      [Try4ce] Very much the core theme of this. I got back into NES in the late '90s when I realized I missed SO MANY games for it. And to this day, the greatest joy for me in retro gaming is discovering "new to me" favorites on old systems. I really wanted to push back against the prevailing notion that it's all about nostalgia.

      @@mylifeingaming That's what it's been like for me with the Sega Saturn. I adored shmups in the arcades way back in the day, and discovering that there are so many great shmups on the system has been a wonder to me, and that doesn't even include classics like the Panzer Dragoon series. I actually discovered Panzer Dragoon way back in 2002 or 2003 with Panzer Dragoon Orta, and that began the journey of discovery for me. I was already familiar with the NES, SNES, and PS1, and so on (I turn 31 this year), but the Saturn always eluded me.

    32:00 there should be a small company to make again CRTs. like a high quality device with every wishfull connection on it for the retro community around the world. sure it would not be a company achieving very high selling numbers, but i am sure there would be a small market for it. like make 3 models wich difference is only the sice 20inch 30inch and 40inch or so. it has to have rf, composite, s-video, component, vga, scart and for newer nonsense even hdmi/dp. something similar to philips tvs with pixelplus which really had a high res mask.
    that would be so great.

    27:18 - “They’re loud, noisy, and have this weird squeaking sound.”
    We’re all getting older in ways that aren’t so obvious. CRTs emit a high frequency sound in the 15700Hz range. I can no longer hear frequencies above 15000Hz, but it must be very noticeable to this kid.
    I suppose that’s alright though. While most classic consoles will survive for a very long time, these CRT displays will age and die alongside us. Retro gaming is for everyone, but CRTs belong to our generation.

      To be honest this section of Game Tech / Jason talking about people thinking he's rich, living within his (debt free) means and Doing it all while foregoing heath cover felt a bit misplaced.

      @user-fb8yb8so8n 4 года назад +2

      @@Fattydeposit true, but it still sucks that it's implied that you need a corporate job to get standard non‐debt inducing health care. This man has lived in fear his whole life of debt, trying to do everything right and pay everything off. An ambulance alone in the US goes over 1000$ easily. Meanwhile our politicians can't even balance the national debt while here we are debating whether or not we can afford to go to the ER. It's shameful and almost every other developed country has already figured this out.

      Same. What happened with Mega SG adapters?

    • @CaptAwesumNo1Zone
      @CaptAwesumNo1Zone 4 года назад +2

      People had to wait about a year, with their questions and comments being either blocked or totally ignored, only to have all the adaptors show up all at once with no warning one morning and sell out within an hour at a higher price then originally planned. One batch only going to be made, all sold out within 45mins, lots including me didn't even have a chance to wake up, Analogue charges a sweet premium for their consoles promising backwards compatibility then doesn't deliver and moves on to the next project with no intentions of finishing the last project people paid for 100% then gaming channels do nothing but hype them up with everyone and the cycle continues. PEOPLE BUYING THE ANALOGUE POCKET BE WARNED THAT THOSE ADAPTORS YOU WERE PROMISED, YOU WON'T GET THEM.

    • @CaptAwesumNo1Zone
      @CaptAwesumNo1Zone 4 года назад +2

      Not to mention the shipping is not far off from the premium price of the console itself. I've ordered things overseas from Japan and Europe before with FREE SHIPPING. Let that sink in. I'm sure that shipping $$ partially goes into Analogue's bank account which is another crime that needs to be addressed in itself..

It’s just so masterfully done, and it’s such positive content. Being a lifelong gamer became significantly more pleasant for me when I discovered this channel last year - you are the most genuine appreciators of this art form and you inspire me to enjoy it sincerely as well; reminiscent of how I enjoyed it when I was a kid, but also with the refined appreciation of an adult.
