Boa noite aqui do Brasil meu amigo americano. Deus abençoe as Américas 🇧🇷🤝🇺🇲

I had a similar issue back in 2021 with a Taurus 22lr version of the 856. The gun had an issue (can't really say what happened or why because the pistol wasn't in my possession when it broke down). I sent it in for warranty repair and literally waited 6 months without any word from them before I finally got in touch and asked what was going on. The person on the phone was nice but they finally got back with me and said the part to replace in the gun wasn't available and they'd wait another week to see if one would be and then they'd send me a replacement gun, which they did.
When I finally got it I took it to the range to make sure it worked then sold it off. In that same time frame I had a broken Ruger I bought off a friend that I sent off for warranty repair I even told them I wasn't the original owner. I had a shipping label that same day after the phone call, had it sent off on a Friday, and got it back to my home on the following Friday. I paid nothing. To be fair I didn't pay anything outside of a background check fee for the Taurus but I also had to wait 6 months. I'll stick with my Rugers. Glad you followed up on this, because I remember you mentioning it, just didn't realize it was back in last year. How the time flies, take care man and enjoy the warm weather!

I have an old Taurus 65 made in the late 70's that's been a great gun, I also had a 32 h&r magnum snubnose made by Taurus that broke on me, I sent it back and they couldn't fix it so they gave me a credit and told me to pick what I wanted off their website so I picked another 65 all black and Taurus paid the shipping and so far the newer production 65 shoots great, it's not like one of my Smiths or Rugers but it runs just fine, makes a good truck gun for me.

I believe Taurus is a redheaded stepchild of Taurus. I've sent plenty of guns back to them over the past 20 years. I used to think they operated inefficiently in Florida, but ever since relocating to Bainbridge, GA, they've developed a serious case of the slows. My family has its root in that town and I grew up less than 25 miles away, so imagine my puzzlement when I first learned of their brilliant decision. We're not talking about people with a New York minute approach to life or a Silicon Valley brain trust, but you've probably figured this out by now.

Thanks for sharing Greg. As the previous commenter said. I'll pass - I have a 3" King Cobra anyway. Taurus CS was good to me sending out a Model 942 to develop 8-shot 22LR speedloaders. So from my personal experience, I have no negatives to report. But I've never sent in a gun under warranty. I own three 856 revolvers with Gallaway spring kits that work flawlessly and shot the tar out of Taurus's Beretta 92 clone back in the day.

Great review Greg. This is what the gun community needs to hear. The QC issues with these South American revolvers have been circulating for many years now. One would think that inspectors would make certain that a more thorough job would be done to uphold the company name. But, alas pride of workmanship appears to not matter to the company president or board of directors....and until they themselves feel the backlash, most likely nothing will change. Heads should roll. As my late dad would say: when you reward poor outcomes, you get even more poor outcomes. This is a real shame, because, like in the old West, a good revolver and rifle combo can still carry a man a long ways in this world. Sad that those offering said combo, don't respect themselves enough to do it right.

    • @LionquestFitness

The revolvers don’t have a lifetime warranty. So you better learn how to gun smith them. Sadly you get what you pay for with Rossi.
They may have committed all their production to a contract. Then when they looked at the ones for service they realized they were all like yours. So they had to wait.

When I have trouble with a company such as that, I contact my states District Attorney, They probably have a web site set up for situations like that. Just keep meticulous records of times of contact, dates, how long I was on hold, who I spoke to, what was promised, etc. They tend to take correspondence from the DA a little more serious. I've had to do it twice and both times had great success. One time the company I had trouble with went out of their way to keep in contact with me. That's what the DA is there for.

just bought a rossi model 720 44 special the day the Brady came in affect I'm thinking around 30 years ago. it came slick action ,extremely accurate, chssp to reload. my 40 year old daughter liked it so much I gave it to her for a present this past Christmas. my cronygraphed loads is 180 grain xtp 1050 fps . buffalo bore sells the same load 1050_ 1100 fps . I have reloaded it all the way to 300gr in testing. it's the cream of the crop .of course her ammunition don't cost her anything or her husband's 9mm either. as far as Taurus firearms in my collection the pistols and revolvers work flawlessly. the rossi brawler 45colt/ 410single shot I recently bought is flawless plus with the help of o rings from harbor freight I also shoot 45acp flawlessly. that's a sweet deal being able to shoot 3 calibers in the same gun. the factory didn't say in the owners manual to do or not to do and I don't recommend anyone shoot 45acp in the rossi brawler without calling the factory and speak to a technician about the higher chamber pressure from the 45acp. standard 45colt is 15000 psi and 45acp 15000 to up around 20,000 psi. papa wishing you well. 😊

I can feel your frustration about quality control and customer service lately. It's horrible. The last company I thought I would get a lemon from was Glock. I recently bought a Glock model 28, what a disappointment it was. At the range I fired 32 rounds and had 29 stovepipes. The gun was so bad that Glick refuses to repair the model 28. They replaced it with a model 48. I refuse to buy new S&Ws, their quality control has gone down the drain. I had a Ruger SP101 that the cylinder locked up on and 10/22 that jamnwd with everything I put through it. When I read the work order on the 10/22 I had to ask how did the gun ever leave the factory the way it did. I'm at a point I refuse to buy anymore guns and definitely keep every one that I have, because I know I can depend on them.

I kept my Taurus 627 tracker loaded ready to go in the top shelf of my gun safe for a year. I shot it a lot and cleaned it throughout the 6-7 years I owned it. Then one day I said "let me see what would happen if a rabid dog or something wandered up" so I took it out to the back yard and fired two shots and the gun locked up on me. First time I had any trouble with it. Sadly that little experiment made me lose faith in Taurus products. Pretending I needed it and having it crap out like that was a massive blow to the confidence I had with it. Slowly I'm becoming more and more of an auto-loader guy.

Last year I picked up a Rossi RM66 4" and a 6" to see if the new guns had better triggers than their predecessors. No, they were and remain just as you describe them, heavy before the break. It's like shooting a typical 22 revolver, except there is no need for such a heavy DA pull in a centerfire handgun. I don't know of anyone who tunes these guns or their Taurus cousins. Stoning the action and swapping out springs is about all you can do, or maybe try pulling the trigger a few thousand times with a fine paste to see if that helps. Be warned, the design of the frame has changed just enough to prevent aftermarket grips from fitting. I found this out the hard way.

Thankfully, the local store owner held one back for me (without asking him to do so).. I now have my 42-43 year old Savage 20/22 back. Also, whoever bought my 627 8-shot .357, has sold it back for something else. I just teturned it to the fold. An older gentleman (friend/fellow customer) offered me a generous trade for that revolver in 2021. I even named the revolver after him...Jerry II. Several months ago I picked up a Rossi Taurus 351. I read there were problems with older models that supposedly have been fixed. At this point I'm not sure if I want to shoot it or sell it too. So obviously my confidence in Rossi is low. I'm a S&W man when it comes to double action revolvers, J and K frames specifically. Godspeed Greg and fellows.

I had a similar experience with my first Taurus 856. The front sight was off, and because I wasn't shooting often, it took me a while to notice. That said, I had a much better customer service experience. I only had to call them once, they reached out to me sometime later and said it couldn't be fixed, needed to be destroyed, etc., they sent me a replacement and that was that. I never ended up actually shooting the replacement, and in fact got rid of it several weeks ago. I have a Taurus 327 now, and that one works fine. I don't plan on buying any other Taurus revolvers.
As for Rossi rifles, my Rossi 92 was fine OOTB. My Rio Bravo .22 though, the front sight was very loose and not centered. I had a gunsmith correct it. I also briefly had an R95 in .30-30; that was fine. Got rid of it because I no longer needed it.

I had a Taurus Defender 605 with the 3in barrel. It has a very heavy trigger and just wasn't fun to shoot. I sold it and bought a Rossi RM64 and it's a night and day difference. The Rossi trigger is very smooth all the way through and not as heavy as the 605. I enjoy shooting the Rossi and so far I haven't had any issues. 🤞🏽

The wide trigger was one of the things is liked. Along with the grip. I know my RM64 is a medium frame, but I wonder if the trigger pull is the same across all three models...? I really wanted a Taurus 608... But I haven't been able to find one for a decent price.

    • @LionquestFitness
      @LionquestFitness  Месяц назад

I liked the wide trigger at first, but over time found it to be uncomfortable. Too, this was the second Rossi I've owned. The first was on the recall list from around 2018 for drop safe issues. The Rossi trigger action on both guns was stiff, then a break as opposed to Taurus triggers with a longer pull. They are progressively smooth then hit a wall and break. I prefer the progressive build up, which smooths out over time. I'm sorry I can't get on board for the new Rossi's, but if you like yours and it works for you, it doesn't matter what anyone else's preference is.

The Rossi 92 is very simple to slick up, there are plenty of videos on how to do it. Just cycling the action will help wear off the rough spots. The one thing I do each time is take a dremel tool and remove the sharp edges around the loading gate.

i'm sorry that the rossi was a disappointment and surprised at the customer service performed by taurus. it would seem that a company trying to shed itself of a not-so-stellar reputation would try harder at pr. i bet the issue was handled stateside, where excuses are getting more common than proficiency. if i remember correctly, rossi kept control of its long gun production when the sold their revolver line to taurus but that may have changed since then. i about bought an older rossi 38 a few years ago. it was beautiful and felt great in the hand. i've also always wanted one of their leer guns. thank you for letting me know that they have issues. i had never researched that or heard about it. i guess i'll save for a henry if i ever decide to get a pistol caliber lever action(i have a marlin 30-30). maybe ruger will make one. thanks again for the videos.

Unfortunately, with customer service in almost every industry, the squeaky wheel gets the oil. Quantity over quality is how things are these days. The Japanese have a concept called kaizen which they use on their cars: it means continuously analyzing your process and trying to improve it. No one can argue that they don't make great cars and happy customers keep buying them because they also treat them with respect. The firearms industry needs to adapt this.

Honda especially has been getting steadily worse since the early 2000s with lots of transmission problems, cylinder deactivation malfunctions, and oil consumption issues. Their newer turbo 1.5 liters were blowing themselves up, they blamed it on a software/tuning issue 🤷‍♂️

When I worked at a guns shop we had to routinely send brand new still in the box Taurus revolvers back to the factory because they had serious flaws. Back then Taurus offered a lifetime warranty & the jole was that was because anyone who bought a Taurus NEEDED one.
My one experience owning a Taurus was like yours, frustrating...gave a buddy $100 for a Taurus Modle 85 stainless 2 inch & after light use, it broke so badly the factory had to replace it after lots of waiting & lots of phone calls.
I sold the replacement as soon as I received it.
Taurus quality control is simply too low for me to take a chance on, especially when there are sooooo many used S&W's out there....and Rossi is a step BELOW Taurus so I definitely wouldn't waste my time or money on them.

Beauty got light polishing & they both got Galloway Precision Hammer Springs for the 856...that makes them really great no light hammer strikes since firing pin on the hammer with any ammo. $9 upgrade is easy. Taurus CS you have to call, be firm, & wait it can suck...I've had a couple of very good phone calls and a couple of bad ones in the last two years & I always suggest making sure they have updated information in their system if you are sending anything back & forth. I've got vids on GX4 Carry it's been awesome, and my most Pimpulishish Auto is coming up! Hopefully an 856 Executive or a two tone 856 Ultralight, or 16" Lever will be in my future at some point.
