Bought my wife a Canon R6 MII for Christmas and dug out my old D90 that has been on the shelf for several years. Started playing with it and decided the D90 still meets my needs, your video and others confirms my decision.

I inherited a D90 from my Dad, who passed away a couple of years ago. It was in a box with a whole bunch of accessories, including a Nikon 10-24mm zoom lens and a Tamron 28-300 zoom lens. I was planning to sell it, as I couldn't see much reason to keep such an old camera around, so I bought a new battery (both of the originals were dead) so I could test it out before listing it on eBay.
Just this afternoon I finally got around to cleaning it up, charging the battery and testing everything out. I was pretty impressed with the test images and handling, so I came inside to do some research on the camera and came across this video. Thanks so much! You've motivated me to hold on to this camera and make some use of it.

Comprei a D90 a 6 meses com a lente 18-105mm e venho me surpreendendo com a qualidade dos arquivos gerados levando em consideração esses mais de 15 anos de sua fabricação!

I purchased a D90 for a steal earlier this year because of your videos, and before that, I’ve only shot with point and shoot cameras on auto mode. Now I’m shooting in manual and enjoying it so much! I love my D90 so much! I may upgrade at some point to a mirrorless with great AF, but will definitely keep my D90 as I can’t imagine parting with it! Please keep making more D90 videos!

I have been looking for this camera for almost two years. I am getting one with an 18-105 mm vr for $125. I will then complete my collection, which consists of the D40, D50, D60,, D70, D80, D100, D200, D300s D700. I love then renditions of all those cameras.

I bought mi right after they were introduced because I needed a DSLR in a hurry for a Relay for Life fundraiser I was photographing. It was going to be a stopgap until I could afford an FX Nikon and I already had lenses that would work on it. Years later, I am still using that camera because with the addition of one dedicated wide angle zoom, it does everything I have needed a digital camera for.

The D90 is still (in 2024) one of the best ever DSLR's created by any brand, let alone Nikon. The images, the colours, the overall look of the pics etc are nothing short of sublime. Just keep it below ISO 400!

My favorite camera of all time. I’m very emotional about it as well. My dad gave it to me couple of years before he passed away. It was his dream camera as well. It has a special place in my heart and I carry it around almost all the time. I use it with retro manual lenses, although I’ve just got used Sigma 50mm 1.4 dg art. Can’t wait to test it 😊❤ Thank you so much for this video 🤗❤️

I bought a used D90 13 years ago. I do this just for fun because im a Technique-Freak. What i found was a total budget friendly Camera that suprised me every time. It brought me joy and raised my interests in Photography.
It was always more that enough for my usage’s.
Unluckily 1 month ago „err-shutterstuck“ cought me. Doesn’t mater if i‘ll go to repair it or not… it will always stand on the top of my Shelf of Equipment.❤

You know that D90 was the most rented camera in Japan 2 years ago? I had D90 for a lot of years, I sold D80 to buy a D90 with 18-105 before a trip to Senegal a lot of years ago and the results were fantastic, I switched to mirrorless with the Panasonic GX80 not for the photography side but for video capability (before I had a Olympus EPL1 what an horrible experience), The body gave as a gift to a friend of mine with the 18-105 but I still use the 50mm 1.8 with Panasonic adapter (and the Sigma 105mm f2.8)

I actually got the D90 from my dad. He's the one who inspired me to take up photography as a hobby and I've really enjoyed it over the past few years. Everything he said about it in the video is true but I have 2 problems with the camera - firstly, the autofocus is really bad and secondly, the video mode is extremely restricting.

Great stuff Grant. I have a soft spot for DSLRs as I really enjoy the larger size and handling, and the image quality is still amazing to this day. I am especially a big fan of Nikon owning a number of Nikon (NIGH KON) cameras over the years, and even though I took a break and switched to mirrorless for a bit, I had always come back to the DSLR camera. I recently purchased a D90 but need to source a charger at some point, so I am hoping to be able to test this bad boy soon.

I picked up a secondhand D90 as my first ever camera with a NIKKOR 18-105mm lens for just $90. It had been sitting on a shelf for years and has quite a few burnt pixels in the sensor, so it's really not ideal for low light. With that said, i DEFINITELY dont regret my purchase! I totally agree. There's something so nostalgic about the images I've been able to capture as I'm learning my way through its specs. Almost like the essence of a film camera. I am hoping to upgrade soon in order to start doing photography for hire, but this little guy will forever be worth its weight in gold to me!

How does it perform in lowlight? How are the iso ranges? Does the image show on the screen as it does in mirorless cameras? And when you shoot, do you suggest shooting bright and later editing it down or shooting dark and editing the brightness up?? Amazing video man

I always underexpose:) It’s ok in lowlight with a fast lens, I would not push the iso too much… It’s an OVF so you don’t get constant preview like you get on a mirrorless

Thanks for this video mate, I recently bought a D90 as a beginner photographer (at 58 years old but hey......) and I'm loving it. It came with the 18-55mm and 55-200mm zoom lenses for $250. I also recently picked up a secondhand 35mm lens but it was attached to a d200 and had a polarising filter with it for $100. I'm getting used to the D200 but I certainly prefer the D90 for user friendliness and the quality of my photos is better with it but that's possibly because I've used it more. Either way I've got a bunch of good quality gear that'll certainly be better than I am for some time to come I expect and I'm very happy with it all. Cheers mate.

I've got the same wonderful "vintage" 80-200 f2.8 ED zoom lens, sliding version, not yet rotating available when I bought it. I'm using it often with my dear D90 and with my d7500 too, just shooting at minimum 1/200 or higher to prevent shaking blur, since the lens hasn't got VR and is large and heavy, and I'm very happy with it... and, of course, with my D90, that I'll keep with me forever. And not on a shelf, but with me, delivering amazing photos !!

5:20 A few years ago I discovered Sigma 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 DC OS HSM II (Macro) lens - it's so versatile „allrounder” and it does cooperate with my Nikon D90 so perfectly, that since more than 3 years I seldom take it off my D90 (if ever), because I'm using it almost exclusively for daylight photography (for difficult lighting conditions I prefer to use FF camera).
I can recommend that Sigma for D90 - it's not that expensive and it gives very good picture across its focal range.

Not a D90, but I'm still using my old D40 that I got new over 15 years ago. I use it mostly with old manual AI-s lenses and while It's only 6 MPix, the image quality still holds up quite well, especially in regards to color reproduction.

Yes it is, I brought mines like damn near 14years ago and made a fortune off this camera, no issues other than getting confused in night clubs from the mixed lighting conditions, but other than that straight beast! I wish it had atleast 1080p for video cause I would still use it today in 2024.

I picked up an EX D90 for a trip based on your earlier video. In addition to the 35 f1.8 the 18-70 3.5-4.5 is a nice complement. Despite a 12mp sensor theDXO curves show excellent dynamic color and tonal range that is better than some modern sensors. Would love to see your recommendations on picture control and noise reduction settings

Great camera. I remember buying one new the week it came out. I still have it too. I dropped the photography hobby for over 10 years, so the shutter count remained very low. I even had the original SD card for awhile. A whopping 4GB I remember dropping a couple hundred or so $ USD. Occasionally I'll take it out now. It still has great images and I'd argue that 12-16 megapixel is the sweet spot for resolution.

Nice to see the old D90 still holds up even to this day. I think i commented on your previous D90 vid as well not sure but anyways i will likely be looking for a D90 to add to my collection this year. The D90 is a consumer version of the venerable D300, with some new features thrown in, and the Wolrd’s First to feature Video, according to Nikon Press release. Grant failed to mention it in this video. I would argue that this was Nikon’s Golden Era, with this D90, the D300/D3/D700 series of cameras. Sure they have made other newer and notable cameras, but there was just something special about this time. Peace

The D90 truly is a special camera. I have compared the D90 output...face value picture Look to other Nikons like the D300’s, D7000, D500, D3000 series of Nikons with higher resolution, and even the Nikon D3, and D700. I believe the D90 shares the same Sony sensor with all mentioned except for the D3 and D700 that each have Nikons own sensors....that’s part of why those two are in a league of their own. But, the Nikon D90 holds up against them all to some degree.

I would personally recommend the 35mm 1.8 dx lens. It works great with the D90, and you can get them used for around $80-100 or so. It's a very small and lightweight lens too, so perfect if you wanna go tramping through the woods (or maybe around the city in your case) without carrying a lot of gear with you - just the D90 and one small lens. And of course with the whole package being so cheap, it's not a huge loss if the camera and/or lens gets damaged or stolen.

Просто по приколу купил себе данную камеру. Короче, это "Dark side of the moon" на виниле...
