    Advice: The RWR has a blind spot under the belly of the aircraft. When you roll the belly towards the SAM site, RWR warning will stop. When you level out it will start again. Its still the same missile chasing you. Be aware of that.

      I've been doing DCS WOrld for a bit now, played a few games with Drewski in Squad, always thought it would be cool to see him try out DCS. Glad he finally made it in. I never in a million years saw myself as a flight sim guy, let alone a DCS flightsim guy, but learning the weapon systems, spending the man hours to try and figure out how to do a Case I, and then fly with squadrons... I don't know there is so much about this game that is rewarding to play. I got sucked in, ... and now I'm about 1000 dollars in the shitter with my new HOTAS setup LOL... but I can't believe I'm saying this, every dollar well spent so far.

I went with it as a first buy to get the extra versatility for carrier ops, and frankly, I think its the best first purchase you can make, because carrier ops are so dang fun. Add on the Super Carrier Module - super worth it for the extra immersion and detail on the flight deck! I do intend to get the Viper soon, probably once the Christmas sale starts... and eventually, I'll likely get the Tank Killer as well. Brrrrrrrt.
      Edit: Oh, I almost forgot, I also have the F-14. Great module, but I've been putting it off while I master the Hornet. F-14 is a little more complicated to fly with the dated systems, but most people that master it, master air domination with those Mavericks...

    Nice little tip for the F10 map: turn the map icons to Russian in the settings. Instead of being half-ovals that are just blobs on the map, Russian icons are different arrows that accurately show the heading and direction of other aircraft. A lot easier and faster to pick up what direction everyone is going. It doesn't seem like a big deal until you try it

    I know I'm late but Drewski be sure to use your HUD elements on the viper. Specifically at 25:12. The bar off to the right gives you info on your missile's max range and lethal range. As long as the carrot indicating the distance to target is within the lower box; you're no escape range, you can fire your AIM-120 with a high probability that you'll get a kill. Just make sure the tiny circle is also within the larger circle; these indicate the missile's ability to track effectively/get on target.

    For a non exclusive DCS channel, this is very quickly becoming my favourite DCS channel. It's about so much more than just the flying. It's the choice of clips, the directing, the narrating. I'm sure you already knew and just forgot or something, but just in case you did not know:
    The S6 didnt reengage, it is the same missile giving you the launch warning. Your RWR has blind spots above and below the aircraft, so when you rolled over to pull down, your RWR lost the contact. Then you went full inverted as you finished the roll and the contact came back up coming from the same direction.
    Picture a doughnut, where the doughnut's hole in the middle is the center of your aircraft. Point the hole at any radar and it wont see it. Point the actual dough at the radar and it will pick it up.
    Also for the SEAD side of things, specifically the HARM page on the F16, I feel you lol. Incredibly hard to actually lock the target and incredibly tedious to sort out what the HARM scans for, and how long it takes the HARM to pick it up, where on the F18 it just gives it to you. Cant wait for more modes to be introduced to the F16 concerning the HARM in regards to that.
    Otherwise, have fun in the Viper, and have fun learning it!

    Useful tip. In game settings you can have the F16 keep afterburner indent on. Then bind a key to your hotas to cycle the indent. It's way easier to conserve fuel when you know you can slam it to mil power without accidental AB. For the F18 I bind the finger lift for the same effect.

    You can drop chaff or flares independently to not waste any of it. Edit a program (1-4, whichever you want to use) to only dump flares or chaff Then change program 5 to dump the other countermeasure (flare or chaff, whatever isnt in the other program).
    Then bind the Dispense switch to a button and bind the CMS fwd to another button. CMS fwd will use the selected program (1-4) and the dispense button will always choose program 5
    Set the mode to MAN and you can dump chaff and flares independently (idk if you already knew this but i thought it would be useful )

    • @liamboon2168
      @liamboon2168 4 года назад +2

      Maybe don't get those first if you are new to dcs. Try getting low fidelity flight models first, they are also a butload cheaper, you can get the flaming cliffs 3 (fc3) pack form less than a single high fidelity model. The low fidelity models are made to teach you the basics of an aircraft, however high fidelity aircrafts are made for the people that want the almost 1 to 1 (basically a real jet,but then in a vid game) aircraft, and these are mainly for that put in hundreds of hours into the game.

    • @liamboon2168
      @liamboon2168 4 года назад +2

      Basically if you're new take low fidelity jets. And if you are VERY experienced considered taking high fidelity. Btw FC3 is almost never a bad choice

    • @del3teo664
      @del3teo664 4 года назад +1

      Depends, the other comments down here are not wrong, but you will also be fine with the F/A-18 as your first module. The Viper lacks too many features for me to whole heartedly recommend. Hornet is pretty easy to learn but has a lot of systems to learn and play around with. FC3 is getting like no attention anymore but its a good package to get started with DCS as a framework. Hornet is definetly the best starter High-Fidelity module i did not regret ignoring FC3 until i had like 500 hours in only high fids.

    • @liamboon2168

    If you want to range out in the radar just scroll with RDR Cursor to the top and it will lengthen the range, similarly going to the bottom will shorten the range. Going to the sides will narrow the beam width too. You don't need to take the hands off your HOTAS.

    Nice vid, good to see you in the Viper! Definitely more suited to SEAD than the Hornet, even if it can only carry half the missiles. How did you get that AWACS callout? Mine in game doesn't sound anything like the one in this vid.

      i know im a bit late, but thats using SRS so you can talk to each other a bit like discord/teamspeak, but uses the in game radios, then there's a computer ai that technically counts as a player doing AWACS' job, but as it's like discord, you can talk to it and such, or even have a real person do the job of awacs.
