  • In this episode of TFBTV, James Reeves is at IWA 2023 at the Spohr booth speaking with Thomas Spohr, the founder of Spohr revolvers. Spohr started working on tuning Smith & Wesson revolvers before deciding to make his own wheelguns. These are top of the line, premium German handguns. Spohr has introduced a 3" version of his revolvers which he refers to as the "Club Edition," and it is specifically made for the US carry market.

      I do understand but. Well I got a certain revolver made here the first or second year they started doing DA revolvers it's like a fine watch on the inside. Although outside it looks like it's been abused like a South Central pit bull. But really the company that made it has gone to shiite. Mostly cast and MIM parts And hat US company is pushing a grand or more for new revolver models.
      So for me a new revolver would be something I save for. And look to Europe to buy from

      If you live in the US yes you can, it’s a matter of priorities. Plenty of people on minimum wage could buy it with their yearly Starbucks budget, bringing a sack lunch to work instead of eating out or getting from the vending machine is another way many people could save. There’s also the simple matter of striving for more and not just accepting your current position and going to look for what your worth. Remember your only worth as much as your willing to risk and put forth the matching effort. I’m a high school dropout and I’ve got a collection of firearms, every job I’ve had I left when I found a new one that paid more and I’m about to make another change for the same reason.

    I would consider it another high end brand joining Korth and Manurhin. Korth is doing something extremely similar with the push-button interchangeable cylinders.
    Working in manufacturing, I know how expensive high grade steels are, how expensive post-machining heat treating can be, how expensive precise EDM cuts in triggers and hammers like this can be. Not to mention the polishing and finishing and fitting of everything to get a rather complex small machine like this to meet tolerance and function almost exactly the same from one model to the next. Lots of overhead costs involved in processing and lots of very expensive equipment involved in verification of metals and tolerances with a QC department. Tons of documentation. It's not inexpensive especially for a smaller specialized company.

      Still getting? There has never been a decrease in demand in the U.S arms market for revolvers, nor has there been a decrease in supply from both domestic makers and foreign imports. I don't get why you worded your comment the way you did.

    • @smartacus88
      @smartacus88 Год назад

      @@hatchetwound666 The revolver market has remained the same since the mid 1990's in regards to civilian demand in the U.S. I never said autoloaders didn't own the lions share of the market, of course they do, but since police agencies across the nation finished the transition to autoloaders in the 1990's the civilian market has remained stable for revolvers. And pal, there is nothing new about this revolver in regards to it's basic operation and design. It functions off the same principles that damn near every other DA/SA revolver has for 120+ years. The last commercially-produced revolver that brought any real innovation to the table that I can think of was the Chiappa Rhino. Colt quit producing revolvers when they did because of internal financial issues within the company, not because of a decrease in demand. Ruger, Charter Arms, NAA, and Smith & Wesson continue to develop new models almost yearly. Kimber introduced a revolver line years ago that has done well. Taurus, RIA, EAA, Beretta, Uberti, Pietta, and others ALL import revolvers with strong sells. 38 Special/357Mag is domestically produced in higher amounts than any autoloading cartridge except 9x19. More 38 Special alone is sold in the U.S than 40S&W and 45ACP combined. You're just a kid that doesn't know his ass from a hole in the ground.

    What a beautiful wheelgun. I'm more of a traditionalist when it comes to looks (smooth lines with no rails, and partial underlugs please), but I have to admit that these have a style all their own, and all forged parts plus hot-swappable cylinders are big pluses. The 3" barrel is the perfect size for carry while still maintaining some semblance of sight radius and muzzle velocity. It's always a joy to see a new offering in the revolver market. Thanks for showing this off, and here's hoping Spohr does well stateside. Also those grips were nice enough looking for what it's worth - Mr. Spohr did well!

      I'd wager the double action is better for sure, spohr's are essentially S&W 686's made as well as one can feasibly make them and i'd rate the S&W style double action over korth's any day of the week
      at least going by the reference of my own '82 korth ratzeburg sport .357 at least, not sure if the modern korths have improved the double action at all (mine is incredibly smooth but the pull is such that it is incredibly hard to keep sights on target since all the weight basically concentrates in the middle of the travel after which minimal pressure increase will rocket the trigger to the break and you end up throwing off your aim because of it)
      i plan on getting one of these spohr/club 30 revolvers one day once my budget allows it, right now it has to recover until at least 2025 because (unsurprisingly) buying a korth and a manurhin ontop of another bunch of other guns takes a big fuckin chunk out of multiple years of it

    With all the 7 & 8 shot revolvers out there now days maybe that should become the new standard in the 9mm/38spl/357mag calibers. I understand the big bore stuff needs to have fewer because of the size. I love me Smith and Wesson model 327 in 357mag/38spl. 8-shots plus moon clips so fast unload and reloads too. I'm considering the new M&P R8 that came out. Who ever said 38spl/357mag was dead is very wrong it's just as strong today with all the new shooters coming out. It is the best to learn on if your a first timers with firearms.

      I'm not sure why, but a lot of the Club 30 revolvers (they usually do high-end mods of S&W I think) use polygon barrels. I'm not sure if it has to do with .357/9x19 compatibility or if they can actually make the polygon barrels more precise. Usually bulls-eye target guns don't feature polygon barrels, I still haven't found out why Club30 is so into polygon barrels. But they seem to work very well as bullseye target guns.
