This is the only video I could find to help me remove these damn socket! I’ve been trying to get them off of the rail for months! I almost threw them away, but I figured I should see if there any videos that could help out first. Thank you so much
I broke the packaging on the last set that I bought, so I came to RUclips to try to find a way to do it right this time. Thanks for providing the answer!
Shout out to this guy! I was hoping that I didn't have to break the set I just got... but it was too late 😅😆 but thank you for the knowledge man, I very much appreciate it.
I was ready to try and saw the plastic off because I couldn’t get it off the plastic lol! Thx for the flat head screw driver tip! It worked like a charm!☺️
I took my leatherman pliers and just popped out the plastic from the top of each corresponding plastic keeper from the bottom of the sockets. The sockets don't stick and everything is working just fine. It took maybe 20 seconds. Thanks for the video though. It have me a great place to start.
@@toolhead147 That packaging was really pissing me off because I KNEW there was a way to utilize the socket holders without having to go buy one. Your video helped TREMENDOUSLY to show me why those suckers weren't budging.
Discovered all these methods myself working there. This video is validation. Another thing when you pull wiggle the socket at the same time. Never bend or twist the sockets when trying to get them out. When prying with the screw driver it's better to pry away from the socket upwards and wiggle and pull the rest out.
This was very, very helpful. I don't have cutters, so I twisted the plastic strip on the bottom... it breaks easily. I am so relieved! I think they should have instructions on the package for how to remove the sockets from the package.
Nice to know I'm not the only one! A bit scary when I can't even get my sockets off the holder! Makes me think I shouldn't even attempt the task I'm about to do!
Firstly why do the sellers always say the sockets are easy to get on and off when they obviously aren't and secondly, why don't they tell you how to do it?! Seems pretty basic to me. In fact having just today received a socket set from Hi-Spec and being unable to get *any* of the damn sockets off, I find myself here, although why you had to mention removing the plastic bit that goes from end to end 3 times in the first 4 minutes, I don't know and as I don't have a screwdriver handy, guess I'm just going to have to keep trying to pull. :) Crazy. Should have paid a bit more and got them loose in a box!
Thank you for doing this video but...you were 4:30 minutes in before you did what you said you would do. You also repeated yourself three times. I’d be interested in subscribing when you pare down your presentations.
It's shame to waste the piece the sockets are sold on. Problem is a poor design/execution of the lttle posts upon which the sockets are impalled. Once you've wrested the sockets free, look at the posts and you will see two small grooves, one on either side of the posts. If you take a pair of diaganol cutters or a box cutter and open those slots up with clip or a slice, they will have just enough space to move when you put the sockets on or take them off. It does make a handy organizer and it's even better if you don't break out the small piece on the rail that allows you to remove each socket/plug.
Three minutes in and still repeating the same thing. Needs to take a remedial course in English . Not accurate in describing tools. Most likely an illegal
It's crazy that I'm not the only one with this issue. Shout out to you for creating this video!
Your welcome!
You should see the drill bit box!!! About ready to toss this 💩 poo against the wall!
Hyper tough set! 😩 😫
Bro I was like wtf I can’t take out a socket embrassed asf 😂
This packaging is so ridiculous

I've been there before it's a struggle. Thank you for watching!
You're the man, dude. I wanted to make sure there wasn't some secret way to get those sockets off. There isn't. Just prying. Thanks for the vid.

I'm glad it helped!
Thanks for the practical help.
I thought a nine minute video on how to takeoff packaging would be crazy. But you were spot on. Thank you.
I took my leatherman pliers and just popped out the plastic from the top of each corresponding plastic keeper from the bottom of the sockets. The sockets don't stick and everything is working just fine. It took maybe 20 seconds.
Thanks for the video though. It have me a great place to start.
No problem. We all got a different way of tearing up packages. Thanks for watching!

I agree 👍
TY! I am very grateful to have found your video. Just last night I was looking at my sockets and going UGH!
Your welcome 👍
thank you!! I felt so dumb trying to get these off
Thank you!! I was afraid I'd break something if I got a screwdriver involved. Very nice of you to make the video for us!
Thank you the one we got was way then the one you have but it worked. When I flip it over and use the flat head screw driver.
Thank you so much, saved me so much aggravation!
Thank you, this was helpful.
So glad it wasn’t just me!
You ' da man! The screwdriver twist worked great on removing the Pittsburgh screwdriver socket bits! In to the garbage with that holder now haha 😂
This helped me a lot. Thanks for the video
Thanks. This helped me
Thanks !! Me and my dad were trying to get these things off like ...wtf?! You’re a lifesaver lol 👍🏽💯💯💯
It says cut but where exactly not highly advance intelligent
Nice to know I'm not the only one! A bit scary when I can't even get my sockets off the holder! Makes me think I shouldn't even attempt the task I'm about to do!
Thank you so much for this video!!
Thank you so much! Bf was struggling! lol 😅
Mine were completely different, ended up drilling out the core of the plastic, but I was very near to pulling out the blow torch.
Wow
😂😂
🤣
Oh yeah I've broken off those tabs in the back of a socket or tool. Ugh. I've had to use some needle nose pliers to dig them out. Your method is easy.
I found this out the hard way after many broken tabs lol
This was a great help. Just bought a new set from Harbor Freight and could not get those boogers off!
Rumor is the person who invented this packaging now lives under an assumed name in a corporate protection program.
Good timing on this, heading out to buy the socket adapters today, Thx for the info!!
Thug HGTV hurt yvcbcccchhff. Jj
Thanks for the info.
Thanks super helpful!
Thanks! Now I can get sockets for free.
Goodness I'm glad this is here 😂
How do you get a broken plastic tip out of an adapter or extension?
Thanks a lot man!!!!!!!!
Thank you! I never know how to take these out...its ridiculous
If you just hold the tab its connected to down and bend the socket back and forth it comes right off
Some of them you have to slide to the one side and it has a gap so that you can pull them off but it sucks like with me I needed the last one
Thank you!
Your welcome 👍
Thanks bro! Who would thumbs down this? LOL
Just happy I’m not the only one standing in the corner wearing a dunce hat on how to remove sockets……… But I did celebrate a birthday, actually two 🎂
They actually have a little space between them for a reason you slide them down there's a notch there for pulling them off.
Thank you!!!
You're welcome
How do u put black plastic peace back on packaging
Twist and pull/wiggle works

Go to 4:25 for the point
I cut open my finger trying to use a screwdriver to get it open. These packages are over board
I was like I can’t believe I have to look this up…
Omg thank you ha

I agree, this video was back when I started. Thank you for watching
The reason is like that is to avoid people from stealing it in put it on they pocket
Thank you because I wanted to slap the cashier
your welcome
“You can reuse this”, hell to the NO

Note to self:
Buy tools to help open new tools when you buy tools..
1 minute and 3 seconds and nothing! Nothing but jabba jabba. Get on with it and stop wasting our time. I'm out of here.
Harbor freight wants tou to think these are for security.... the dirty secret is you buy more tools than the cost of the sockets to just open them
do they hate us? lol
Just want to say f you for making this 8 minutes long wtf dude we are guys
wtf is the meaning of this packaging omfg! less engineering went into building the space station
Fuck speed it up
2 channel locks 🤣
Jesus that was alot of nonsense talking at the beginning
Literally why is this a thing? Why is a video needed to undo the packaging from these. This is so ridiculous
Bro get to the point got dam! All this unnecessary talking
This is the dumbest packaging ever.
Three minutes in and still repeating the same thing. Needs to take a remedial course in English . Not accurate in describing tools. Most likely an illegal
One of the very stupidest designs. I bought some unknowingly from Harbor freight. NEVER AGAIN.
Unreal…
These are the stupidest things I’ve ever bought.
