I'm the biggest fan of the beach boys but this song has more heart and soul in it than anything the Beach Boys did from 1974 onwards. I love Keith Moon. Probably one of the greatest guys in Rock and roll
@@brennanstultz love you was more of a Brian initiated record and apart from LA Light Album, there weren’t many great moments from the Beach Boys. MIU, KTSA Still Crusin, SIP all sucked, Beach Boys 85 wasn’t all that great
He's paying homage to both a Band and Song he loved; He achieved a stature that allows him to do that. That being said, I think he did pretty well putting his signature on a classic song.
You know, say what you want about Keith's vocals, but the production on this is pretty damned good, and Flo and Eddie's backing vocals have a certain personality to them.
This version is beautiful in its own fractured way (which is a perfect reflection of the beautifully fractured man behind it). It sounds like some wildly off kilter ELO outtake, and you can just feel Moon's unbridled love of Brian Wilson's music in every rollicking moment.

There is a goofy video on youtube of the band recording the vocals for Bucket T, with John Enwistle playing the French Horn. I bought Two Sides on vinyl in the 8th grade when it was new. At first, I was somewhat disappointed, but liked it still as what seemed like a novel extravagance and an extravagant novelty. Certainly not a cheap affair. I enjoyed this cover and other parts of the album right away, but really grew to appreciate the entire record greatly as time passed. A gem despite not being widely regarded as a fulfilling project. We in the inner sleeve notes: "Moon. A Lune". Much loved gem.

Rest In Piece Kieth Moon. You're fucking amazing. This isn't the best singing, for sure but just hearing Keith's voice is so calming for me. I would've loved to have meet him while he was alive. Actually, he probably would've been pissed or fucked up on some drug. Ah well
This song, a cover of Brian Wilson's comp, is evocative of Be My Baby, the song upon which Brian said he based his song, but could never hope to emulate. Source: wiki. It surely has the Phil Spector "bump-dee-bump--disssh" miked reverbed drums pulse to it, eh? Interesting. Thanks for posting.

He would have made a wonderful singer if he hadn't spent his whole life behind a drum kit. In real life you can't have it all. What counts is that it is heart snd soul, you can feel it.
I thought this was great. Women always sing these songs about how their man looks after them, makes love to them and tells them everything will be alright, and so Moon flips this around.
