@@moeponce484 Every time I bring up that it was placed first on the album I get lambasted by people telling me that was because it was done in alphabetical order and Alessia Cara put them in the top spot.
I'm a Metallica fan since 86 but this version or rendition is GOLD! and yes they have permission from metallica, in fact this from the Blacklist Album from the anniversary of the Black album
Metallica Puyt this song as Number one on the Blacklist Album. The Fan Base is a wide variety of ages. I am 74... I have followed these girls for over 3 years. They are the best. The Guitar she was playing was given to her by LZZY Halestorm on stage. It was a touching experience for both of them. Dany was getting a little irritated as she was suppose to change Guitar and the roadie wasn't bringing her guitar out then LZZY showed up with this one and gave it to her. Dany thought it was just for the next song and she tried giving the guitar back and Lzzy said no it is yours I had it made special for you. She was paying it forward.
Wow! There is so much to unpack here! First off, a Fun Fact: They did a straight-up cover of the song back in 2014 that went viral on RUclips. It got praise from Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett in the form of a tweet that said, "The drummer kicks maximum ass!" This version was done not only with the permission of Metallica, but with the support of Metallica. To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the release of their eponymous album, popularly known as "The Black Album", Metallica invited 53 artists to perform covers of songs off that album for a compilation to be called _The Blacklist Album._ Proceeds from the sales go to charities. One of the artists invited to participate was Grammy-winning Canadian pop singer Alessia Cara. She was perhaps uncertain as to how to cover a rock song, but by a stroke of luck, her International Management team was the same as The Warning's, and they encouraged her to collaborate with them. Metallica encouraged all the artists to re-imagine the songs they would cover, even turning them inside out, with the stipulation that they remain true to the lyrics. The Warning had less than a week to put this amazing arrangement together and bring it to fruition. Long story short, this is the result of that collaboration (as well as Track 1 on the album)!
And the guitar was a gift to Dany from Lzzy Hale when The Warning toured with Halestorm last summer.

Lzzy Hale (Halestorm) interrupted their set to come out onstage, kneel, and present that Explorer to Dany. Also, The Warning did a straight cover already, with the solo - when they were 14, 12, and 9 years old. No need to prove they can do it again. Try 'Animosity' and 'Disciple' from this same show, at Teatro Metropolitan.
That was after a broken string for Lzzy, it happen back in 2006. She broke a string and Jason Todd 'gave' her a a Gibson Explorer, he asked her post set to pass it forwards to a young inspiring guitarist in the future. Lzzy chose Dany from The Warning to be the one to pass it on to, so did the same thing mid set when Dany broke a string. The Warning are tiny but fierce, watch out for them in the future.....!
@@alistairwhite2906 Not quite correct. Dany didn't break a string. The guitar change was normal for this song, but Lzzy got the guitar in advance for Dany and conspired with Dany's guitar tech to switch to the new guitar instead of what the tech would normally bring out to her. Even having her tech string it to her normal specs and getting the correct strap lock installed. It was a well planned gift and neither Dany nor her sisters had any idea what was happening.
This is artistry! Huge risk. The studio version was broken down and done in a week with a task to make it comfortable for Alessia Cara’s vocals. The Warning’s live version hits harder but both versions are awesome.

*Backstory:*
Metallica did a charity album (4 CD's or 3 vinyl LP's) with 53 artists doing a song from the Black album. The project was called the Blacklist Album. Metallica told these artists do what you want with song but the can't change the lyrics. Metallica asked Alessia Cara (pop singer from Canada) to be on the album. Not The Warning. A guy who works for Alessia Cara also does International work for The Warning. Suggested Alessia Cara & The Warning should collaborate on *"Enter Sandman"* since that was the song Alessia Cara chose. Metallica said fine.
The Warning already did a straight up cover of *Enter Sandman* back in 2014. They had 7 days to rewrite, produced, performed (over Zoom since Alessia was in Canada & The Warning was in Mexico with travel restrictions due to the pandemic. (Side note: Alessia Cara & The Warning performed Enter Sandman twice, soundcheck & live on stage) at the Troubadour in LA April 2022) The Warning has stated their starts where Metallica left off at the lullaby. Then The Warning brings it back to where Metallica starts. If The Warning had the freedom to do a proper lullaby for Enter Sandman. It would be scary. As part of their music video for *"Enter Sandman with Alessia Cara"* suggests.

The live version is different (a third version from The Warning) from the music video. Alessia Cara on the live version is on a backing track just doing "woohoos". Alessia doesn't sing any actual lyrics unless she's on stage with The Warning (as the version at the Troubadour that one day).
That's the backstory. You must check out the music video to really understand The Warning's live version.
Metallica asked them to do the cover and to completely change the song, so they did

Tremendous performance! I saw you comment about Dany's Gibson Explorer. Cool story - it was a gift to her from Lzzy Hale. The Warning toured with Lzzy, a few months ago. Lzzy said in interviews that she finally found someone who inspired her, again - Dany.

Yes the band had permission to do this cover. They were part of an official album, in which Metallica asked for people to rework songs from the Black album. The Warning had one week to rearrange, record and mix this song, so that it could be put on what Metallica were calling the Blacklist Album. Of all the bands asked to contribute, this was by far the best effort. 🤘🏻🤘🏻

@@WaynesWorldMN, I agree that it's an honor to be the first song on that album but since *Enter Sandman* is the first song on the original album and all versions of the same songs were placed in alphabetical order they would have been first even if Metallica never heard this song thanks to the spelling of Alessia Cara. Without here name in the title they would have been one of the last. 😉

Paulina(Pau)21drums/vocals.Alejandra,(Ale)bass/vocals18.I saw them last July2022 when they were touring with Hailstorm, The Pretty Reckless and Lilith Czar. That Explorer was a gift from Lazy Hale.Who presented it to her on stage and was a complete surprise to Dany. She thought that Lazy was just letting her play for that show and was giving it back to her and thanking her and Lazy said " No, That's yours" Check out the other songs from this show that they recently uploaded. After hearing this revision of Enter Sandman for the, I lost count, time I still ask the question.... When is Metallica going to open for The Warning.
The WARNING has a song called REVENANT.. PAU the drummer sings the whole song Dany & Ale sing harmonies.. This song is so different, it leaves most of people be speechless. Nothing like it anywhere.. PAU'S Voice is....." WOW " TWA🎶🤟☮️

My recommendation at this point: Do "Disciple" from the same concert, also recorded as a pro-shot with HD-audio. They are so comfortable on stage meanwhile, despite being still very young. But 10 years of performing as a band and spending much effort into it, pays off now.

I wonder why fans like to continue to say “their quite young”. Of course they are but I don’t recall ever hearing that said about many famous male bands. At some point it gets old, isn’t it good enough to say they are good and continue to get better.

@@holydado At current ages of 23, 21, and 18.....how they were raised(Catholic girls school and home schooled, and living at home), their view of the real life world is limited. They have been writing controversial lyrics since they were 15, 13, and 10. They ARE young, but wise beyond their years. Beatles wrote I Want To Hold Your Hand when they were in their mid 20s. The Warning wrote Copper Bullets(abuse) when they were teenagers and Pau was 13 when she wrote Black Holes, about addiction. They are quite amazing. They see the problems facing the XXl Century, and Error continues to warn all of us about getting lost in tech knowledge, allowing others to shape what we think but not learning HOW to think. Yeah, they are amazing and yes, THEY ARE YOUNG. It's impressive.
@@holydado I take no offense to your comment -- although I'm sure some might think of me as irascible at times. It's not my intent to pigeonhole them as children or novices. Rather, I tend to view them broadly as being at the beginning of a long and fruitful career, and I'm thrilled at the prospect of seeing them grow and mature significantly from where they are presently. I presume these reactors are not well versed on DPA's precocious beginnings as "quite young" artists -- not like you or I might be. Now that they have reached adulthood, their youth is not quite so obvious to the casual observer. I hope that addresses your concern sufficiently.

The Warning did this cover with Alessia Cara for the Metallica Blacklist album. I think they even piped in Alessia's vocals in this version. At first I thought it was Pau but her mouth didn't match the sound. Anyway this was a quote from Lars in regards to the artists that were going to do a cover for the album: “We said, ‘Pick a song. Do what you want with it. If you want to play it backwards or turn it on its head, we respect and appreciate it.’ ” -Lars Ulrich. This is exactly what the ladies did and it sounds great.
Metallica saw their cover of this song that they did in 2014 when they were literally children. Kirk Hammett actually said about Paulina: "The drummer kicks maximum ass!"
So, in 2020 - 2021, when Metallica wanted to put together an album celebrating the 30th anniversary of the "Black Album" (named the "Blacklist" album), remembering The Warning's 2014 cover, they INVITED them to do another cover from the Black Album and make it their own with the exception of NOT changing lyrics. Ultimately of course, with those specific instructions by Metallica in mind, the girls chose to do Enter Sandman again, teaming up with grammy-winning Canadian Pop singer, Alessia Cara. After all, their 2014 cover is what got them known and basically jumpstarted their career just prior to them beginning to write their own music.
You can find the official music video for this version of the song with Alessia on RUclips as well. I also recommend searching for the girls' 2014 cover on which Kirk Hammett first saw and commented. Obviously, the girls' apparent talent even as children made quite a memorable impression on Metallica.

I found this band on RUclips several years ago, the young talented ladies have me watching, listening and loving music again after years away from it. I'm so glad/happy to be a member of The Warning army of fans.
I have seen The Warning live and all I can tell you is that they are amazing. Forget all the talk Metallica this Metallica that. Their big influence is MUSE. And for them to be asked by MUSE themselves to open for TWOTP tour is amazing. So, The Warning and Muse on the same night, amazing.
This was the Version they did for the Metallica Blacklist Album in 2021 when Metallica asked them to be part of the Album they Teamed up with Alessia Cara if you see the Official video you would see that and Metallica told they could do whatever they wanted to do with the song

The Warning Had 100% permission to Cover that song, In-fact Metallica approached the warning to do their best to re-imagine that specific song for the 30th Anniversary of the Black album. The warning did a cover of Enter Sandman when they where very young i think 14, 12 and 9 years old! It has 24 Million views and was recognized by Metallica as a Kick ass Job.

I think it's great that you had no context or clue about this song's importance to the band and their history. A true reaction to their re-imagined and some say better arrangement of a worn out classic. The Explorer is sort of a coincidence. It was gifted by Lzzy Hale and Dany started using it live to play their song, "Queen of the Murder Scene." This is the first time she used it for this song.
I think you are the only person to ever say that lol. We always do no research before songs because we like the surprise of music but most people tell us to do research before we listen to songs.
I am going to have to agree with you. I think that a reactor's job is to react to the song first and foremost and they shouldn't have to know everything about the song and the band beforehand. That's what the comments section is for.

I didn't notice either of you being a jerk. Must be the person off camera. And yes, this is better than the original. I think any non-metallica fan would agree. Nice Reaction! Their fans all know who Metallica is. I watched a live video of them a couple of days ago when they were in Mexico (Saltillo 2022) doing this song and the crowd was singing with Dany on the first part of the song when she was singing softer. Also, Metallica just released a new album.
For the 30th anniversary of their album, Metallica gave the directive "pick a song. Play it backwards or turn it on its head." And these amazing performers said "bet." The studio version was with Alessia Cara and they put it together in one week!

Metallica not only didn't sue them, they actually invited them to create their own original take on the song. And this is the result. And then it was included in Metallica's Blacklist album (which is all covers by other people, done differently than Metallica's versions)

Look up Paulina's (the drummer) cover of Radiohead's Creep. She did that as a challenge. Fans selected a song for her to cover and she did it cold. Pau can sing, she just can't hit D5 like Dany can.
That video must absolutely be watched to the very end. It's important.
