To clarify: The ride model is just called the "Speed," but certain installations are named "Speed XXL." When I researched this, the page made it sound like "Speed XXL" was the name of the model and not just that specific installation. The footage shown in this video is not of the specific ride named "Speed XXL", but the model is exactly the same.
Also, the Inversion 24's gondolas are capable of unlocking and rotating freely. However, regulations prevent them from unlocking at the top height. So most operators leave them locked throughout the ride cycle. Every clip of the ride I've seen shows them staying locked during the whole ride. But apparently, some operators will unlock them. Its just rare

    • @A7x_Forever
      @A7x_Forever 10 месяцев назад +5

Yeah. And unfortunately, there is no point. When the Infinity was still in its early years, operators stated in an interview that the gondolas will eventually flip when released, like you mostly get on Inversion 12s. However, the gondolas are way too heavy and since German regulation prohibits them from unlocking them at full power (since you could hypothetically flip upside down at the loading station and experience an honestly red-out inducing -5G, the operators don't even bother anymore. It is what it is.

For a long time, I was unable to go on thrill rides because there was a ride named the "Booster" at my local fair. It was the first time that I went on a ride that made you go upside down. Unfortunately, I got stuck on the ride upside down for over 20 minutes, and I panicked. For years, I refused to go on any ride, but thankfully, now I'm okay.

The zipper has always been my favorite ride at my local fair. I love how unpredictable it is and the amount of force pulled on you at each turnaround is insane. It's a bit harder to ride now as an adult but it doesn't stop me.

      @Crafting_Through_Life 10 месяцев назад +5

Haha glad I wasn’t the only one to mention the zipper. That is one ride I have never gotten back on. As a kid my brother whom was 5yrs older than me got us spinning so fast it flung me out of the seat and buckles and I tumbled around the cage until the ride stopped. I was covered in bruises for weeks and broke my pinky finger.

Hell yeah! If Im driving along and see a carnival and it has a Zipper, I pull over and hop on (okay I've done that two or three times, but I always at least think about doing it every carnival I see lol). I challenge you next time you're driving along and see a carnival, stop what you are doing and hop on. It can only make your day better, even if you're a few minutes late to what you were on your way to do.

The Zipper was my mother’s favourite carnival ride. As a kid I would have wanted the new restraints on the Zipper than the ‘classic’ mode. For my first time on this ride, I felt very uncomfortable with holding onto nothing BUT the bar. After I got off it I told my mom how rough and intense it felt. She said that it’s an older ride that got a more rough over time. Little did I know that the Zipper, out of 30 other thrill rides is considered to be the MOST INTENSE!

The Zipper is indeed intense the main thing that sucks is when your not moving and just rocking back and forth as another cage is being loaded/unloaded. Every time we came around back down to Earth, my seat rotated facing the ground, and continuing to face the ground, including through the transition of going back up. My experiences:
    • The Remix is just insane. My feet start tingeling because the blood rushed down there. Very very fast ride.
    • The Star Shapes weren't all that intense. I rode the one at Skyline Park and the traveling one "High Energy" in germany. They are nice and comfy and not really that fast, but pleasent! The new brakes in the gondolas are just a dealbreaker for me. Now they are reeeeaaaally slow. Look at "Air" from the UK with the inner seats missing, almost no swinging occurs.
    • The Rocket was nice, but repetetive. Rode it on the Oktoberfest. A more thrilling version of a Starflyer pretty much, but the flipping is at a more graceful pace for more hangtime. I rode it while it was raining like crazy, but still very fun.
    • Yeah the KMG speeds are awesome. I prefer the Booster Maxx models by Fabbri (why listed below).
    • The Top Scan has to be my fav. The laterals in the outer seat are unmatched. My face is glued to the restraint. This is just crazy. the "Skater" on german fairs cranks it up to the max everytime.
    • Maybe I'm just used to the Top Spins because I've ridden them a ton, but I don't find them all that intense anymore. We have 2 traveling in germany and one suspended one at Phantasialand. Awesome, but the traveling ones have very uncomfortable restrains. Also I prefered the Top Spin 2 models. They are smaller, but the flipping is crazy fast. Best: KMG Discovery 1.0.
    • The Capriolo 10P is a mixed bag. I actually prefer the older models without the extra spin. It always feels like you crash head first down which is more terrifying to me personally. But I have to say: These were the most intense negative g's I've ever experienced. My head wanted to pop after 3 rides in a row. This is like the Top Scan no joke. You really should be in a good condition when riding these.
    • The Inversion 24 is fun, but goes only upside down once. ONCE. It just takes so long and needs so much power to get up there. The positives are good, though.
    • I have to disagree with the HUSS Booster: It does not feel like a Mondial shake, not at all. A shake really feels like a breakdance thanks to it's aditional axis of rotation and it is a LOT tamer than the Booster. The laterals are insane. One moment you're upright, the other moment you get flug upside down instantly. The sideways swinging also can give some awesome airtime when everything is right.
    • The Rotor is advertised as a family ride in germany on the Oktoberfest. The laughing from people who never tried it before (mostly tourists) is always a joy to watch.
    - Rides which could be on the list for next time:
    • Soriani & Moser Top Star Tour. I rode Predator in germany. Not only does it look impressive, the negative g's when it flips back to normal are shockingly strong. I didn't expect that.
    • Technical Park Pegasus models. Great speed, great laterals and pretty much the same amount of flipping as with a top scan. The op can lock the gondolas at the top so you blast though the station upside down for some wicked negative g's. My fav. with the Top Scan.
    • Mondial Heartbreaker. Not the most intense, but lots of flipping on a very small footprint. Really really fun!
    • Huss Take Off. The ones on germany still go full speed. Heavy positive g's like a never ending pretzel loop.
    • Fabbri Contact. Really heavy positive g's and laterals. Really odd looking, but man what an odd but intense experience.
    • Fabbri Heavy Rotation. Also really insane positive's in your back and very fast spinning. Similar forces to the Take Off.
    • Fabbri Booster Maxx 55/16. Really really fast and crushing positives.
I case you the reader didn't notice: I love flat rides and I rode them pretty much all my life. If you made it to the end here: respect mate.

Wow!

Before I rode Rebuliço, the newest Zamperla's Air Race in Beto Carrero World, Huss' Top Spin was my favorite flat ride. Even though the only one I rode, Hopi Hari's Ekatomb, don't operates at full cycle, with three spins at most, I still found out way too thrilling. Unfortunately, it's the only one in Brazil as well.
The other ride I rode on this list was Top Scan. When I was visiting Knott's Berry Farm, my mom wanted to ride Sol Spin. I asked her if she was sure of that, and she said "yeah, let's go". She though it was a gentle ride. At the first spin, she yelled really loud that I couldn't help laughing at her! I did not enjoy the ride per se, but her reaction worth it!!

Been on the zipper once as a teenager…. And that was enough for me!! It was more terrifying than the Doppel Looping. It was a staple of the Canadian National Exhibition in the 90’s. It was a simple double looping coaster but it only had a metal restraint bar… that was it. No seatbelts… just the bar.

The Capriolo 10P is a tamed down version.
The original model, Capriolo 8, is also able to do that upside down dive, but engage in a series of flips afterwards. It's just more whippy overall and is a much more intense experience

The Remix is quite fun, went on it 3 times with my step-sister. I went on something similar to the Gyro Swing/Giga Discovery at Oaks Park in Oregon, and it was very fun. I did both the 180 and 360. I go on the Gravitron almost every year at the fair, it is a favorite of one of my ex-friends. This year at the fair, I went on the Rotor [called the Rave at my fair] 3 times and it was super fun. I went onto something very similar to the Zipper as well, but I don't remember much of it and my step-sister didn't allow me to flip the cart.

At Six Flags Magic Mointain and many other parks, the "Rotor" was known as "Spin Out". The empty space where it once stood is still visible in the park if you are across from the Gold Rusher and about to trek up that hill. You can look to your right and it's near the empty unused gazebo thing that used to serve as the lower station for the defunct Dragon ride (it was a transport ride that would get you up that side of the hill; the upper station is now used for Ninja).

Knoebels also has a working Roll-O-Plane ride. I never tried it (I'm not fond of upside-down rides). But I watched it operate, and the distinctive noise that its chain drive makes while it's operating made it a joy to watch. Knoebels has almost every old carnival ride you remember. They're working on a "new" old ride called the Bayern Kurve - still being assembled when I was there June 7, 2023. It's supposed to be intense.

Wow, the Rotpr. What a pick. The small town of Amherstburg Ontario had a small island park called Boblo Island that closed permanently after the 1993 season. Nothing special when it came to theme parks in general but one of the Boats that used to go there from Detroit was used in I think the third transformers movie, one of the rollercoasters there was used for the love shots in final destination 3, and their falling star ride is operating at Michigan's adventure (I think). There was a Rotor model amd it was my introduction to "big kid rides". It was such a memorable park and a great place for local families to bring their kids, of course it was often derided by people who favored nearby Cedar Point.
My daughter's introduction to big kid rides was just th8s summer and it was the gravitron.

Oh man zipper is my favorite carnival ride next to the KMG Experience. I got a ride where i was able to get the car to constantly flip though the whole ride. I counted up to to 52 flips such a great ride and no midway is complete without a Zipper.
