Also, I found if you use a flat screwdriver at the base of the socket you can depress the clip and remove the socket. Not cool when doing a job but the sockets are secure on their holder. I'm considering investing in a socket holder case instead.

Thanks! Your method worked well and without potential injury. Useful tip: I take a white metal marker and daub it into the box that tells you the size. This makes it much, much easier to see the sizes.

DON'T BREAK OFF THOSE TABS! Flip the affair over and remove the screws as shown in this video, and toss in the garbage. Then remove the plastic flap that the screws were holding down by pulling the two little pins inward and lifting off at the hinge (pivot) point at the handle. Throw it away, also, it is no longer needed. Flip the affair over so that it is face up (the label, etc., shows). Notice that the holes in the sockets are all showing - this is how they are stored with the little socket holes facing up, remember it. To remove the sockets, one at a time, push a thin screwdriver or the likes into the hole and push down, essentially releasing the socket from the plastic lock formed in the plastic tabs I said not to break off. When finished using the socket, return it to its place, with the hole facing up and insert into its holding place. Done...locked in. Repeat each time you need a socket. And be careful, those larger sized sockets could break a toe or two if they fall off before you secure them properly. After they are locked in place they are not apt to fall out.

I bought both the metric and sae set of these and followed your advice on one set. It worked to get the sockets off but I discovered that you have then removed the mechanism to keep them form falling off the holder. I discovered after I ruined the first set how it is designed to use. Each socket has a hole. Just insert the proper sized screw driver, push in and the socket comes right off. Replace the socket with the hole facing up as they came and they will lock back on and will not then fall off. Simple when you see how it really works

DON'T BREAK THE PACKAGING!!! It's not meant to be broken; you just need to find an object small enough, like a 3mm or 7/64 Allen Wrench to stick in the holes over each socket, found on the front face of the packaging. First remove the 5 screws on the back and open it up. THEN you can pop the sockets off correctly (with an Allen Wrench) without breaking anything so you can keep reusing the package as a holder, like it's clearly meant to serve as. Don't break it, keep the sockets on there and hang it up or something, just keep them together or else you could risk losing one from disorganization.

This video is a great example of well-intended, but incorrect "how-to" info. Here's a little more detail on why, for anyone who's interested.

Thank you for sharing your experience. I was wondering how to make it easy to remove them each time I needed to grab one. The way they come packaged from the store must be for security reasons. Of course, not that anyone would steal a socket or two from the package in the store.

so helpful! thanks for the video. I was concerned that the sockets would fall off if I took out the clips like you show. Do they stay reasonably or do the fall off the holder if you tip it?

Don't break anything, remove the little screws on the plastic cover (which you could just discard) use a very small screwdriver or something similar, stick it in the small hole on the socket to depress the clip and remove your socket.
