Idiot
Where is the link for common sense?
you cant fix that scotty like your channel put no way ....im a painter.you cant shine color but your can shine clear and you didnt shine the color and i can still see it ...total fail ...and for all of us painter thats hilarious....!
I see you're being smart and earning monies on sales. ;-) Way to go Kilmer!
Am I the only one that loves the way he talks? that accent is so sweet and comforting.
All of his videos are also asmr
Yeah...you're the only one.
would be fun to have him as a neighbor, you would hear him yelling out loud when he records haha.
He literally sounds like a news anchor here in Detroit! That's crazy!!!!
Just without the accent.
Scotty if you keep dipping that buffer when it's plugged in into that bucket of water, you may not be around much longer to make any more RUclips videos.
Lol totally true
Lol 😁 😁 😁
He should say "Don't do this at home"
John Hughes 🤣🤣🤣🤣
SCOTTY need to be hire to clown my circus
"First thing you wanna do is make the buffing pad A LITTLE BIT wet"
*drops the whole damn thing into the water anyway* lmao
Connected to power too 😆
Haahahahaha
I can hear ammonyc crying lol
Hahaha love it
@Josh Champlin so his polisher was not the move? What do you recommend
I like the faded look. I worked hard to get it. It goes well with my clothes and my shoes.
Lol, hobaneng ocho jwalo

I live in Houston and have always seen your tips and tricks on TV. What are the odds I search for simple tips with sun spots and you pop up first. A report you did saved me from buying a flood car recently.of course the owner said it had never been flooded but I looked for the water/rust line under the hood. You saved me big!! Keep up the good work.
A word of advice when doing this is to never overbuff because it will start to take the paint off. A way to avoid this is to NOT BUFF PAINT AT NIGHT because you can't really tell how much you've done.
Wesley Bennington assume you learned this the HARD WAY LOL.
😅😅
you’re probably the only mechanic in Texas that actually is the honest mechanic i seen
Dude is a legend i never had interest in car stuff till i found scotty.
if it's too high on the rpm speed, the transmission is causing that, which is typical. If it's normal rpms, check the motor and transmission mounts.
You know I really like this video. Short and to the point and he still tells us how to actually do it!
How you doing
well, I was in the same boat as you until a few years ago when someone showed me the water trick. So I pass it on.
my neighbors at my old house painted their car with house paint and brushes, no joke.
When I was a kid I painted an entire VW station wagon with about 15 cans of spray paint, it looked awesome.
How’d it look
I loath cars like that 😖
😂
Gene Friedman Well, they had to keep re-painting it.
there is a small bit on the edge that goes down to the primer coat, but it looks much better overall. Realize that car is 20 years old, and so is that paint.
I’ve seen a few videos on how to buff out paint, love your video because you get straight to the point.
Wrong my boy.....he gets straight to the “paint”!
mothers synthetic wax, pretty good stuff.

Actually I cheated, I'm 60 tommorow.
now your 66 wow old as fuk
@@Pinkielover A baby, a mere baby!
I noticed the "Hell on Wheels" emblem you had on the car! I was part of that unit, 2nd Armored Division if I remember correctly, back in the early 1990s.
Might as well buff the car on a rainy day 😂
I was waiting for him to get electrocuted lol

Your energy gives me life. Sweet, short and straight to the point.. Amazing videos
don't know what you mean by "heavy" but if it's smooth on the highway but not in town, often worn out struts do that.

Thank you, I will try that.

Did you?
U cute 🥰
will waxing my civic add horsepower because i added 5 stickers on the rear window and its like i added turbo
No, those stickers add a lot of weight. To counter that, you should remove the airbags.
Stickers add horsepower. Wax and emblems add torque.
Haha on point !!
No you gotta remove your balls before you sit in the car to reduce weight and drag.
nah the stickers already put out the max body to horse power mods
Lmao. It felt like I just watched an infomercial!
You did
For some odd reason, my 09 Corolla has a small area of paint fade. I wax it religiously. Doesn't look like clear coat failure, just paint fade. Gonna give this a try...
Man, the way you say "start buffing away" 😂😂😂 nice
No mistake, it's a double grounded power tool, I have many, some actually are soaked in liquids as they run.
Yea and outside uses gfi plugs that pop when they get wet to stop from getting shocked. They seen to many movies where the hairdryer falls in the tub lol
Scotty is the ultimate smartass! Lol you gotta love this dude.
good stuff, I use it at times.
THANK YOU !! 😊 YOU SAVED ME A COUPLE OF HUNDRED DOLLARS ON A PAINT JOB !!
Hundreds? A paint job is in the Thousands if you want it properly done....
You noticed. that was my first option for the really bad parts. Hey, I only paid 350 bucks for the whole running car.
200 for mine and I'm pushing 110 +mph every other day for the past 2 year it's a 96 Toyota Corolla 5 speed same engine as celica mines 7afe
You got me there, I was thinking you meant the Corvette for a minute. 😆
Scotty never pushes more than 50 mph.
Damn, this is one of the craziest man on youtube) For sure, videos about his life in 70s, will be very interesting)
You’ve came a long way Scotty! Keep up the videos i love them 🍻
Nice to see Getty Lee give some solid car detailing tips
Hands down, easiest and best method!!! Thank You Scotty!!!
YES, you should absolutely dip your power tools in a bucket of water while plugged in, WHY wouldn't you?
OMG, recently used stick blender into liquid!
By all means people, plug in your electrical devices and hop into the bathtub with them. I mean these bozos think it's totally safe to do. Yeah yeah, the cord is on the other side and machines are built this way yadda yadda. Still, I think I'll pass.
Ron leo gfci
Just make sure to use one hand to dip your power buffer...much safer. LOL
Asus Kybd a Nissan Xterra how would you put a water pump on and take it out
The problem with faded paint on new cars is caused by clearcoat. There is really no way to protect clearcoat, and when it burns off from exposure to sunlight, nothing but a new paint job (without clearcoat) is the only answer. I have a 1993 Chevy pickup. I bought it new. It is kind of a light tan color. (non metallic) It was sun faded, but not spotted. I was able to polish it back to almost like new condition, just by removing the dried out top layer of paint with polishing compound. I then gave it a good coat of wax. I did this by hand, not with a polisher machine. I don't recommend those because if you are not experienced, it is real easy to polish right through the paint.
Most new cars have metallic paint, and it has it's own problems. Unlike non metallic, it tends to fade in spots, and no amount of polishing can bring it back. If you are buying a new car, the best thing you can do to avoid sun caused paint damage is to buy a white car. Even with clearcoat, white paint lasts a lot longer than any other color, and to me it has a nice clean look.
Gerald Scott, a dual action polisher on a low speed is pretty safe to use. Now one of those high rpm polishers pro detailers use, yeah not for a beginner. They can quickly polish right through the clear coat.
For the guy with a question... You can, but the color layer of paint is very thin. Odds are you'll burn through the color coat while sanding it. That's the main reason most won't even try it. If it was just one small area, maybe, but usually all the upper surfaces start flaking off at the same time as those surfaces receive the most sunlight. At that point only a new paint job is going to fix it.
No the problem is not the clear coat its the color coat. In fact the reason some color coats fade is because they never were clear coated to begin with. They typically dont clear coat pearl colors because it doesnt look as good as not clear coated.
I guess I'll do a video on this soon guy's ! Love this Scotty kilmore .
I fixed my peeling clear coat . I sanded it down to the primer and had maaco paint it . It looks great .
bantayan island life I heard they have cheap paint jobs under 500
@@bobbyhill4460really?
Yeah but will that work on cars where the clear cost is coming off? The cars paint on the pic of the video is a different car from the one he’s actually working on..will this stop the rest of the clear coat coming off or is it just a temporary solution?
Umm. I'm guessing those buffers are built to be a bit splash proof... but I think dipping the electrical power tool in a bucket of water might be pushing it.
yes, you have to be careful, hence I use so much water. The purists whined at me using so much water, but it prevents eating off too much paint all at once.
Very nice tip. You're really a great guy Scotty. You even took the time to post where these items can be bought. I am so glad to have subscribed to your channel. Thank you !
Scotty my man. The people's man.
First video ive seen of this guy and I'm hooked
That might have been the worst buffing technique I’ve even seen lol
If it's stupid and it works, it isn't stupid.
NormieMemes it basically didn’t work, all he’s done is rip all of the loose clear coat off with the buffer and wore down a level in the base coat to make it all shiny.
Don't be whiny, it's shiny.
@@panzerfaust5046 If you don't know what you're supposed to see it is shiny. To a body guy or any detailer, this is a completely barbaric move
@@mitchell9103 It's an extremely cheap barbaric move that gives a great result for the price. Sorry most of us don't have 1k to drop on buffing a toyota
this isn't faded paint, the clear coat has started to peel revealing the base colour beneath which on a metallic finish will be a matte finish, so this method really doesn't look good, it needs touching up with some clear and some paint-matched colour if the base is blotchy from the elements
yup, just what i was thinking, is better to wetsand the panel and re-clear or even better, re-clear the hole car
the idea is to make it look a little bit better when you have no money to clear or paint the whole car, this is seen everywhere in the world where people have no money too
dannys delgado you can re-clear that pannel with less than $100
My e36 has some sun stain/clear coat pealing on the hood and roof in spots. If I wanted to touch them up would i need to reclear the whole hood and roof or could i just wetsand the parts and reclear those parts, or would I have to do the whole panel?
for a proper job reclearing the whole thing, if it's just a few spots you can get away with spot clearing be careful of sanding the color as it's probably metallic base coat and will be thinly coated
Inflation crazy the buffer cost me $35 at autozone and the maguires compound cost me $15 😭 still cheap though thats scotty i just found that crazy
Love your coconut opening skills!
When you know how much time it takes to make these videos i'd just say.... Thanks a LOT for sharing with us !!!
Thank you so much. I'll have to give this a try. My car's clear coat has started peeling and wearing off, so I'm tempted to give this a try - rather than paying for a spray paint job on my car. Many thanks x
ok so far the coconut opening ending is my favorite!! :D :D
Remember, you got to put the lime in the coconut...
Would you suggest unplugging the buffer before dipping the pad in water?
no.
Best video Ice seen for restore. Thank you. Simple but effective
never seen a buffer dunked in a bucket of water. only a genius like scotty kilmer could think of this
Love your practical in site on all things automotive related. Thanks Scotty !!
This absolutely did not work on my car
Why not..

Thanks for the quick reminder I'm helping my tired paint job!
That coconut looked like you! Lmao Love your channel Scotty!!!!!!
I've been also using that compound for years it works awesome
So happy I found your channel. I've learned so much! My daughter just subscribed too! Thank you again!!!!!
He said a little wet and proceeds to submerge the whole pad in a bucket of water... XD Best RUclipsr ever
yes, but it looks much better after waxing. Paint is twenty years old after all. I'm just too cheap to get the old work car resprayed.
yep I learned the hard way ...about 25 years ago I owned a 68 fastback Mustang ..waxed it in the sun........took a year of re-waxing to remove the baked on wax
Thank you for your Service !!!! My dad was 101 Airborne.
@ 1:21... Glad you didn't get electrocuted! ⚡😵⚡😵⚡😵⚡
I love your freaking awesome enthusiasm and passion....Thank you sir!!!!
If you let them dry out when done, no drawbacks.
That is clear coat damage and this is not how you fix this problem.
The point is just to make it look decent.
How u fix it then?
Shaun Hunter repaint with a clear coat application. No diy on that. You have to pay a professional. Very expensive
It sure looked a lot better! 🤔
Chillin with Dylan it’s not fixed.
my grandfa never fail to amuse me. thank you so much i dodge the 2k repaint job on my car. I love you granfa.
You're always reliable, Scotty.
Car Detailers are crying right now....
Scotty does this work even if the clear coat has failed !!
Very clever to sink the polishing machine in water while plugged 👍👍👍
You have to repaint it, we can even see on your video, it didn't really worked
It says fix! Not make it less visible.
This does work. Ive done this professionally (at least for clear coat damage such as scratches) and personally use Meguiars compound. Although, I don’t exactly agree on his techniques. For something that bad you’re gonna want to use a heavier pad and work to lighter pad to avoid any scratches or imperfections from the pad. Also you don’t need that much compound on the car or the pad. For a 5.25” orbital pad, you only need about 5-6 penny size squirts on the pad only. Then spray the pad with a little water. Not saturate it like shown here. Also, something he forgot to mention, buy a random orbital sander. It’ll avoid getting swirl marks on the paint.
I'd rather spend $50 and 3 hours every 4 months than a $1000. I'd plasti-dip it myself with the professional spray kits before I ever paid for a paint job.
Phillip DiCarlo i sniff panty crotch everyday sniff sniff
Sand all the shit clear coat off then polish and wax is the cheapest option unless you wanna get a new clear coat
The clear coat on my truck tail gate is about gone, I've spent part of the day wet sanding it to prepare it for new primer and paint which I'll do later this week.
Keep making awesome videos Scotty!
"I'm doing this under the shade of a tree" XD
MR.KILMER YOU SIR ARE A BADASS IN MY EYES!!
Hey Scotty, I didn't know you were with the screaming chickens. That's pretty cool, I was a paratrooper as well in the eighty duce.
I really am thankful that you have a channel here because if I got a question that you have a solution. Plus your Good
it's my work car.
good tips i wasnt putting water on buffer that was my problem lol thanks for video
This guy is a badass!!
You can do the same thing with mag polish and wax on an electric buffer. No need to tempt fate with water and electricity. A fix like this one is across the street good, especially for a white car.
tried it out and filmed it (made a channel vid), tried using hand buff versus machine. My paint wasn't as bad as this though, but it did do something. Doing it by hand makes you all sweaty too. That...didn't come out right. Kinda skipped the water step, was only doing a small test area anyway. You can always just remove the cloth/pad and rinse it if you're scared of getting electrocuted.
he uses a lot of water to keep the temperature down....it looks crazy, but there is always a method to his madness.
Scotty

Definitely wouldn't recommend placing the buffet PLUGGED into the 120V power into the water bucket!!! Big NO NO buddy. Where OSHA when you need them....
Then the finished product really needed some clear coat.... But I guess you were after a quick clean up video...
As always, keep em coming Scotty!!!
Thank you so much! This was super helpful! I'm getting started on my oxidization right now!
You Just really helped me out! I was going to pay 1000 bucks to get my left side of my car repainted because it looks dull discolored and rough but watching this shows me how simple it is to do it and I'm definitely a
This guy is the man!
First of all, what do you know about paint and body works? Nothing. So you must be one of his pretenders.
Scottys airborne thats badass
at 56 sec his sunglasses majically turn clear :-).
Transitions Lenses, google it, bruh
Whoa, good catch!
Hi Scotty. I need to find out how to fix a problem I have on my 2003 ford explorer tracker. After replacing the engine on this vehicle I just purchased, I noticed that the headlights and side lights will not turn off. Power windows windshield wipers do not work. What's going on???? I'm sick with tension!!! And grief!
Or the easiest way compound number 7 and then wax it
And if you really want a great shine clay bar your car before it gets into this condition then buff and wax using a very fine cutting compound.
Good video , straight to the point . Hopefully will work on faded spot on my car 🤞🏾
Scotty always keep up the great content!!
