When it comes to the gun I keep next to my bed for home defense, there are a few key things I'm looking for.
Reliability, shoot-ability, capacity, accessory modularity, and nightstand appeal, which is a fancy way of saying, look good on my nightstand.
I'm tactically vain; sue me.
For the past few months, I've contemplated moving to a 9mm for home defense mainly for capacity, but I'll address why in detail in another video.
Here are the top 5 9mm handguns I'm considering for my bedside home defense gun.
However, as important as the type of gun is when it comes to home defense, it's also about the training and ensuring you're prepared.
That's why I'm a USCCA member.
It's an easy way to cover all my bases if I ever had to use my gun in self-defense.
I could find myself in a costly legal case to prove that me using my gun was justified.
The beautiful thing about a USCCA membership is that you don't just get self-defense insurance; you also get access to their treasure trove of education and training programs.

I only have one 9mm for home defense. The salesman told me that my model will blow the lung right out of body. Easiest purchase ever!
Which one?
😂😂😂 just like Biden’s ?
😂😂
😂😂😂😂😂
Doesnt matter, any 9mm FJB said will blow it out. Why not take the advice of someone who falls off a bike and is very qualified to SAY what a handgun can do.

@@thebobbydrake6 ion even know the prices of these guns only the PDP which like $650-$700 but a quick google search and you can find the prices.
The fact that a $600 Walther PDP is on a list with other guns in the 2K+ range says something about how good it is.
I’ve seen 509s as low as 749 on sale. However 90% of the time they’ll be 900+

@@jim6532 You must have great wealth. I own a $100 dollar revolver and surely not my first choice.
I agree on the safety issue that's literally the 1st thing I was taught make sure safe is always on until your ready to fire should be mandatory
Just got my FOID, and I’ve been watching your videos to learn more about guns and gun safety. Gonna take a class soon at the nearest shooting range. Thanks Colion for your content! Very helpful!
Step one: move out of Illinois! 🤣🤣 or any state that requires it's citizens to have a permission slip not just to carry but merely to purchase and possess firearms. Totally unconstitutional legislations.
509T is what I have for nightstand home defense. Used it during several courses with CETSUSA and has zero errors and it runs like a dream. 10/10 my favorite handgun.
Have you ever had issues with the striker breaking?
My favorite handgun I love to carry and shoot is the Beretta PX4 9mm Storm Compact. 15+1, DA/SA, with the rotating barrel with iron sights, getting back on target is exceptional with very little muzzle flip. 50 cent coin groups at 25 yards.
Colion! Thank you for your review (commentary and action video footage) of some of your favorite bedside table 9mm handguns. I continue to enjoy and benefit from you and your channel. I can't thank you enough for all you do!
Anyone looking for a bedside gun, you'd be doing yourself a disservice to not look at the CZ P10f. 19 round mags, excellent ergonomics and trigger, so nice to shoot. My nightstand gun switches between the 19x and the standard 509, but my wife has a p10 and it's a gem. So underrated
I have a P10C and I love it.
@@AbazabaA6 easily one of the best polymer guns I've ever shot. They also make one in 45acp but it is extremely hard to find in the states
Glock 45 is a better 19x. Should trade in the 19x for a 45 100% 👍🏻. I am looking to get a CZ p07 as my second handgun. Amazing CCW because of its DA/SA as well as optional manual safety
I've got mine on my nightstand with the factory 21 round mag. Love it!
Had a p10F that failed woth a broke guided rod in less than 200 round . A p07 that would jam all the time . Get a Glock if it for you’re life .
Great content man keep up the awesome work we love what you do!
I am a Big Fan of Manual Safeties. I agree with you about the Peace of Mind they bring.
Absolutely love my PDP. Not only is it my bedside gun it's my everyday carry piece. Love the 407c red dot on it.

Such a great list! Sadly, non of them are compliant to my state's depleted list of life saving and home defending tools. You can probably guess what state that is. Though I cannot own one of these great feats of machining perfection, it is obvious that if they made Colion's list, they should definitely make your's as well. I look forward to the day I'm able to be a fully compliant and responsible owner of any one or all on this list of beautifully machined tools. Don't move to California if you're an aspiring collector of such wonderful displays of manufacturing perfection. Safety above all, and happy shooting to you all!

For me, it’s my Gen 4 Glock 17 that has been cut for a Holosun 508T and front cocking serrations. Professional stipple and undercut job. ZEV duty trigger. Suppressor heigh night sights. Streamlight TRL1HL. It’s not my fanciest or most expensive handgun but I have thousands or rounds in training classes, practice, and competition through it so it’s what I’m most comfortable with and trust. With the +2 baseplate, I get 20 rounds of 124gr +P HST. Before all the work, it was my duty gun so there is a little sentimental value there too.
The X5 Legion is my nightstand gun. She’s outfitted with the Delta point pro and a surefire X300 as well as the Taran Tactical +5 mag plate. Everything you need and more! Shot almost every type of ammo out of it and not a single malfunction with about 1200 rounds or so through it.
i use my M&P compact 4" for edc and home defense. love the fact that i can throw in a 15 rd mag and carry it everywhere, then swap in the 17 rd mag to have it by my bedside. i also have an MCK for it which always has an extra 30 rd mag in it ready to go.
I too carry my M2.0 4" for edc and home defense. Look into floyds custom magwell with their +2 flush baseplates. The magwell give a great grip and the baseplates allow you to turn the stock 15 rd mags into 17 rds without sacrificing concealabilitly.
I used to make the staccato p triggers at my old job and it's always so cool hearing how much people like it. Pumping out thousands of them a week made me desensitized to just how nice they are but before I left I had to grab a defective one and throw it on my key chain. Anyhow great video keep up the content.
Pretty cool I would never know what it’s like working at a gun company
I have my p320x5 in my drawer by my bed it’s a hell of an accurate gun love it
Im sticking with my FNX 45 tactical. 16 rounds of 45acp is so so beautiful. Of course its a backup to my AR pistol.
That bad boy is damn near a crew served weapon! BEAST!
Why 45 acp? Because shooting twice is stupid! I love a good 45!
Hk VP9 is mine. Have the hkpartsnet compensator with a light and a red dot on it and I can hit an 8 inch metal plate at 30 yards with every single shot. I can't do that with any of my other pistols. Absolutely love it and wouldn't want any other bedside pistol.
ive found the VP9 with a red dot is ridiculously accurate
@@nickparkison977 I consider myself an average shooter, I am by no means an expert marksman but like you said, VP9 with a red dot, I almost feel I could do shooting competitions.
@@Auxik same here, the trigger is wicked and ergonomics can't be beat from what I've tried
same here, love that gun just ordered a larger mag (only have 17s) and have light and red dot on it also
Have you ever shot a p2000?
I use my fnx 45 tactical with a tlr1hd and red dot. Love this weapon system it has been such a blessing ❤️
Had my eye on a PDP for awhile and this just about sold me on it. I'm also a lefty, so the fact it's ambidextrous is a huge plus!
I have used the Browning Hi-Power for over 20 years. It is the only pistol I will use. I have Acromegaly, which has deformed my hands a great deal. Also, it has caused arthritis and carpal tunnel in both hands. This makes many modern pistons difficult for me to use, because of the grips they come with. All that said, the Browning has always fit my hand like a glove. I like the single action of it. Only drawback is the magazine safety. That is something I guess I am just too stubborn to worry about, based on all the pluses with the pistol.
The P320 with the Wilson Combat frame is easily my favorite handgun I’ve shot.
I own a Ruger 9 mm, NEVER had a problem, fits my humungus giant hand, and the kick, well there practically is none. Oh , never had a jam, and it’s so easy to clean. Love it , thanks Ruger!
Night Stand gun is always the m9a1 compact with Wilson combat #12 hammer spring. Love the thing. Always shoots like butter never any issues
All of them are excellent picks but that Staccato...is Surgical!👍💥
I personally use the PDP as my nightstand home defense and absolutely love it. If you can’t afford a $2k price tag the PDP is absolutely the way to go. For $650 you get everything you need to protect yourself and more. It functions amazingly, you will absolutely love taking it to the range with you for some fun. I have around 1000 rounds in mind and haven’t had a single issue
I use my PDP for the same purpose. Probably have roughly 400rds through it.
Same
I’m torn between the Walter PDP full and the Sig p320 full, I like them both.
Not in California it’s about $1500 and up!
*HK MP5/MP5K* - Sling ready, longer sight radius, accessory (lights, laser, red dot, etc) ready, suppressor mount, 30rd mags, low felt recoil, retractable stock/brace.
I live in an area with security and closed off walls but there's still a bunch of houses and you never now who might be living in them. I'm a new gun owner with a Glock 19 Gen 5 and I absolutely love the looks, the feel and most importantly how it makes me feel when I'm carrying it outside the house, I'm a bit thin so it's a bit hard to get used to but after a few minutes you forget about it. I don't have a bedside gun to pull up in a moments notice but I do have it in a safe right in front of my bed always accessible with a 6 digit code that I'll never ever forget that is made to be input with a quick flow that prevents mistakes even in a stressful situation. I was planning to buy a Savage 110 Elite precision in 338 lapua as it's gorgeous and feels mean and a Remington shotgun in 12 gauge. I also keep 2 magazines always loaded with hollowpoints and the boxes with FMJ and more Hollowpoints are accessible too.
I used my fnx 45 as my bedside gun for a year or so. Switched to the 509 tac about 6 months ago.
I use my main competition pistol for home defense. CZ shadow 2 Orange edition. With Lok grips and a light. Thousands of rounds with no malfunctions. Great trigger and is the flattest firing, lowest felt recoil pistol I’ve ever shot. I haven’t shot everything of course but if there is a pistol that out performs it in those areas it’s not by much. I have a slide with optic cuts but I don’t use it. It feels great and shoots amazing without having to pay 2011 prices.
🙏 Amen brother
I think you should consider the CZ P10F, 19 round stock mags with a plus 5 extension and one in the pipe you now have 25 rounds at your disposal in a great shooting gun. Oh and I forgot to mention you can buy it optic and suppressor ready.
ugly garbage guns. get you an m&p 2.0 full size for home and compact for carry. m&p shield 2.0 or plus if you need deep concealment
@@cagneybillingsley2165 if you think the CZ p10f is ugly and a garbage gun I really want to know what you think hi point is
Edit: changed a word
@@cagneybillingsley2165 My boy the M&P's are garbage guns with probably the worst striker fired triggers on the market. The only good thing about it is the ergos are pretty good.
M&P’s are reliable as anything else but ugly af.
@@cagneybillingsley2165 P10 series is light years ahead of whole M&P series. I won't even go into Shadow 1/2,TSO argument because they are cheat code pistols. Only pistols that I think can run side by side with them are high end 2011s
Very nice list, in having a tough time making a choice cause the list is so good
I'm loving my cannick tp9 sf elite. No malfunction yet and the trigger is amazing
Beautiful guns , would love to see a budget list of reliable 9mm defense guns.
Springfield xd9 service model with several spare mags always at the ready whether I'm home or out. Had one for years and it's never let me down.
I just picked up my xd9 , can’t wait to hit the range, been practicing malfunction drills with dummy rounds
@jonathan aldana it's good to practice malfunction drills but simply put, my xd9 has never malfunctioned in three years I've carried it. My xd45 I had before was the same way. I carried both, practice(d) with both weekly and neither has malfunctioned. My xd9 plus 2 spare mags is still my standard daily carry.
@@vetsunite very nice 👍🏼 Is there any accessories/attachments you would recommend I throw on my XD?
@jonathan aldana mine is bone stock except for a polish job the smooth the trigger. I am thinking about tritium sights since I'm getting older and every bit helps. Lol. Other than that, a good light on it if you want. I use a separate flashlight because of how I was trained.
Thank You! Your videos to me watch like Documentaries for the guns and attachments you discuss. Great info and Perspectives.
Wow...What a coincidence.
I am currently looking to buy a new 9mm. My list: 1) FN 509 Midsize, 2) Walther PDP, Compact 4", 3) Sig P320, and 4) HK VP9. So, I am thrilled to learn that three of my guns are on your list!
Now I am looking at the "compact" sizes (not micro). I want the 4" in barrel and longer grip for sure. I have HUGE hands. All of my handguns (14 and counting) are full size weapons. This will be my first "compact."
I have pretty much decided to go with either the PDP Compact 4" or the FN 509 Midsize. Your video is most reassuring. Thanks!!!
I love my 2011 Staccato C2 9mm . I'm 73 , started hunting at 12 everything I grew up with had safety's so I'm 100 % ok with them
I knew I would see my fave Sig Sauer P320 😊 Really really fits me and I’ve tested its reliability overtime. Impressive gun
This is my absolute favorite gun, too!
I know I love my p320x5
Ew, can't stand that thing.
I use and love the PDP compact 4" as my EDC and Night Stand gun. I added the night sights too it, and will eventually get a light and green dot for it. However, the iron sights work perfect for now.
Beretta PX4 is mine. Large, battle/service proven, physical safety, lower rail for light/laser. Might move to the M&P Shield 2.0 in the future as it's made it to the ccw rotation, but for now you really can't beat how easy it is to shoot... especially if something goes bump in the night.
I'm also a HUGE fan of the Glock 19X I have it with me no matter where I am in the cabin.
GLOCK model 45 - 9mm for me
@@Asidebar I love my G45 too
I love my 19x! The g45 is the same, minus the tab that doesn't allow gen5 mags, and it black instead of coyote. Lol
That gen5 trigger works so well, best purchase for me
I went from a Kimber 45 to a PX4 Storm 9mm. I liked them so much I bought the sub compact, compact and full size. When I wanted to conceal carry I found them too bulky so I got a Sig P938 SAS. It shot better than the full size Barretta so its my bedside and every day carry. Its only downside is the 7 rd mag.
I had a Kimber .45 and it was not anywhere near what I expected. No comparison to my SR1911 from good old ruger. The barrel split on the Kimber after less than 100 rounds. FJB and Kimber too.
@@mortvid LOL! Thank you for the laugh, sir!
This video looks like the start of a series, looking forward to the future content
I have my Springfield XD9, love the grip safety.
That PDP, the Zev, and the Staccato are great options!
The 509 is underwhelming and I don't know why the X-Five is even in consideration by comparison.
The LTT 92 Beretta or the CZ Shadow 2 could boot those 2 off the list.
There's so many quality firearms out there it's hard to go wrong.i like my sig but also my trusty 12ga for home defense....might have to get another gun lol
FN FNX 45 gives you 16 + 1 capacity 45acp. Single / double action, bilateral safeties, slide lock, and mag release. The tactical model lets you mount red dot and has threaded barrel for suppressors. No compromises.
I’m happy to stick with 45 for my bedside gun - Walther PPQ 45 SD specifically. Shoots brilliantly like the PDP and has a threaded barrel to take a suppressor. +3 extensions are available to give you 15+1 capacity and no need to get special subsonic ammo because it’s naturally subsonic already. The only downside is no red dot cut on the slide, but there is a company that makes a base plate to replace the rear sight with a red dot mount. Best of all, it’s ~$400 less than the FNX45 Tactical and ~half the price of a USP 45 Tactical
This is why I went with a Glock 17 for my home defense/ SHTF pistol. Ample after market parts (including cheap spare mags), combat proven reliability, great mag capacity. And the Gen 3 I bought was fairly inexpensive, so if it gets locked up as evidence for months after a self defense encounter, I can easily replace it.
I've had a Glock 17 gen 2.5 on/near the bed since about 1990.
My other bedside gun is a Mossberg 500, but it doesn't fit on the nightstand very well.
or the 19… ✔️
2 is 1 ... 1 is none.
PSA has 80 gen3 g19 kits, 2 mags, $300.00.
Glock is always a safe choice for someone who wants reliability 1st and no bells and whistles..
It's ultimately splitting hairs, but I do like a DA/SA gun like a P226,CZ75, Beretta 92, etc for a nightstand gun because I think If you're awakened in the middle of the night, having that double action trigger as you reach for your gun is a benefit, not a hinderance.
Best thing though is to have the handgun to buy you enough time to get to your rifle lol.
Love my sig..great to hear Colion mention it
I just purchased my first pistol, a smith and Wesson SD9 9 millimeter. For my first weapon I really like the full size it has and I like that it has grooves on the side for your trigger finger
My home defense handgun is a full size Smith&Wesson M&P9 2.0 with 4,25 barrel and flush 17round magazines. Shoots great. An awesome severely underrated overlooked amazing reliable gun . It has never malfunctioned and can easily shoot Russian steel case ammo with no issues.
I want one in FDE with the extended slide and 4.75" barrel! Such a sweet gun, if I can't get that I'll get a Canik TP9SF and if that don't come through maybe a Taurus G3 tacticool
M and P 2.0 and any pro series or performance center model work's very nicely.
I got mine in 22cal. I no it's a 22 but I would want to be shot by anything coming out of a smith and wesson lol obviously is not loud or won't go through walls or even the post on a staircase 🤫
Stay safe ✌🏾
@@IBENOUTMYMIND Never underestimate a 22 especially a m and p 22 compact. They are reliable and one of the best 22's that can be had.

P320 is my everything firearm. can't recommend it enough. the customization of the platform is incredible.

I have the P320 for both carry and nightstand .
Yep love my p320 x5 such an awesome gun put thousands of rounds through it still runs like butter
I’m considering getting a P320 for conceal carry. I’ve shot it only once at the range, and I loved it. Such a great gun.
@@howardbaxter2514 it will perform well. Only 2 things to consider, for a concealed carry is that they are a little bit wider than most but I carry a P229 regularly and a good model might be a M18 (4in barrel and full size grip w/2X 21 round extended and 1X 17 round flush fit mags along with optics cut and night sights).
love the slowmo boom sound
I love the vids man and as a new gun owner I try to educate myself as much as possible thank you 🙏
Staccato, PDP, M&P in 10mm but , CZ 10f threaded barrel red dot , w/light omega 9K noses out the others in my collection
Great review
M&P 10mm 👍
If I could pick one from this list.. I'd want the PDP. Never had a Walther but I know its good stuff.
Great content brother! Super rad production value! You’re on fire! Keep it up! Love the slow mo shots
I absolutely love my PDP, I keep it right next to my bed every night. It has such a amazing pistol grip serration.
Beretta PX4 Storm, by design a replacement for the 92 outperforming the sig in military trials despite losing the contract.
A lot of folks say it's ugly but I'm a man that likes curves, especially when they serve a function.
I've shot alot of pistols but none does the magic of the storm when it comes to making a 9mm feel like a .22
I have it in .40 cal.
P226 is hard to beat on a nightstand. You get extra piece of mind with the double action trigger, 18+1 flush fits from Mec-Gar, and famous reliability.
I sleep like a baby at night knowing my P226 tacops is right there on the nightstand, 20 rounds at the ready.
I got one for myself as a bday gift and ditched my G19 lol. Now all I want is hammer fired 🤣🤣
CZ P10F FDE has night sights, 19+1 capacity out of the box and is available in suppressor ready versions Has been my go-to night stand gun for a few years now.
FN 509 Tactical for the win. I love it. It has everything you can possibly need in a duty sized pistol.
My favorite 9mm for a "nightstand" gun is the 19x, but no handgun inspires as much confidence as my PS90 being leaned up against the nightstand.
I keep my Bushmaster AR and my Mossberg 590A1 right by my bed with my three pistols. My house is four stories. Good luck making it to the fourth floor.
@@Peppersquads EXACTLY LOL🤣🤣👍👍🤷♂️ I LOVE THE 17......19X AND G45 ARE JUST A "TREND" TO ME 😆 🤣

Great choices all around, I've sure. I'm shot the Staccato P, and the Walther PDP. Both great shooters. However, my CZ 75 SP01 sits on my night stand.
I absolutely adore my SP01. Alas she’s a safe queen and my bump in the night gun is a suppressed 300blk
Great choice!
Man this video editing is stunning. And the firearms you have on this list are badass and clean. Thank you for your knowledge and information on all of them. Keep it up, appreciate your videos. I’m currently working on getting a 1911 for range/at home defense. My carry is the p365 12+1 coyote tan. Along side my Glock 19 gen 5. Would like to learn from you along with spitting brass. Have a great year, stay heathy and safe in this wild world we are in at this time.
For me, the USP Compact 9mm is a stand out. It just fits right and has never failed.
*RUGER LCR, BERETTA M9A4*
A Ruger LCR (best in 9mm or .38 Special IMO) is great for jacket/vest/bathrobe pockets when walking around the home and surrounds and might be all you want for a bedside home defense gun. Also a lot easier to conceal these small handguns around the home than a big handgun like the HK45. If one wants a versatile self-loading pistol that offers firepower and the ability to mount a white light, laser, RDS and silencer there can be only one choice IMO. Namely the silencer ready Beretta M9A4. This 9mm handgun also makes a vastly better impact weapon than any polymer frame pistol, while the metal frame prevents twisting if a heavy light/laser is fitted (a problem with some polymer frame pistols which lack a metal insert to make them stiffer). Also safer to carry than striker fired pistols that lack a safety catch thanks to the DA mechanism that results in a longer and heavier trigger pull for the first shot. A supremely versatile self-loading pistol. I prefer the decock only Centurion variant with the shorter slide/barrel.
💯
Great selection (and collection) of guns. The only place where we differ is for and EDC or nightstand gun, I don't want to fumble with a safety, even training with muscle memory. I don't mind a 1911 grip safety, because it's a no-brainer, but still functions as a safety moving it in and out of my holster.
I use a Sig M18 with a manual safety and its so streamline that its impossible to not ride the safety as you shoot. Within a hour of shooting it the first time, you get so use to engaging and disengaging outta the holster its completely subconscious. I've fired about maybe 300 rounds maybe and my draw and shot is about 2.5seconds roughly. I only dry fire about a hour total a week. Sure no safety is easiest, but its so negligible its not a good reason not to get a manual safety.
I went with the HK VP9 Tactical for my 9mm bedside. Red dot and 17 or 20 round magazines. Suppressor height night sights and a threaded barrel if I want to suppress it.
Good video…my home night stand pistol is the CZ P-07 Awesome gun right out of the box..
I keep a 19x on my nightstand, mostly for it’s capacity. Have the Sig M17 & M18, but the 19x feels better for being quick on target. Love my CZ P10C, my favorite pistol, Just needs more capacity for the night stand.
Damn son, 16 will get it done lol... I also have a couple 19 round mags for mine
@@RepentorPerish77 16 will for sure, I guess 20 is just a personal confidence builder! lol
I'm sure the Canik Mete SFX will be on the budget friendly list. I keep the match grade barrel model by my bedside.

Love your videos. I have learned so much. Thank you.
My nightstand gun is a Glock 22 and in between that and my bed is a bullpup style 12 gauge. I’m a huge advocate of 12 gauge for home defense.
Springfield operator in .45 with a beretta 1301 tactical in between the bed and stand. Pistol for tge "o shit i woke up and your in my bedroom" 1301 tactical for hearing a bump in the night.
@@raynerussell7998 exactly lmfao same here brother
@@raynerussell7998 idk why that made me literally laugh out loud lol
Springfield XDM Elite 5.25" is my bedside gun. Love it! I put a PRP trigger in it and it made it even better. 23 rounds.
I have the same gun by my Bed.
Same
I went with a Beretta M9A4 in FDE. I had a 96a1 for years but wanted a 9mm, love both guns. both are paper weights but great bedside guns.
Love the PDP, feel very confident with this at the bedside.
I went with the beretta m9 clone the girsan regard for my night stand gun. Design is a battle and time tested platform, holds 18+1 came with a red dot that is designed to be on 24/7, suppressor height sights in case the red dot fails or dies and the quality is absolutely top notch all for about 500 bucks. All I had to do was add an light/laser combo that I can charge on my night stand without removing it from the pistol. Perfect night stand gun I'm my opinion.
Why not the 92x?
@@duacot6633 I stumbled across some videos on the girsan and kept hearing how they thought the girsan was actually better than the beretta. I've never shot a beretta 92 so I can't give a personal opinion on the comparison.I just rolled the dice on the girsan based on all the great reviews and the price was right lol
@@bird289 I have heard they are good, but I have never heard anyone say they are better than Berreta.
@@PilotTed Well like I said, I've never shot the beretta so I can't speak on it.
Hey man, I recently got the Regard with red dot also, but I've been second guessing myself. Only dry fire so far to keep it new looking in case I sell it. The trigger pull is just heavy as hell. You do anything to lighten yours?
I absolutely love my PDP. It is so accurate and comfortable. I put a holosun 508t on it and I feel like I'm cheating... 🤘
Mine is a total machine! Laser accurate and 100% reliable.
Gotta love Walthers. The first time I shot mine I felt like I had a custom gun made just for my hands and the trigger breaks smoothly exactly where I want it to and resets the same. It's like finding a car where the drink holders don't block the radio and the arm rest is just the right height.
@@187manowar so comfortable for me too. Lol I thought it was made just for me also! 🤘
@@stonefree1911 right on! 👍
I got the 4.5 full size and it's perfect for me.
I have the PPX. It has the typically amazing Walther trigger, it's a great shooter, and I love the pistol. However, it suffers from a common Walther curse. Once a model goes out of production, according to Walther, it's as if it never existed. Good luck finding holsters, spare mags, replacement parts, or even a cross-reference guide to let you know which new model parts work in your discontinued model. It's a really shitty and easily solved customer service problem and, considering the excellent firearms the company makes, you'd think they'd have solved it by now..
I like my Sig P226 with great night sights.
Night sights are great for knowing exactly where you are pointing the gun in the dark.
Always enjoy your vids.
What about the VP9 Tactical . It's an awesome choice
Exactly. Some brands may have paid for reviews while some may not.
Now granted I'm bias towards sig bc I live in New England but definitely go with the 320 I have the m17 with the axg full metal frame in black with tan grips. The weight of the sig just holds on target shooting the 9mm
365XL because I carry it almost everyday.
Looking to add a trijicon RMRcc when I have the $
Walther Q5 polymer with TLR-1 HL and the tartan tactical 20 round mag extension. I’m so accurate with it. I actually carry it also. Love it so much I didn’t even see the need to grab the PDP.
Colin I love that you made note of the muzzle brake on the Staccato P... I can tell you from personal experience that a Brake on a pistol makes it EXTREMELY LOUD to the shooter, especially considering that you won't have hearing protection on and will be indoors. The rest of the choices are great and AS ALWAYS you make amazing content!
If I got enough time to not have to shoot while laying in bed half awake and immediately reach for the nightstand to grab my pistol while the bad guys are rushing inside my bedroom, I have enough time to throw on my electronic ears. Keep them right beside nightstand firearm.
i've always kinda thought that the noise wouldn't be one of the things that you'd care to think about that much when thinking about a defense gun. i figured people would much rather blow their eardrums and survive more so than worry about the noise.
I’ve been using the staccato 2011 XL for my competitions lately and it is so choice.. it’s not exactly my bedside gun, but like he said, the damn gun is it’s own cheat code.
I put a zev brake on my G19 and it was ferociously loud on my ears the one time I forgot I didn’t have my ears on and I thought the exact same thing afterwards.
@@nameredacted1176 so curious as I've never shot it. If it's so great and accurate to shoot, it can accept optics and a light, why wouldn't you have it as your bedside gun? (Assuming your bedside is a 9mm)
You missed the best, Wilson Combat EDC X9 and now the SFX9
Better guns with higher capacity available
Opted for the Staccato P over the C2 (functionally equivalents to the above). In terms of "looks good on the nightstand", +1 in favor of Wilson Combat. Otherwise, splitting hairs.
@@nunzioalioto2420 i have both, shot both.. try the Wilson Combat SFX9. It’s very hard to make a better gun. The trigger, sights, balance, recoil. It shoots as good as it gets. My experience only after shooting literally hundreds of firearms. Best Regards
Poors 😂 @@brentwinkelman1990
Can’t go wrong with any of them! Great choices
the best home defense gun is the gun you know the most, you know how to operate and where the safety is, a gun you can point at the target with your eyes close, and know the feel of the trigger even in your dreams. also having decent magazine capacity and a light is good.
I'm surprised theres not 1 CZ on this list. The p10 series triggers have to be the best striker fired guns I have ever felt. It might be on his more affordable guns video though.
He likes Gucci guns
CZ P10F with +4 is my bed side gun
Personally I love my CZ75. My particular one is in
.40S&W. But, my go to gun is my Model 29 S&W.
Yes, it only holds 6 rounds, but for what ever reason
I can shoot the smallest groups with my early
80's vintage 29. People find it odd because I am small
and have smallish hands. But that gun's grip fits me perfectly and
the sights and barrel length just plain work for me.
As for any polymer type gun or a Glock,
I might as well be throwing rocks since I can not seem
to hit the side of a barn with those newer guns.
As they say, what ever works best for a particular person
is the gun they should use.
@@archangele1 that's awesome I'm sure you have watched dirty harry before! I have a CZ P01 & P07 in 9mm. Love all metal guns though. I have a S&W 5906 9mm all stainless steel from the 90s. Thats my only vintage gun. It has the shortest reset on any handgun I have handled.
Last time I was in the gun store I picked up a cz75 and I was so disappointed with how it felt in my hand and how it felt to try and manipulate for some reason. Love the look of it just didn't work for me
My nightstand is 1. Staccato C2Duo. 2. Walther PDP (4.5 full size). M&P 2.0 10mm (Sorry, not 9mm, I know). Honorable mention: CZ75 Shadow, Beretta FS92.
Never apologize for 10mm Auto. Glorious round! 🤙
You must have a very large nightstand.
This is very good information, thank you, Noir. I'm an old school, prefer 11 over 9, and 1911 is my choice with HK USP Compact 45 is my backup.
My bedside gun is a Sig P365XL with 15 + 1, a Holosun
507K and TLR-7 light. It pulls double duty as my EDC.
Nothing but respect, Colion, but I've gotta go against the grain on this one. Having owned 2 of the firearms on this list, I'll still turn to my Langdon Tactical full size PX4 w/ 20rd factory mags first.
Excellent gun. I'm with you, I own a few guns on his list but the PX4 Carry is one of the best shooting guns ever.
