour point, and Delo 400 SDE 15W40 conventional in the warmer months. My mechanic shows me the inside of my valve cover whenever I have an overhead adjustment done, and it’s always incredibly clean.
    Shell Rotella seems to be what most Owner-Operators use in their semi-trucks. It’s a very, very good oil.
    As is Mobil Delvac 1300, and Phillips 66 Guardol ECT, and Chevron Delo 400. I’ve used all of these brands with excellent results.
    I’d like to see you do a cold flow comparison between these semi-synthetic 15W40’s:
    Rotella T5
    Chevron Delo 400 XLE
    Mobil Delvac Extreme
    And BTW, buy your Rotella and Delo from your local Walmart. The prices that truck stops charge for a gallon of oil are outrageous.

    • @Syntheticoilprotection
      @Syntheticoilprotection  3 года назад

      I agree what do you do when you're on the road and you can't stop at a Walmart with a full load?
      Is it worth driving out of the way 3 mi and then parking the truck with a full trailer to get the oil At Walmart?
      I'm curious because I was never a trucker and I have no idea what it would be like when you're in that situation.

      All over LOL however the point is to show that up to 80% of the wear on a motor can occur during the cold start the film strength between the metal that is Left Behind overnight is what's most important💯

    I am really surprised at these results. I have used Delo 400 for years in all my Diesel engines . My friends are split down the middle with some using t4, but a lot more are using t4. One told me that Delo was junk oil and that it would varnish and gel in your oil pan after years of use . I wonder? Delo is more expensive than t4 now after the opposite being true for years.

      Of course yes all the oils will eventually break down it depends on how long you run them and what type of fuel additives you use there's a lot of components to come in to keeping your motor lasting longer without having any build-up.
      I recommend doing a Amsoil engine flush and also the diesel injector Clean Plus etain boost the green bottle will see a huge difference in performance compression engine braking and I recommend the Amsoil Max Duty diesel Signature Series motor oil to 100% synthetic you have much more protection on your pistons and from wearing out your motor this is my personal link if you ever want to try the products and if you ever had any questions I'll always be here for you.

      It's a great oil however it's not comparable to 100% synthetic like Amsoil it's a much higher film strength keeps the metal parts separated pistons and cams will last longer You'll also see a bump in fuel mileage with less oil consumption because the film keeps the ring sealed.

    Delo is some good stuff and it’s what I use in both my 7.3 IDI and my 7.8 Ford-New Holland. I used to use shell rotella but recently it seems like they have made some production changes in the base oil formula and has started causing issues. I don’t know the exact specifics of the changes, but allegedly they changed the base oil to be more “green” in their production methods, and owners on several diesel pages that I’m a part of have noted excessive oil burning in their rigs using the new production rotella T4. Given that T4 was a staple oil for nearly everyone on those pages, they claimed the difference in how much their engine burned off with the new stuff based on their prior use was significant. I marked it up to just happenstance until I noticed my 7.3 IDI was starting to burn it a lot more than normal as well. Usually I’m adding a quart every 800-1000 miles, and with the new T4 I was adding a quart every 200 or so miles. IDI’s normally burn oil more than most engines due to excessive ring gaps set at the factory, but a quart every 200-300 miles is absolutely out of the norm. I switched to delo and immediately the engine stopped burning oil as much. I’ll actually say it’s bumped up a little over the normal as I’m adding a quart every 1400-1500 miles now. Now, I understand this is really not a scientific way of measuring the differences, but it’s a large enough difference across enough users that I believe there’s some validity to the changes they made to T4 causing problems.

    what is the purpose of this ? -50°C is wayyyy off the temperature a 15W oil is designed for...would even be hard for most 0W .. at -50° engines do not start anymore without special measures like preheating

    • @Syntheticoilprotection
      @Syntheticoilprotection  3 года назад

      With amsoil products you could easily start a vehicle at that temperature.
      The point of the videos is to show the differences of the motor oils at different temperatures so you can see how they flow differently.
      Up to 80% of the wear on a motor is during the cold start and it also it's very important to have a high flow oil filter that filters well as well to keep it from clogging and circulating under extreme conditions.
      some of the differences are the bypass filter on AMS oil is upgraded the anti-drain back valve and the medium that filters the oil is also a much higher quality.
      as you'll see as the playlist progresses you'll see we show the amsoil go up against the best OEMs and you'll see how big of a difference they are For instance this video here is the 0W-40 versus Pennzoil you'll see the difference there.

      A lot of truck drivers travel different parts of the country throughout the year so sometimes they can get an unexpected route in a very cold area and it can comfortably get below negative 30 just depending on the time of year.
      Furthermore some trucks do not have block heaters so this could show a difference on how they could run something in their vehicle that would make a huge difference in the wear on their motor and it would allow their truck to last longer.
      So this video helps people save money by learning about different products that can help them with the longevity of their vehicle.

    My friend next test: CAT 15W40 VS ROTELLA 15W40

  • @marckemp9955
    @marckemp9955 7 месяцев назад

    One thing I noticed about the delo 400 15w40 dual rated was it comes out of the bottle looking like chocolate. It's darker out of the bottle compared to the Rotella. That could be because of the Moly content. Rotella's last formula doesn't have moly. Or it could mean nothing at all. One thing I'd like to point out these aren't the standard test methods on YT videos that Society of Engineers uses. Cold flow has been proven to be almost irrelevant by engineers for most people in the world because it's not relevant how it flows out of a bottle in extreme cold temperatures. What's relevant is how it sticks to the cylinder walls during extreme cold and how much energy it requires to pump oil specific oil volume at specific temperature. And here's the thing, just because an oil has a better cold flow out of a bottle in extreme cold doesn't correlate to pumpability (volume and pressure) or even how it lubricates. But I will say the engine i poured it into on a cool day i did notice it was slower out of the bottle than Rotella is but again I knew that doesn't correlate well in the field. Plus that's a virgin sample. Once it's been ran in an engine it's different with each heat and cool cycle and once again what did best as a virgin sample doesn't correlate well to the field. By the CURRENT chemical formula and physical properties I'd pick Delo 400 for modern equipment and I don't know for antique equipment because I've never tried it. I might try it but I'll be asking others first.

    The test means nothing to me as my oil will never get 50 below. The is only showing cold start up and which oil has more wax molecules in it that under extreme cold condense into crystals,
    I want to see some heat break down test which oil keeps viscosity at extreme temperatures and which one protects from thermal breakdown at high temp. It’s pretty safe to say “that if it’s -50 I’m not cranking anything, I will be inside nice and warm lol” and even so that’s why you don’t cut it off, run baby run.

      Yeah it would have been cool to do a high temperature test on it that way we could have found out the CST at operating temperature but yes something doesn't look right but that's what came out of the bottle.
      There must be a high amount of cold flow additives in that oil for it to flow that way however after it oxidizes it may thicken quite a bit and maybe in the long run the other lubricants are a lot better but still unless you do the oil analysis you wouldn't have the CST which is the thickness that operating temperature to 12 degrees or 100 degrees Celsius
