All true! :) The standard MT with many plastic parts is just fine and much lighter than the pro. And if you plan to bash it hard, it's better and cheaper when replacing parts. I don't plan to bash this truck that hard and I like how the full metal body looks. And the weight doesn't bother me. I don't plan on jumping it insanely high so the weight won't be an issue.
Thanks! This is the redcat rampage MT pro. you can find them on their website "redcat racing". They have many different models with different price tags depending on what you want.
here's a cheap easy fix for ya,you can glue about 3 or 4 layers of aluminum foil all shiny side down on your bodys underside to make a molded heat sheild u never see from the top. love your vids, keep up the good work!
sick truck man! congrats! the picture at 3:49 is so funny. The mini revo is just tiny compared to that thing. It looks like a 1/18 scale. cool vid. keep em coming:)
Great vid bro! I can't understand why everyone is just now goin crazy over it if it's been out for 5 years!?? I've only been in to r/c about 3 years and never heard of it. Now I'm DEFINITELY getting one. Thanks
Great vid . Thats one big and awesome truck you have there. I feel kind of bad about those traxxas vehicles. I know that they can stand a beating but their bodys were mashed by this beast. Other than that everything is incredible. Cool T-shirt I like it! :D You are truly enjoying this hobby and that is awesome. No wonder why people do subscribe to your channel. It is amazing.
well done jetlag2222, was waiting for this one. gotta love these 1/5 scales! hopefully you don't run into much more problems, but I've found my baja digs deep into my pockets lol.
Get that degree!! It's worth it! :) I like both the rampage and the HPI models. All 1/5 scale trucks have some maint requirements. So be prepared. And yes I am married and have been for quite a few years. My wife doesn't have a problem with my r/c collection. She has expensive hobbies too. :))
@loud90 - I still like it a lot. It has more maint issues than I would like. Seems like I'm always fixing something on it. lol. I've stripped several gears, and I break the front dogbones regularly (I think there is some binding there on the sharp turns). None of it is very expensive, just a few bucks each time, but seems like I'm always working on it. But when that 26cc engine is cranked up and it's throwing dirt in all directions from all 4 tires, it still brings a big smile to my face.
Dude... ok man, you are gone... I mean you are OUT THERE!!! ROFL!!!! How the hell did you hear my dryer running in the background?? That is just about as obscure as anything anybody has EVER found in one of my videos. LMAO!!! When I saw this comment, I had to go back and watch the video myself and turn the volume WAY up to hear the clothes thumping around in the dryer in the background. You win! Yes it was running and that is by far the weirdest question I have gotten on any video. :))
You win the award of "Weirdest question of the year to Jetlag". lol. But it's only Jan... so we'll see if anybody tops it in the next 11 months. :) Thanks for the laugh!
lol. Thank you. I don't know about the summit VXL... What I liked about the summit was how big it was, and that it has remote locking diffs.... the summit vxl doesn't have either of those things going for it... we'll see.
lol. Thanks dude. I like this intro too. I am a huge monster truck fan and have been to many monster truck rallys and bashes and I was trying to model the intro after those with the jumps and car crushes, etc. :)
The baja 5b and 5T are both 1/5 scale too but they do not have the weight or the large monster size tires that the Rampage has, so they don't look quite as massive. However the Baja trucks are very cool too and lots of fun.
I have both of these, e-revo and a Rampage, they both have pros and cons. Some people just have no clue and need to be constently negative about everything. I love both of these rigs. the rampge is gets way more looks then my seen everywhere revo. I see you also have a revo, so you too have an informed opinion, so therefore are way more credible then lee7887 who probably couldn't afford the redcat so his envy shows. keep up the good work and "F" the haters dude.
@Lenny7118 - Congrats on the big boy. lol. The engine was tuned fine on mine. Gas engines don't need as much adjusting as nitro engines so you will probably be fine. They tune them at the factory. I don't remember what paint I used. I got it at the local hobby store and made sure it was for plastic/lexan. The body is not your regular lexan, not sure what it is, but some type of plastic.
@bluchevy01 - yeah, I actually just took it off because it doesn't seem to make much difference to the power anyway (it's got a lot of power). I may do a side pipe at some point.
The 5b and 5t are great trucks too. The Rampage is awesome, but it can be tough to find parts sometimes. They aren't available everywhere. Luckily there are several places you can order them online. Also this truck is pretty tough and I haven't broken much on it.
Yes, I break them regularly. lol. Especially the front. The 30cc motor is very powerful and I can't keep my finger off the trigger. :)) It's only the cross pin that gets snapped though inside the wheel hub from heavy torque. So I figured out a way to make my own pins for about 50 cents each using stock parts from a hobby store and a hack saw. So now when it happens I just pop in a new pin. Takes about 10 minutes to change. :)
great vid, love the redcat rampage, I have the MT pro with a bunch of hop-ups and it keeps up with my e-revo and 5b. and way more durable then both. keep up the vids, oh, the song is called "check my brain" by Alice in chains, not bullet for my valentine.
@WANTLESSXTHORNX - I think it's even more than that... I think on sharp turns there is actually some binding going on in the front hubs. If I crank the steering all the way over, and then try to turn the front wheels by hand, they turn very tightly or stiff. I think the mechanics don't quite allow for block to block steering. I filled the front cups with grease to help it slide better and adjusted my steering endpoints to be 1 degree less each way and now it seems to work much better. :)
This is the 1st redcat model I have had, but I know a couple guys that have had their nitro trucks and they swear that they are very tuff. Only thing I have heard them complain about is that sometimes parts are tough to get.
wooow increible, ese si que es un monster truck, esta enorme, pero pobre summit lo aplasto horrible jejejeje, saludos jetlag esta increible tu coleccion de rc 5*
rofl. Thanks man! Glad you liked it. Yeah this truck is HUGE! It's a lot of fun to drive but it is VERY loud. It sounds like an MX dirt bike. lol. Good thing I live far out in the country.
The manual is right. It can be anything from 33 to 45 lbs depending on what options you get. Mine does actually weigh 35 lbs empty. With a full gas tank it weighs aprox 37 lbs.
i had that pipe and used exhaust wrap on mine....then i bought the ddm dominator pipe for mine..and i have the walbro 1107 carb....my truck runs like a bat out of hell now....i highly recomend the ddm dominator pipe
Of course not. lol. RC trucks are made to jump 12 feet in the air and fall onto hard surfaces. A little driving over them didn't hurt anything at all. I took the body pins out so it would knock the bodies off and make it look more like there was damage, but it didn't really hurt them at all. :)
I have no idea what the cost would be to make your own, but probably more than just buying it by the time you buy all the 6061T aircraft aluminum to make the body and parts out of. lol. You can buy it from Redcat Racing's website, or look up their dealers.
Sadly my biggest issue is getting parts. This truck breaks front dogbone pines almost every run because it has such huge front wheels. especially on hard corners with power on. So I buy a lot, but when I run out, sometimes it's months to get more in. Overall I still like this truck and run it occasionally. But I would definitely put it a step below the Baja or the Losi 5ive as far as design and support.
@Lenny7118 - I see from your other comment that you got one... Make sure you work on the pipe. If you got the same pipe I did, it will melt and warp your body like mine did. Either wrap it in some heat shield or just take it off and get a different pipe that doesn't run so close to the body. I don't really notice that much difference in power anyway with it on or off - it has plenty of power either way, unless you are racing.
Nice video again showing off the truck. When you received your MT Pro how did it arrive? Meaning did you have to install anything? Also how big are the tires ? High and wide? Lastly what do you think of the HPI Baja 5b 2.0 is it a good truck overall?
if you want to stop the body melting, put some aluminium tape on the inside. ive had the same problem before when i had my revo. put a tuned pipe from a savage on it and the rear end warped. put some aluminum tape and it stopped it from getting any worse.
As for your heat problem with the pipe, Losi makes a heat shield tape that you put on your body to protect the shell heat. Look up Losi How-To: Preparing Your RC Body for Hot Weather.
Just ordered my MT Pro. What make of paint did you use on the body ? Is the body a Lexan plastic? Did you have to tune the engine or was it tuned already from the factory.
Really the price on these isn't all that bad, Granted yours is redcats top of the line one but a simple Rampage mt with a smaller engine is like 600 bucks. But awesome vid and yet again dude I am jealous of you and this kit.
wdf man where did ya get that?! dang ?!?! wow man wow what did ya pay for that mother?!?! thats like the baja 5t but way better. i wanna see that thing muddin. great vid man love it!!! drooling over that beast lol lets see a vs video with that and summit lol itd be funny
The 5T... because of maint issues. :( Hard to get parts, and more maint than my other 1/5th scale trucks. I still like it, but I have to work on it all the time.
I'm thinking of getting this truck, have you had any other problems with the pipe? ( Maybe a DDM Dominator Pipe would be better) If so what where the problems and have you changed the pipe? Is the MT Pro bigger than the XT version?
Before this, i pretty much never heard of redcat. I just visited their sight and noticed they had some cool looking cars. Also, they were a bit cheaper than other leading rc brands (Traxxas, Associated, hpi) Also, their 5th scales were nearly half the price than the baja 5b, and 4wd. It all sounds to good to good to be true, would you say this car is durable, and if (...when)you break it, is it easy to get parts? thanks.
you have to order from one of their dealers. LargescaleRC is a good site to use. I have gotten parts from them before. I also just make some of my own parts when I don't feel like waiting on shipping. :))
Yeah, I may have to do that, but I think I will have to do it on a new body. This one got totally warped in 5 minutes of running before I realized what was happening. lol. I'll know better next time.
I wasn't comparing, I was crushing them. rofl. There is no comparison. that was the whole point. To show how much bigger than 1/10 scale it is. The best way I could show everyone the size of this truck is by sitting it right next to - or on top of a truck they probably own. really gets the point across. :))
Yes, I have been building, tuning, and bashing RC trucks for over 20 years. It always makes me laugh when somebody that has only ever had 1 truck and has only had it for a few months swears that NO other truck will EVER be better. even though they have never had any other trucks. Sadly many guys are this way. It's a funny world out there. lol.
I have seen some ppl put that thin aluminum tape on the inside of their bodies. Especially see it on truggys where the exhaust is really close to the body. My muggy has that and I haven't had any body problems. I used some aluminum tape we have here at the shop, Actual "duct" tape for your duct work at home. Hope this helps a little.
@distilledmetal - They are every bit as loud as an MX dirt bike. (They really have a very similar engine to a dirt bike, just a bit smaller). You wouldn't want to run this in a quiet neighborhood...

Best show video by far and ive seen about 100 of them for the MT. Thanks for the display of size this thing is!
this is a monster!! jetlag congratulations! another great RC machine!
had one
had soo many problems and the body broke easily
no affence great vid!

I can't wait for my Rampage XT to arrive on Tuesday,
Thank you, I might try that although I run it a lot with the body off since the all aluminum roll cage looks so cool. :)
You can easily find this truck online at redcat racing's website. They also have a list of r/c distributors that you can buy from online.
@bluchevy01 - yeah, I actually just took it off because it doesn't seem to make much difference to the power anyway (it's got a lot of power). I may do a side pipe at some point.

That's what I thought too. $600 is about the same as a brushless Erevo. So it's not bad at all for a 1/5 size truck.
To fix the pipe heat, you could wrap it or add a thermal sleeve to keep the heat in the pipe.
that´s siicK!!! awesome vid man! thumbs up!!!
great vid, love the redcat rampage, I have the MT pro with a bunch of hop-ups and it keeps up with my e-revo and 5b. and way more durable then both. keep up the vids, oh, the song is called "check my brain" by Alice in chains, not bullet for my valentine.
awsome truck bro,im looking to buy one after watching this vid, cheers!!

Same thing happened to my MT body, but i did noticed it right away before it makes a lot of damaged. I did a body modification cut.
This is the 1st redcat model I have had, but I know a couple guys that have had their nitro trucks and they swear that they are very tuff. Only thing I have heard them complain about is that sometimes parts are tough to get.
man thanks for sharing,, that thing looks freakin sweet,, great vid as ever
wooow increible, ese si que es un monster truck, esta enorme, pero pobre summit lo aplasto horrible jejejeje, saludos jetlag esta increible tu coleccion de rc
5*
rofl. Thanks man! Glad you liked it. Yeah this truck is HUGE! It's a lot of fun to drive but it is VERY loud. It sounds like an MX dirt bike. lol. Good thing I live far out in the country.
Thanks buddy! It was a fun intro wasn't it? You can't beat monster truck mayhem. :))
FG makes great trucks man! I don't know if I could beat you, but it would be a fun contest. :)
Great review!
That thing is a BEAST!!!!!!
The manual is right. It can be anything from 33 to 45 lbs depending on what options you get. Mine does actually weigh 35 lbs empty. With a full gas tank it weighs aprox 37 lbs.
Try that heat wrap that they put on headers on race cars so they dont burn spark plug wires. That stuff should help keep the heat down .
i had that pipe and used exhaust wrap on mine....then i bought the ddm dominator pipe for mine..and i have the walbro 1107 carb....my truck runs like a bat out of hell now....i highly recomend the ddm dominator pipe
They have been around quite a while and make many good tough models. The only downside that I have seen is that parts can be hard to get sometimes.
Of course not. lol. RC trucks are made to jump 12 feet in the air and fall onto hard surfaces. A little driving over them didn't hurt anything at all. I took the body pins out so it would knock the bodies off and make it look more like there was damage, but it didn't really hurt them at all. :)
@rocketkid8353 - lol. well I just stuck the chevy bow tie on there because I like chevy.

Nice truck, the best background music ive heard in a minute
wrap the pipe in exhaust tape that's what I did on my one and has never been a problem again I also put some on the body

As for your heat problem with the pipe, Losi makes a heat shield tape that you put on your body to protect the shell heat. Look up Losi How-To: Preparing Your RC Body for Hot Weather.
the only thing we want to see now is the mini 1/16 e-revo beside that massive truck!
hey for the body melting problem you should try insulating tape and put it on the body to block the heat off the pipe
looks just as bad ass without the body. Amazing truck. Torn between this or a 5B...
Just ordered my MT Pro. What make of paint did you use on the body ? Is the body a Lexan plastic? Did you have to tune the engine or was it tuned already from the factory.
Bullet for my valentine!
Really the price on these isn't all that bad, Granted yours is redcats top of the line one but a simple Rampage mt with a smaller engine is like 600 bucks. But awesome vid and yet again dude I am jealous of you and this kit.
you can buy sticky heat sheild to stick to the inside of your shell bro , the losi and associated teams do that and it stops it from warping the body
wdf man where did ya get that?! dang ?!?! wow man wow what did ya pay for that mother?!?! thats like the baja 5t but way better. i wanna see that thing muddin. great vid man love it!!! drooling over that beast lol lets see a vs video with that and summit lol itd be funny
nice video is the rampage really worth buyen? and was the dog bones a prob or did u just get a bad one?
Well bought one last year and only thing i broke is the throttle servo that's it nothing else very strong truck in my view.
Great Review man...
I watch all your RC car videos. This one is so cool, how much was it and where did you get it???
The 5T... because of maint issues. :( Hard to get parts, and more maint than my other 1/5th scale trucks. I still like it, but I have to work on it all the time.
hey that truck is sick and all. but isnt it preffered to not have aluminum a arms or is that for like 10th scales and stuff. sick vid.
I'm thinking of getting this truck, have you had any other problems with the pipe? ( Maybe a DDM Dominator Pipe would be better) If so what where the problems and have you changed the pipe? Is the MT Pro bigger than the XT version?

I watch all your RC car videos and this one is the best. did you order offline?
hey lag, can you show a video of the humm-vee body on the slash 4x4? i need a new body and dont want the stock body or the vw body.. great truck man!
lol. I saw a guy that had a picture of one sitting on top of 4 coke cans, one for each tire. It was great, they looked so tiny. :)
nice video man. i also got a MT, but the normal version. did u did something to your shocks? your truck looks a bit more higher than my.
dare you to do a brushless conversion. ive seen a conversion of a rampage before, and it looked insane.
It's a funny world out there. lol.

I just got one used pics and video just dont give you the best representation of how big this is its defanetly a must see in person truck it's big
that truck is truly a monster!!! where did you get those paddles on the e revo at 3:30 and what are they called? Like always great editing : )
@distilledmetal - They are every bit as loud as an MX dirt bike. (They really have a very similar engine to a dirt bike, just a bit smaller). You wouldn't want to run this in a quiet neighborhood...
Rofl!! thanks for the thumbs up... and noticing the Tie die. :))
lol. he is building his from scratch.... That is WAY harder than just getting a kit like this one. Give him time, his project is AWESOME!
is this the first redcat racing rc youve had? if not can you tell me what you think of the nitro redcats. i am thinking about getting a nitro redcat i was wondering if you have heard anything good or bad about them
there is a hobby shop in Thailand that imports the OEM version of this.... I've got to say, it was the most durable out of all the Rovans and FS racings there. But still doesn't get close in durability to the King Motors Baja.
@jetlag2222 did u break anything on the smaller trucks while crushing them?
That is Hugeeeee!! Is it hard to carry around since it is 35lbs though??
is redcat all that good and love all the videos man
Thanks man!
