When I got to this point in the game, I didn't just rush through it like I usually did. I took my time. I sucked in the beautiful music and appearance. I talked to everyone and that guy who gives you Thief. I even read the captions of the various exhibits thinking "Oh my god I'm so old I actually understand this stuff about aqueous solutions now." Man, this was just a huge nostalgia burst for me.
Same for me. The music is just perfect for leisurely walking around the museum. It was actually like being in a real museum for me. one of the things I mostly remembered from gen III was the soundtrack, so when I started playing ORAS, I pcked my best headphones and hummed along with the soundtrack. But I confess I didn't quite remembered the museum one, so when I had to enter that place for the first time, I was really stunned. You know those moments you stop to listen to a soundtrack and suddently forget what you were supposed to do xD?
As a kid its impossible to realize the life-defining experiences you have with games like pokemon, and the wave of nostalgia and feelings that will wash over you when you hear songs like these for the first time in years.
Interestingly, the S.S. Anne / oceanic museum theme is based on 19th century russian composer Modest Mussorgsky's "Pictures at an exhibition", a suite which describes different paintings through music. This tune is called the "Promenade". It connects the pieces and represents the composer taking a leisurely stroll inbetween looking at exhibits that catch his eye. Fitting, isn't it?
I can't fckn find the original dude, can you help me? I heard this tune at a wedding today. I couldn't remember where I knew it from, figured could be Pokemon (original R/S/E) and the guy playing it said he just improvised what came into his mind, couldn't remember what the piece was called. But hearing Pokemon music while the groom and bride were accepting congratulations was really trippy.
0:57 is actually very subtle on the part of whoever composed this, incorporating another small piece of Pachelbel's Canon, which is the song the previous section is based on...
I think this was composed by Junichi Masuda (created the original SS Anne theme which this is based on) and Morikazu Aoki (credited for building on Masuda's ideas from the SS Anne theme to create this theme for RSE) and arranged by Minako Adachi. I think the specific part you are reffering to was composed by Morikazu Aoki, with ideas from Masuda's SS Anne theme vaguely audible.
@@juicy_oranges5529 I know; what I meant was that from ~0:35-0:57 you could get away with thinking "oh, that’s just an overused chord progression", but 0:57 is an obvious shout-out. ;)
When I was playing OS and heard this song, I broke into tears. For some reason when I heard it all my memories of the events that have transpired when I was playing the originals flooded my mind. Living in Kansas when a tornado damaged my house and school, moving to Texas in the middle of the school year, but also good times like when my youth football team went undefeated. This song stays with me forever.
The piano, violin and trumpet sounds each getting their time in the spotlight make this track so powerful. This song is amazing, the tracks in gen 3 is part of what makes the games so memorable for me.
Lol the SS Anne never disappears. It only looks like it does for that onr cutscene when you get off the ship. If you use the walk through walls glitch you can see that it's still there, and you can still get on easily. The game just tries to keep you off by the guy saying it set sail
So I was doing that Scanner quest yesterday, and I went to look for Captain Stern to give it to him, but I couldn’t remember where he was, so I was searching the Oceanic Museum, and I didn’t find him there. Instead, I found nostalgia. I didn’t want to leave the place despite not finding him there.
The nostalgia is hitting me hard right now. I remember when i pre ordered omega ruby and was excited to play it more than anything else. When i eventually got it when it released, i texted my brother and bragged to him lol. Pokemon has been such a massive part of my life. Thank you gamefreak for helping me figure out the things i love most. Games and anything technology stemmed from my love of pokemon.
Oh boy, this place is awesome!!! There are a lot of fossils and incredible informations about oceanography, I could stay here all day long! Maybe Captain Stern will let me get inside the museum warehouse with a lot of other ancient finds! But, what are those fancy dressed guys doing here? They seem up to no good. Maybe I should go and check...
Nintendo sure knows how to hit you in the heart with nostalgia with their constant amazing remixes. All through Mario, Zelda & Pokemon then all of their franchises & more in Smash! xD
+5 Volt Dude, it makes me sad that ORAS came after Smash 4. Otherwise they could have included songs like this one, Rayquaza's, Archie/Maxie's, or Zinnia's.
Being Emerald my first GBA and pokemon game, I played THE HELL out of it, so when I saw ORAS, bought in a split second, and played the game realizing had pretty much all the tracks memorized, so listening to the remake made me smile throughout the whole game... until I entered the oceanic museum, which I had forgotten the original track! Needless to say, I was blown away by it the remake. Like, I literaly gasped.

I do not care if this video is old 8 years or if anyone will read this but this (in my country) is the last day of summer for me, farewell me from the future I’m listening to this because it makes this moment more like the end of a game you loved all the memories slowly fading away with all the friends you have met melting away like a tear on a soft skin, goodbye friends a new future awaits me and for you reader cringe? To emotional I don’t care maybe you are listening to this in July and probably laughing at me but I do not care as long as this theme carry me away from this land
Sadly there is always that 1 person, regardless of if they like it or not they'll go and dislike just to see stuff like your comment appear :P This music is truly beautiful and I immediately loved it along with much of the game which was something I was not expecting as I really didn't like the original Gen 3 (or 4 for that matter), I could never really put my finger on it but it never felt quite right to me but with Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire the games became a lot more accessible and I had little choice but to give it a go which I certainly will never regret doing now.
Better than the original! Much smoother and atmospheric. I love it so much! :') I do love the original, don't get me wrong. It's thanks to the original that this one feels as nostalgic as it is!!
"Don't be silly. How can nostalgia hit twice at the same time?"
*This track plays*
Three times now.
We get this track in Kanto and Hoenn(and Kalos?). That's almost every game, but I do prefer RSE and ORAS versions of Oceanic Museum/SS Anne theme.
Oh SS Anne theme, I will never get tired of you.
I THINK OF THE TITANIC AND THE HINDENBURG AND HOW GREAT THEY WERE BEFORE DISASTER STRUCK
The SS Anne was torpedoed
