A lot easier and faster to pick up what direction everyone is going. It doesn't seem like a big deal until you try it
I know I'm late but Drewski be sure to use your HUD elements on the viper. Specifically at 25:12. The bar off to the right gives you info on your missile's max range and lethal range. As long as the carrot indicating the distance to target is within the lower box; you're no escape range, you can fire your AIM-120 with a high probability that you'll get a kill. Just make sure the tiny circle is also within the larger circle; these indicate the missile's ability to track effectively/get on target.

Maybe don't get those first if you are new to dcs. Try getting low fidelity flight models first, they are also a butload cheaper, you can get the flaming cliffs 3 (fc3) pack form less than a single high fidelity model. The low fidelity models are made to teach you the basics of an aircraft, however high fidelity aircrafts are made for the people that want the almost 1 to 1 (basically a real jet,but then in a vid game) aircraft, and these are mainly for that put in hundreds of hours into the game.
Depends, the other comments down here are not wrong, but you will also be fine with the F/A-18 as your first module. The Viper lacks too many features for me to whole heartedly recommend. Hornet is pretty easy to learn but has a lot of systems to learn and play around with. FC3 is getting like no attention anymore but its a good package to get started with DCS as a framework. Hornet is definetly the best starter High-Fidelity module i did not regret ignoring FC3 until i had like 500 hours in only high fids.
@@liamboon2168 Oh, totally, but the top comment is asking for a choice between two aircraft, so i assumed he was already sold on buying one of the two mentioned high fids. So i thought the commeter is dedicated enough to stick around.
If you want to range out in the radar just scroll with RDR Cursor to the top and it will lengthen the range, similarly going to the bottom will shorten the range. Going to the sides will narrow the beam width too. You don't need to take the hands off your HOTAS.
Nice vid, good to see you in the Viper! Definitely more suited to SEAD than the Hornet, even if it can only carry half the missiles. How did you get that AWACS callout? Mine in game doesn't sound anything like the one in this vid.
i know im a bit late, but thats using SRS so you can talk to each other a bit like discord/teamspeak, but uses the in game radios, then there's a computer ai that technically counts as a player doing AWACS' job, but as it's like discord, you can talk to it and such, or even have a real person do the job of awacs.
Funny! Read a thread from the author asking what he can improve to have more people use it... Answers were basically that many people didn't know about it and that truly seems to be the main reason... :D Should be integrated with the more commonly used comms channels, not something like 136.000...

Basically if you're new take low fidelity jets. And if you are VERY experienced considered taking high fidelity. Btw FC3 is almost never a bad choice
@@del3teo664 FC3 is purely worth it if you might not like the game after a few hours.
@@Kaiser-ks3yq thanks for the late reply! Yeah I figured out pretty quick after it was Overlord Bot.
Yes I've been waiting for one of these vids for a while!!!
This and the 18 are my main jet, I’m trying to learn the warthog though
@@stylishniggachannel4763 Airforce training in a nutshell
I started on the a10, got the f18 half a year ago, and am hoping to get into the f16 soonish. I want something speedy haha
ds and gameboy where pretty nice as a video game introduction, it worked on me!
Do you really have the flashing position lights on when going into combat?
I love these videos, I don't think I would ever be able to get into such games on my own, but watching videos like these are extremely entertaining
You can try Falcon BMS. It's like this viper module for DCS, but better, faster and almost free.
Can you shoot out some info on this AI GCI? I've been playing 3 years and am just now learning about it from this video.
it's called "overlordbot", and it's currently to my knowledge only hosted on Georgia at war
@@denneledoe873 ahh ok thanks!
Funny! Read a thread from the author asking what he can improve to have more people use it... Answers were basically that many people didn't know about it and that truly seems to be the main reason... :D Should be integrated with the more commonly used comms channels, not something like 136.000...
8:45 funny enough i got that reference. Gosh the nintendo was peak.
Wait so were those real players talking on the radio channels?
yep
When the DS came out, I got it for Christmas, and my first DS game was Pokemon Trozei
Is there any way you might be able to add the landing next time? I was wondering if you landed with fuel or not. Great video though, looks like fun.
Please try to cover as many Aircraft/Helicopters as possible. This high level of immersion is so fascinating!
Hey drew! Do you plan on making more vlogs on your other channel. I would be really down to watch
13:21 I have shared that fear before in the A-10C2
Hey man, i love the content and because i want to be fighter pilot i am loving the dcs content! I was wondering if you could do video in the future with f-22 raptor or f/a 18 hornet it would be so much fun... Also you should contact another dcs youtuber and do a video dogfighting eachother i know it would be fun, entertaining and we all will learn about the jets! If youre reading this have a great day full of positive energy! Just trying to send ideas your way
If you hold dms down in the viper you turn of the helmet display and it can be turned on again by holding dms down Once more.
I’m an idiot for doing this but when I get shot I sometimes just stay in the jet until I get like 4000 or 2000 feet until I eject
8:46 ... stop makin me feel old :’(

This game is fantastic! My sister joined the Airforce recently. Although she only measures shit with a fancy ruler and torque wrench, she also adjusts and calibrates G-Suits in a temp/humidity controlled environment.
