I eat sweet potatoes fries as a replacement of chips (🇬🇧) with chicken and load of salads, I have tested myself for many years and I’m yet to get a spike two hrs after eating. I place my sweet potatoes fries in an air fryer with no oil, I eat a small - medium portion. Thanks for sharing Doc
Thank you Doctor. We have always fantastic information from you about friendly for diabetics food.. great! I love sweet potatoes but I was afraid to eat them because of my blood sugar level
Thanks for the information concerning how to cook sweet potatoes and which varieties are best for diabetics. I'm going to give this a try, because I love sweet potatoes!
I usually cook sweet potatoes by wetting them, wrapping them in plastic wrap and microwaving for about 8 minutes, then eating them with butter and a lot of cinnamon.
Thanks for this information. I've been baking them. Will steaming reduce the GI as much as boiling? I don't want to lose nutrients into the boiling water
I rarely eat potatoes (once every year to two years), but when I do it's sweet potatoes. What I do is skin them, cube them in about 1 1/2" pieces and steam them. That locks in the flavor best. Take it easy.
As soon as my ship comes in I'm making an appt to see you on evaluation of my Type2 Diabetes! I'm looking forward to seeing you and discussing this and I'll thoroughly enjoy your videos. So roasting and baking is not recommended, boiling is preferred. But what about steaming and microwaving ? Edit: Different varieties eh. Hmmm... our stores only ever seem to offer "sweet potatoes", no further info. Wonder which variety is common in the UK.
@@darlenericotta I was hoping that the Doc may have expanded on the issue, but in the meanwhile I searched the Net and I get the impression that it is the length of cooking time that is the main factor. So the quicker the better, and so microwaving must be a good choice. However there seemed to be confusion as to whether cooling and then reheating was beneficial or detrimental to the GI value. But in any case, no info on chips (Am. fries) 😁
I used eat sweet potatoes regularly, but now I don’t understand how sweet potatoes help manage diabetes. Every time I eat just a small chunk of boiled sweet potatoes, glucose spikes high nearly like some fruits.
If you had not talked about all these things when I take these pills, my sugar is down it is in the 200s and it goes down I would say on the whole about 135 to on down been as low as 88! Usually hangs around 125 to 135 occasionally 150 that's a far cry from being up in the 200s
Or, don't eat them. Turnip and even rutebaga would be better options. Sweet potatoes are not low glycemic index. They're just lower than white potatoes. There's no such thing as a super food. I only bake them in the oven, little butter and cinnamon on them. No sugar. Love them that way.

Does steaming give the same result as boiling?
You need to boil
hm... wonder if I boil them for 30 ' what kind of vitamins might left intact...🙊
Thanks dok
I steam my sweet potatoes in the microwave for 6min. I usually have only half a potato. Just put it in a bowl with water and a lid.
What about pressure cooking sweet potato
@mrwhisky4847 Pressure cooking is a great way to cook sweet potatoes while maintaining nutrients! Just be mindful of portion sizes.
I can't give up my baked sweet potato, I just eat half
What about caned yams 🍠
Hi again Dr. E. I forgot to include the scenario of microwaving the sweet potato, freezing, and reheating it; will it then become a resistant starch?
Thanks for the question. You may find the answer here, please check this out ruclips.net/video/0DgpFqNvYDs/видео.html
What about steaming them??
sweet potato is good fro diabetoc but is it good for kidney disease?
Is leeching the sweet potatoes overnight is a good idea
Can I take berberine if I'm 31 weeks pregnant and diagnosed with gestational diabetes?
Love sweet potatoes
So its better t boil it for 8 or 22 minutes ???
I had a half of a baked sweet potato with my dinner. I let it rest and cool for an hour before I ate it.
Won't the nutrients of the the sweet potatoes leech into the water when boiling ?
I love them❤

Im eating boiled sweet potatoes as of this moment while watching this vid
Can I boil it in microwave
You mention eating the skin of the Sweet potato. I eat the skin of white potatoes, I have never heard of anyone eating the shin of a Sweet potato.
Me neither 😊
Is there any difference between white potatoes, red or purple potatoes or do all of them raise sugar?
White potatoes definitely not recommended 😕
I bake them then cool then reheat. Also eating them with a protein and a sprinkle of cinnamon slows absorption of glucose, right? 😋 👌
Sounds delicious!
Can we eat raw sweet potatoes ?
Yes, eat them raw as part of a raw vegan diet but you have to soak them at least 24 hours prior to get rid of the poison.
Hi Dr. E. Does the sweet potato convert to resistant starch if baked, frozen, and reheated?
Thanks for the question. You may find the answer here, please check this outruclips.net/video/bEO7sqKywZ0/видео.html

That’s simply not true and overly simplified. Only a chiropractor talks like that or people who learn from them.

Potato can be use in border sugar or not dr
