This song was commissioned by Metallica for the Black list album. You're hearing backing vocals from Alessia Cara also featured on the colab. See the official music video including her.
Metallica invited Alessia Cara to participate in the Blacklist 30th Anniversary album during COVID. The international management agency that represents both Alessia and The Warning asked Metallica if the two groups could be brought together for this project. The two groups wrote (Alessia in Canada, The Warning in Mexico), recorded, and produced an entirely new version of Sandman in only ten days that ended up being the lead track on Metallica’s anniversary album. You can hear Alessia's voice in this performance as a fourth voice on track.
You got the names right. You don't need to worry if you get the pronunciations wrong, people need to chill. You already got the story about this shakeup of the original being just what Metallica was looking for. It's a masterful adaptation delivered within one week. I love it. Thanks.
Lars wanted them the bands recording for the 30th anniversary Black Album to do 'something different' and boy did they. They literally turned the song upside down and backwards. They start with "Take my hand", the original ends with that. The original starts with that iconic riff, here they end with it. Each verse builds in intensity and the lullaby breakdown is haunting... and the harmonies! They did all this about a week and it's just pure genius.
I've always thought this version sounds like the main track for a 007 movie. In ten days they delivered this atmospheric version of Enter Sandman. Ingenious.
They have it all together. For me it is impossible not to love their music. XXI century blood is an amazing song from them when they were just wee tots. Thankyou bud, good work.
No worries on names...Pau is actually pronounced "POW". Like the sound she makes when she hits the drums haha.
Notice Dany's guitar - a Gibson Explorer that Lzzy Hale (Halestorm) interrupted their set to kneel and give to her!

It's the harmonies that make this so awesome leaving the iconic riff til the end is genius. Thanks for doing this version it's my favorite. 🔥⚡
It's The Warning. I think that did a great job revising this song. I think that they only had 11 days. That's insane 🤘
10 days to reimagine a iconic song, with a collaborator who they have never met, they say pressure makes diamonds, The Warning never fail to deliver!
Many say it was 2014 version that grew TWA the most, but if you ask it was Ted X 2017 that hooked many.
Pau=Pow like the way she hits those drums POW!
What a masterpiece They come up with. It's easy to see why The Warning is my Favorite Band Of All Time...World Class... ⚡⚡⚡
We would all love to hear Ale sing 😂

Pow! For Pau.
Their first cover true to the original was 2014 not 2016.
This is The Warning, man! 😍

I'm a fanatic fan of Metallica (the most of their first hour), but this song is far more better than the original, and i say that with certainty!
I was pleasantly surprised to hear this song watching the Netflix series "The Imperfects". It closes out episode 8.
