It won't survive. 100%.
The question for me is will mayor and police chief survive? Will SF residences want change?
@@malin7919 No they will only vote one party. Seen it all as a former resident. The rest of the US doesn't even know half of the radical fees, fines and taxes the city does and those they tried like putting a toll heading back to the peninsula until someone said they will put a toll for them to get out of the city.
No chance
wait how are you going to fight to save a restaurant but not fight to save the city of all its problems? I think prospective is in order...
Your logic is insanely bad, and it’s “perspective”. How do you even find your way home, son?
@@VoteForBukeleeven with the wrong wording panda is right. The city needs help not the cheesecake factory. Maybe when the city is saved the cheesecake factory can come back.
@@VoteForBukele I find it very odd that the governor Newsom cleans up the city only when someone important comes over but the rest of the time leaves it like shit and unsafe. It happens all the time especially when the Media shows SF to be on the days that they are filming and what it is on a regular basis are two completely different things. The reality of the situation is that the city has become very dirty(Trash, shit and homeless) unsafe (the current police forces does nothing as well as policies that prevent them from upholding the law) and dangerous (Bipping, drugs/needles, theft and assault) . It is sad to see that the Newsom has changed the laws that effect crime punishment to be less and thus causing crime to be rampant. As well as the government poor allocation of funds.
@@MrSaaadpandado you not realize how stupid you sound?
@@MrSaaadpanda your understanding of the American system of government is remedial, son. Newsom hasn’t “changed the laws”. The laws were enacted by a proposition that the citizens of California voted on. It was overwhelmingly adopted. It was a stupid proposition. Therefore, if you’re a Californian, and you voted, then statistically YOU changed the laws. May I recommend you all just sign off the internet for a few days, read a book and come back when you can think your way out of a wet paper bag with a sledgehammer? Cuz right now, you really ain’t doing anything but wasting bandwidth. Kthxbye.
So hilarious to see San Francisco get exactly what it asked for. Those liberal policies are working out well.
Worked there as a bussed from 2015-2019 and man that was lit. Open and closing would make $150 a day in tips. Much love to whoever still there.
I worked at the daily grill right across the street on Powell & Geary Black Friday 2004 union square 20 years ago was hopping like any crazy holiday season back in those days our general manager was friends with the general manager of the cheese cake factory my general manager told me we made about 5 thousand dollars in sales that day that’s the Friday after thanksgiving day the general manager of the Cheesecake Factory told my general manager that they had a non stop line from the time they opened until the time they closed & they raked in 50 grand just on that one day after thanksgiving Black Friday how our economy has changed
@@dancalestini5698 damn I was a kid during those days…when I was 18 working there they would rack in 12-24 max morning 26-40 max during busy season. When I went back it began dropping as well.
I’ll answer what’s going to replace Macy’s ? Absolutely nothing.
Wrong. More Vagrancy and Crime will replace Macy's.
Three possible conversions:
1)Hotel resort
2)University
Or
3)Medical facility
A whole lot of empty space.
OMG, San Francisco was one of the jewels of the world. What the eff have people done to it? It's a ghost town. Who is God's name want to even go there. The wharf area is a sewer. I was raised in Marin and going to The City, especially at Christmas, was just magical. Why have people let this happen, why would people want to do this to it. Macy's was wonderful. HORRIBLE!!!!!
Democrat voters killed SF
I still love the city and will be going there until I die. If you love San Francisco, stop putting it down and go there. There’s so much beauty to it and it’s still a vibrant city. Treasure Island is coming along and it’s still bustling. The loss of Macy’s is huge but it doesn’t stop anything..
@@shaunmc013 It's not just Macy's. This is a long time coming and no, I stay up in Sonoma County when I come down. My family and friends are in Petaluma, Cotati, and Rhonert Park. I love the farm to table, the wineries, the little shops in Healdsburg and Windsor and I don't need to see what's happened to San Francisco.
One of my very favorite Sunday past times was to go into the wharf area and walk along the water front, see all the people, the nutty and interesting local characters, go to The Cannery, and Ghirardelli Square. My parents loved Altiotos. The wharf is a cheap ghost town, crap shops, junk, and Burger King. Nope, don't need.
@@pamelawing5747you asked what happened to it, but you are answering your own questions. Keep in mind we had a pandemic that added to the great exodus that the tech boom created as well. My point is - if you love the city, don’t ask why this or that, or bash it. Come back to it!!! To me the Cheesecake Factory is not as big a deal as Macy’s. CF is a totally different entity that could stay there, if they’re making money. But if people are just staying home talking crap and not supporting these businesses or the city, it’s all going to be vacant.
@@shaunmc013 Your nose is growing....fast
Apple and Niketown will follow suit if nothing changes in SF policies.
GOING , GOING , GONE.
Goooood, RIDDANCE!
If Macy's is closing many of its stores, but keeping Bloomingdale's stores; why not move the Bloomingdale's at SF Centre into the Union Square building? Which is a better location with better views. That way Cheesecake Factory can stay put.
It's a Fancy Pants Fun Place in San Francisco!! Speaking of Fancy Pants , Homelessness around the area don't wear any!!😂😂😂😂😂😂
With the city in such abysmal condition this is the least of their problems. Where you gonna leave your car and expect to see it still unsmashed when you finish your cake?
"...a legislator to prevent restaurant from closing" wow.
Its a domino effect, a chain reaction
How do Democrat voters not see the oncoming train?
not the cheesecake factory!!!!
SPECTACULAR VIEW OF a bleak future for SF
Marisa Rodriguez has a credibility problem. Just go to one of the other Bay Area locations where parking is free, the streets are clean, and the staff are pleasant. SF waited too late to deal with these long-term problems and the businesses are moving on.
DEI beneficiary
"you can get spaghetti and salad"...what am I gonna do now in the city with no restaurants
Think about who you vote for for your local leadership.
Spaghetti and salad lady ktvu interview of the year
Close, close close!
People in San Francisco are still getting used to the idea.
Lordt have mercy. 😂
Oh no! Not the Cheesecake factory! I honestly didn't even realize there was one of those in SF.
Loved going there while I lived in Oakland and East Bay in general. The 2000's were good times, and it was quite magical walking around Union Square during Christmas! But, these are consequences for enacting certain laws that allow lawlessness.
Gross tourist trap, good riddance and I hope the location becomes something actually interesting or useful.
Because you're not from the area.
@@sneat2028I've lived in SF since 2000, several years of which were within five blocks of Union Square. I just don't care about malls and dinosaur chain restaurants.
@@dathedix3951 Thanks for supporting my comment.
Another heartwarming story. Keep the hits coming, SF.
bye-bye SF
Will it survive? No!
SF is turning into a ghost town. I wonder how low it will fall before it turns back around.
@@MiMiiViVi Then why are so many restaurants and stores closing down?
Beyoncé said her favorite cheesecake factory was the one in San Francisco. I got to agree That's my favorite one too.
They should make the whole union square into an epicenter for the homeless, it could be a model for how to help the needy. Maybe make the Cheesecake Factory into a Free restaurant just for the homeless. They could have shops and other businesses dedicated to homeless people only!
Are you being facetious or are you really that stupid?
US taxpayer funded free food, rent, insurance and spending money for illegals
All their money is going to illegals.
Homeless shelter sorround cheese cake factory who would go there to eat.
Not likely to survive when you have to charge $20 for a small cheesecake...
If there's nothing to replace Macy's, do people really think they'll keep a restaurant on top of a vacant building??
What a waste of a beautiful city. Downtown is essentially gone now. Remember GAP on Powell? Old Navy? Apple Store? The Mall? Walgreens? Nordstrom? List goes on. If you guys keep voting the way you do... it's like the saying: The definition of insanity is doing the same things over and over again expecting different results.
LOL, that bougee lady was like.. i don't take it as serious dining.. it's a "FUN PLACE" .. lol , what is this Mcdonald's yard?
Penny quit her job at the Cheese Cake factory and married Leonard.
Don't try to help the local businesses and Mom and Pop restaurants from closing but try to save a huge restaurant conglomerate.
i hope they stay open. i was so sad when the nordstrom cafe near me shut down. i would love to visit that Cheesecake Factory soon.
Did they say the VIEW is spectacular?
I about had a heart attack. Thought they ment the T.V. show.
Says, the person who isn't from the area.
😂
@@sneat2028why does someone have to be from the area to make a comment about this video?? 🤦🏻♀️
@@AN-jw2oe Because too many people post ridiculous comments.

just move to China... McDonalds are planning to open 1,000 more stores in China this year, same as Starbucks in China, no closed stores, just keep expanding...
walmart, costco, GM, apple are flourishing in China...
You’d be nuts to
keep your business in San Francisco
It’s outrageous how much they’re are charging for parking in downtown!
Never underestimate the power of denial.
At the height of the BLM riots a Seattle smash and grab diva was photographed carrying the Cheesecake out of the smashed store like a prize above her head taking care not to damage it.
epic
The Seattle Cheesecake factory RIP@@mason5540
1:04 you know why Macy's is closing by now.
The employees deserve to be unemployed. Attitude up to the ceiling when asking for more water or bread.
Typical Bay Area pretzel logic.
Seems like the wrong priorities
Can't tell anyone how many times I've eaten here at this location.
Malls are dying or dead. Online shopping has largely replaced brick and mortar retail and certainly big box giants have suffered tremendously over the last 2 decades. What retail giant is going to take on that space? Who's left? Sears and Penney's are gone (not that they would have been in that market anyway. Nordstrom and Bloomingdales are obviously out. Walmart could afford to do it, but they refuse to pay SF wages and benefits which is why there isn't one in the city. What's left that could realistically use that space? The largest gym/workout facility in the world? A massive grocery store? Not likely. My guess is that Union Square will NEVER be the shopping district it once was. It's an artifact from a soon to be bygone era. Hate to say it, but maybe it's time to consider rezoning from commercial to residential or mixed use, tear down that building and replace it with a mix of residential over retail space with a really good grocery store on street level.
🎉
I was never a fan of sf but remained here for work and the people I met. I came out here broke , lost my home in a flood. 2007 - going to the academy of arts. Any of my college friends we would have a birthdays here. Saved up our money already being broke. And order drinks and food and cheesecake and looks at the city at night. Flirt with the staff. When i started next as a cosmetologist in beauty school, would come here with the girls from school and party it up appropriately. When I had my own business- I came here with my assistants or clients because it was around the corner. I unfortunately no longer have my business but Cheesecake Factory has been the longest staple of my sf living . It can’t end. Also I’ll be back Cheesecake Factory it’s raining so much and I’m gonna make my date take me there. Cuz love always starts with cheesecake!
You know, there are Cheesecake Factories in other places. You could move away from SF and still eat exactly the same microwaved frozen food from their distribution hub. The inside would even look the same. Also, maybe your business failed because in a city with incredible food available everywhere you took clients to a crummy tourist trap.
$15 was tough enough. The new $20 minimum wage is gonna destroy restaurants.
That whole building should become a food hall, like one of those NYC, DUMBO or Hudson Yards food halls and bring back foot traffic to the area.
Remember, we can spend Billions on Ukraine, Israel, etc
But something we really need and want? Nah! No way , impossible!
Also like the Anaheim Meatpacking District.
Thats a great idea
Please don't give them anymore ideas lmao.@@ArtVandalay-iy9ob
Turn it into a communist style cafeteria with free slop and tap water
This’s very sad, Californian’s please let’s change official government in California mayor, governor and the rest!
lol replacing a restaurant losing money with a new restaurant
If only it wasnt overpriced and dark inside....
Have not been in awhile but the move was to always shop in Macy's and the surrounding area, and also grab cheesecake factory.
They are delusional. Dominos will fall...Every major shopping center has what is called an "Anchor". It serves as the main attraction and draw for customers. Macy's was a major anchor. No one will fill that huge void. No anchor= less customer drawing power= less foot traffic=less exposure for Cheesecake Factory= closing in less than a year. How do I know? I design retail centers and talk to developers, brokers, real estate leasing agents...sad, but inevitable.
"Be excited for the future of Union Square"
We can argue whether or not Cheesecake Factory is the best chain restaurant in the country. What can't be disputed is it's one of the busiest, if not flat out busiest. For them to possible close their doors in that dump of a city, it harkens over to the uber successful In-N-Out closing its doors in Oakland.
The cheesecake factory no longer even serves good food. Why save it ?
When the cheesecake factory first opened up for the first several years, the quality of food was very high, and then something abruptly happened, and quality of the food declined rapidly and extremely noticeably .
We thought it was because maybe one chef left . Maybe they switched different food vendors that no longer provided them with quality raw ingredients..
But whatever it was, it got us to stop going back. Our families are children, uncles and cousins, coworkers, and associates. All agree that none of us go back there because the quality is so low. .
For those who think the cheesecake factory is fantastic good for you, Ben, so must be McDonald’s and Taco Bell 🤣
Cheesecake Factory sucks, especially that one. The food is less than mediocre and overpriced. If you want Cheesecake Factory, Hillsdale Mall has one.
Closed permanently
At lease I think the ikea is doing well
Move to Texas or Florida.
Bay Area will be skeleton in a few years. This makes me sooo sad
Why would they wait around to fail, get out! Move to a real city that respects its businesses and citizens.
I never ate there. Maybe I'm responsible.
Yes
welcome to the city of NOWHERE VILLE
There should be a ballot measure.... JFC I swear some people. If you want to spend a half hour rifling through a 40+ page menu you can go to the location in San Mateo... oh wait what's that your eBike can't get you there? Well you can take CalTrain and then use your eBike.
Not safe for your cars from assault
why risk our lives to eat cake ????
Their prices are ridiculous and they are just another chain restaurant
Vote Steve Garvey in November!
That restaurant sucks. It should close.
better eat frozen packaged cheesecake from groceries?
Can’t survive the Animals!!!!!
The city as it stands can't support a business anymore
I love everything at the cheesecake factory
Welcome to the new era....Iconic era is over.
You don't get to declare anything.
Funny how everyone commenting on this story, haven’t stepped foot in SF in decades lol 😂 but quick to try to bash it. If you truly care go there and spend your dollars 💵 with the city. That’s why Macy’s closing, because no one is going there anymore. Get out of the house and go visit on the weekends even. Show your support for the city, instead of criticizing it. It’s still one of the most beautiful places in the world..🌎
your mayor wants a soccer stadium at macys.
No cheese cake for you!
NEXT
Keep voting for the same people and this is what you end up with. Focus first on cleaning up the area and making it safe otherwise more companies will leave SF
San Francisco will somehow survive this
I wouldn't live in San Francisco and I wouldn't live in Oakland all those retailers if I was you get out of both of those cities cuz they don't respect you and they don't care about you get out while you can
10 years ago it was grewat, but went 3-4 years ago and the quality and service went way down hill. Had to send food back! Never did that before at CF.
Nobody cares about Cheesecake Factory. I would rather eat in local restaurant than get mugged/bipped in San Francisco
That cheesecake is worth a windy and bruised drive back home!
The corporate groveling 😂
grand opening grand closing

Keep voting Democrat and you won’t even have a goodwill drop box left!
how will i eat... cheesecakes? 😢
Overpriced frozen food, good riddance.
Macy's & CF leaving is bad. It would have been totally dystopian if El Farolito left.
who would want to move there? its a terrible place now
My own cheesecake is better than theirs!
I am surprised it's still there. BTW slow service and overpriced.
Please keep it open
what a travasry!!!!!!
SHOULD BE a giant homeless and drug addict space
Yes it will, and most businesses will leave San Francisco. But, much more important news for San Francisco. We must route more energy, resources, and funding into Driverless Cars. This is only thing that we want is not to have to drive a car or have another person in the car driving. Please make sure you do not drive anywhere ever again so driverless cars can drive for you and you can pay for it.
Why is there even a Cheesecake Factory location in SF? I thought we had class, even at our lowest point locals have better taste than to eat there. Must be for tourists, good riddance.
Fyi, the old macys is turning into a migrant shelter
Stop posting ridiculous comments.
San Francisco is dying. Get out while you can!
Cheese cake factor serving unhealthy food one person at a time…who cares?
