I guess what I personally saw at Toyota when I worked there was a super car that we were being told would be released that never really came to fruition as it morphed from the Supra project into something else. There was many years ago a Supra project in the works at TRD and it ultimately was abandoned and passed onto Lexus as I don’t think the market could handle a $200,000 Toyota but they could sell a Lexus at that price. It was really strange, it was all Toyota, it had a big v8 (if I remember correctly) and might have even been a turbo or twin turbo and looked like a refined modern version of the old Supra we all wanted but Toyota abandoned that project years ago and it kind of morphed into the LFA project. Keep in mind the car was originally only supposed to be between $86,000 - $125,000 and I think the more testing and R&D that was put into it the more the realized they couldn’t sell it as a Toyota as it just ate more and more budget, and got more and more expensive. Now I think that they have built the LFA they can do a proper Supra. The nice thing about it is Toyota doesn’t really ever bring anything sub par to market but in this case, too many hands and minds have touched this thing and it’s hard to retain the old, and our modern vision of the Supra because of this.

Without Supra, i couldn't be a master driver.
I trained my master driver ability by driving Supra a long time ago. I went to Nürburgring and together with Mr. Naruse who taught me how to drive the car.
Many car is driving more than 200 kilometers so I'm so scared. One lap is about 10 minutes, I felt like 10 minutes from now am i still alive?
At that time, Supra is no longer in production, no longer sales. All other car makers, their vehicle is the vehicle which they're going to introduce two or three years from now.
Only Toyota, only myself, is driving used car.
Today, I meet friend from long, long time ago. We are kind of separated but now we meet again.
We're back in Nürburgring for final testing of the new Supra. Toyota lovers are waiting for the supra.
I think we need a Supra story again

The 2jz was pretty much a yamaha engine, the turbos were made by hitachi, and it was super good. Lets not judge the new supra too quicklu

@@Igweadda There is enough evidence to prove Yamaha's involvement in the 1JZ and thus indirectly to the 2JZ, other than that well I assume there is not a lot out there. In any case, it's a 3 year old comment.

The BMW engine is a good one, but the Z series platform kinda sucks. I would be happier if it was based on the M2, but it still wouldn’t make most people happy because it isn’t really Toyota’s car. Toyoda is doing all he can to get a Supra into production, and without him Toyota probably wouldn’t be selling the GT86 either. We may even stop seeing the V6 camry soon.

Mr Toyoda if you really cared about a Supra story you would design your own engine and transmission rather than getting BMW involved .
The whole supra thing is just a nostalgia cash cow .

joel aldridge If you worked at Toyota Corporate like I have you’d know why this is. Toyota made, a long time ago now a deal with BMW to trade hybrid technology for performance information. Somewhere along the line Toyota fell behind when it came to performance technology hence the relationship with BMW. Collaboration in the auto industry is the way of the world now, why do you think so many cars look alike. It also saves the consumer money, if Toyota spent all their dollars on their own R&D without collaboration the car would be twice the price. This will still be a 100% TOYOTA. I know this because I’ve owned more new BMWs and Lexus than anyone I know and the Lexus IS350 AWD F Sport handles better than the 3 series. So don’t worry the Supra won’t be mushy and soft like the new BMWs, it will be a firm true sports car ride and be a real Toyota.

@@thegolflife7565 I appreciate that the car industry has a heavy bias towards having collaborations with other car companys to make cars more profitable , But im afraid i cant take Mr Toyoda standing there talking about bringing back an old friend and being all nostalgic when he hasnt created a pure supra .
I think its complete rubbish that a brand that has all the choice of engines from Lexus that they couldnt of turbo charged a V6 from a lexus range , It is not a true toyota in my opinion and never will be .

You'd have also known he didn't want them to enter the Nürburgring to compete to win, rather for honing and testing. The Nürburgring is a difficult track, placing 4th is not a loss, especially when there are over 200 entrants.
