The fact that three students made this is very impressive. Imagine creating 52 different soundtracks? In 1991 that was an amazing accomplishment. I actually like the music for Alfred N The Fettuc.

There actually is a reason the boss in Star Evil sometimes doesn't spawn. There is a limit to how many sprites the game can handle on the screen. If the screen is filled with the bullets from your ship when you reach the boss arena it cannot spawn in.

The idea being they’d pay $199 and earn the money back on rentals ... but nobody knew who he or Active was and it didn’t take long for word of mouth to kill the game for being garbo. After Active went bankrupt the warehouses that stored the majority of the carts that were made sold them off on the cheap to cover the unpaid rental fees for the storage. Local game shops and flea markets across central Florida were flooded with these carts that sold for the average game prices, around $30 to $40 bucks. Almost nobody who had one of these games back in the 90’s paid $199 for them.

I heard that Action 52 was made under inhumane conditions and time constraints, and granted, developing with Assembly language from scratch on an 8 bit system must have been a very different experience, but man, have we come far since then, where today we can write in Python a minigame FAR superior than anything from A52 in a matter of maybe one hour.
It's possible we'll see what happens with it. I'm sure it will become a huge deal if streaming in general becomes not possible down the road. If the new copyright stuff happening ever became problematic enough I could just stop streaming all together and just play games in my own spare time. It would definitely stink not being able to hang out with the chat because I love that part of it. But I don't actually need to stream or anything. Its just a fun thing to do. I'm good either way but I'd miss the chat.

When you were referring to that main character from the game Fuzz Power at 1:36:44, were you thinking of the Slag Brothers from Wacky Races as a Hanna Barbera character or characters in that case? They have almost the exact same design as Captain Caveman except you don't see their eyes, and the Slag Brothers came out a decade before Captain Caveman.

Back in the day, I had "50 Great Games Plus Silent Service II" for MS DOS. That is one less game than what console gamers had. But mine where actually good, so I am not disappointed about the missing game.
You should Soltice for the NES. Or Magician. Two very different games, Soltice has great music by Tim Follin but is pretty difficult. Magician I’ve never gotten anywhere with. Random games I got at a yard sale as a kid and was frustratingly mesmerized by.
I tried Magician on my NES a-z stream. I don't think I liked it at all. However I can see myself possibly jumping more into Solstice someday. I've played a little of it here and there and it's pretty interesting. The isometric viewpoint doesn't bother me. Light Crusader on Sega Genesis is another cool one with an isometric view.
