The human experience is so marvelous and yet so simple. I only wish that everyone reading this has a blessed day tomorrow and every day after.
Oh man, "Littleroot Town" was the first song I immediately thought of when I saw this video pop up, and it hits *so hard*. I remember back then, hanging out with my cousin, playing through Pokemon Ruby on my GameBoy Advance, Jackie Chan Adventures on the TV. Cozy, warm, and happy, despite the snow outside... man, I wish I could go back and experience that for the first time again.
The only thing I wish they did with the water routes were making them more unique from one another. Instead they're all just water, rocks, and the same few encounters
@@bobjoe3492 Yeah, but there were still some cool places, like the old ship and the diving spots. Oh and the town on water (idk the english name of it since I played the game in German xD) And the route with the currents :D
This music is almost atavistic to me. It brings me back to when the world was just as much of an adventure as the game itself. The characters were real and each city was blooming with life, I gathered my team and rose through the wonder. Littleroot town hits me the hardest, and sometimes I think it would even without my childhood memories to emphasize the feeling of… nostalgia? It feels so bittersweet in it of itself, as if the game knew I would be coming back and how it would feel to hear it all these years later. The gif you put up only brings me in deeper; I remember that route feeling the most wild and endless. Anyways, thank you!
Yoo that was my exact same thought when I heard Littleroot town, it just feels so bittersweet... like despite it being my first time playing the games littleroot town almost made me shed a tear
I have a lot of ups and downs in my life. Lots of happy times but lots of depressing times. I can easily say playing Pokemon Ruby as an eight year old while my sister played Sapphire was one of the happiest times of my life. I don't think I want to go back to my childhood but man, what a wonderful time.
what hurts most is that I'll never be that age again; I'll never again be able to experience the beauty of Hoenn with the wonder I once had as a child.
I don't know why, today, I click on this, and littleroot comes on and instantly I'm just a kid in my room with nothing to do, playing game boy. Cried a little. Wow.
Oh wow, this really hits me with nostalgia. I remember getting this game when it was still relatively new, I guess I must've been about 7 or 8 at the time since Ruby and Sapphire released in the U.S. in 2003. I think I got it for Christmas. I had so much fun with the Pokemon Contests which was a new concept back then, they didn't have that back in the second or first gen games. I loved the music and the visuals, the music in particular has a special place in my heart. It's just so soothing and makes me happy to listen to. I remember being impressed with the reflections in the puddles when you ran over them lol. Thinking how advanced gaming technology and graphics have become nowadays, I find it laughable my little kid mind was blown by reflections! Thank you for sharing this, it was a welcome trip down memory lane. 🙂
I'm currently playing Pokemon Emerald on emulator, playing it after work. I'm working right now and it's raining, best playlist at the right time. Thank you!
It's interesting how this music still feels fresh and charming to me, while for younger people it might sound old and dated. I feel the same about the sound track of the second and first generation, while people older than me will find that still very charming. I guess what I want to say is that time moves on and that this music functions as a time capsule. Everytime I hear this sound track, all these vivid memories from 5yo me come back to life. I'm sure it triggers people in similar ways. No need for discussion on which generation and game has the best soundtrack. Everyone resonates with their own time capsule that is the pokemon game that is linked to memorable moments in their childhood
@@Asa_Morris The technology used for the music in these games do sound quite old (technologically speaking). Funnily enough Bach is my favorite composer. Absolutely timeless music
You know it's crazy how technology can be frozen in time for some, and instead look archaic to others. I grew up on the NES-sounding beeps and bloops of Gen 1, so this was a *huge* jump forward. I remember being surprised to hear this from a handheld device. And because of that experience, to me, the soundtrack sounds intrinsically good (full stop) -- even *without* the qualifier that it was done with some steep audio hardware limitations that the devs obviously wouldn't have had on a GameCube, Xbox, or PS2. I often read modern commentary on handheld games from this period being written with all sorts of qualifiers. Ex: "Despite the beeps and bloops of the GBA's dated hardware, the composers managed to create music that sounds, at worst, passable, if not occasionally enjoyable." And that is usually written as if it's intended to be praise. But to me it reads like derision. Just shows a real gulf in personal experience. I understand that these writers aren't really technically wrong, but they lack the memory of having gotten the game in 2003 and been like, "WOW!"
Just the sound of this games music made me tear up a little. It brings me back to a time when I didn't have so many worries and responsibilities. I play this during my whatnot pokemon streams. Thank you sharing this 💜🫶
I never noticed all the little bass notes in the music because the speakers on the SP weren't good enough. I absolutely love this soundtrack and I would say it's my favorite, but I may be being biased because Emerald was my first ever game. Miss those days.
What amazes me at this day and age is how were the musicians for the game able to capture every emotions and pressure from each city so clearly through their music??,..classic.
Yes, it does make me want to cry. Littleroot Town hits especially hard as someone who grew up in a small countryside town and is now living in a bustling metropolis as an adult...
Crazy that now pokemons games are soulless shadows of these old games. I remember thinking man my kids are going to have some insanely good games to play one day. Then capitalism crushed the industry
@@Appreciation-Community can you elaborate on how capitalism crushed Game Freak? I think they just lost their way after the first rushed release, and haven't been able to get back on track since. X/Y and ORAS are the last great games to me.
Gen 3 had the best music. Still the only game where you can dive underwater. It was the best years in the anime as well. Hoenn in the anime had Ash Misty, Brock, May, Max, Team Rocket, Lance, Gary. Brock and Misty were still in the show and Pokemon contests were born.
I remember my childhood friend introduce me to Pokemon Sapphire, I only know the Anime and the movies at the time but never played the games, I remember being so addicted that I begged my parents to buy me a gameboy and the Emerald version of the game, man I was glued to the screen all day and night lol. I still have the Golem and Crobat that he traded me and was excited at the time. I missed him alot, when I heard he passed away from a drug overdose a few years ago I felt like my heart broke into pieces. He was like a brother to me. I still have the cartridge, it's been collecting dust over the years, but I still kept it and still have my old save file. It's a special memory to me. RIP Joseph, you were like a big brother to me.
Pokémon emerald was the first Pokémon game I ever played. My grandmother went behind my parents back to get me a Gameboy advance SP and the game for my 6th birthday, breaking my parent's no-video-games policy. I'm 24 now, 25 in May. I still have that cartridge, and boot the game up every once in a while to try out some new challenges and raise some Pokémon for myself in the Battle Frontier. I've reset the game hundreds of times and currently am going through the frontier again to get myself a gold medal in all facilities with only 3 Pokémon. A Flygon, a Starmie, and a Magneton. Flygon's been one of my favorite Pokémon since I can't even remember when and when I play Gen 3 competitive formats (namely just OU) I always try to use a Flygon on my teams. Maybe this video isn't as nostalgic to me as everyone else, as I still fully enjoy Hoenn in every single way possible, but it is a playlist of songs that take me through my life none the less. The more things change, the more some things stay the same.
"its only hoenn" will make me stay. the anime op for gen 3 was fine the manga for pokemon RS was great the game and it's ost was top tier character design for the remakes make it better ORAS made it feel more romantic than it should be and i'm all for it. to top it off, mudkip.
Emerald was the best choice i made and playing it in middle school. I remember everything i went through with it. I still have a data still to this day to catch or breed my shiny absol. This generation is how i got my username. I love gen 3, music, pokemon designs and new journey that is the best ❤ Thank you for this video!
It's like Yesterday I used to play this game. My mom, My Dad and My Brother stopping me to play this game but now it's different they're gone. Thanks to this game my childhood is amazing.
I always go back to litteroot town, say hi to my mom, my neighbors, prof oak, may, the kid that stopped me from entering the wild grass, and just listen to the music
The amount of nostalgia from this game. I was 9 in the beginning of 2010. We were poor and mother decided to move to the Bay Area from the Central Valley. We went from hotel to homeless shelter to motel. Sucked a lot for her as she had to figure out what to do about her and the 4 kids. No man in her life. Only things I took were my clothes and my DS a friend gifted me. Surprised I didn’t lose the damn thing, but Pokémon Ruby took me away from the worries and pressure of life at the time. I was happy, while my mom was stressed out of her mind. Forever grateful for her. Though we didn’t have much money, she managed to save enough to get me Ruby. Red Rescue Team a year later.
OMG!!!! I love love love Pokemon Emerald!! I never got a chance to get to my hands on Ruby or Sapphire, but I did for Emerald. Finding everything out without internet was fun lol. I've beaten it so many times growing up! Last time I beat it, I was already was like 7 years ago in my early 20s. Then when they introduce ORAS, you know I had to get it!!! It was nice to see the new touches with Omega Evolutions as it was new to me. However, this game will always remain my favorite Pokemon. These music!!! Always bring childhood memories. Hoenn pokemon remains my favorite. None of the other 3 legendaries can beat these in Hoenn. Rayquaza, Groudon, and Kyogre. I stopped playing Pokemon games after the Hoenn region. The new Pokemons after became less interesting to me that I lose interest. Thanks for sharing this!!
I was an original Pokemon Sapphire owner on Gameboy SP, My first handheld console. No backlight. gg. I often found myself listening to each of the songs on repeat on blast at some point just because of how amazing it was to hear as a young child. The nostalgia is so serious with this one !!!! Still to this day the only soundtrack I never skipped a single song on ever. THANK YOU SO MUCH 😭😭😭😭 ❤
This is honestly one of my favorite generations of pokemon; it was the first I ever finished as a kid from start to finish. So the music is sooo nostalgic. Thanks for uploading!!
There really is something arresting that grips people so fiercely and dearly to the Pokemon series. The concept, even from the outset was to conjure up nostalgia felt by series creator Satoshi Tajiri of his youth catching bugs in a now deforested and urbanized area of the Japanese countryside. There was always something wistful and kind of tragic underneath everything. That same essence can be heard crying out in the music.
I think Hoenn leveled my curiosity, empathy and interest for dope music! I played Emerald (was 7 or 8 when I got it on my DS). Thanks for making the video!
I remember first seeing the rain and the reflections in the water and thinking to myself…. Omg… Pokémon is at its absolute peak right now and it can never get any better than this!!
The nostalgia hits super hard with this. tbh, i don't remember much about playing these games but the music still holds a special place in my heart. to everyone who grew up with these games, hoped you became the best that no one ever was in the hoenn region.
Born in 2003 here. This was my entire childhood (along with plants vs zombies, zuma, bookworm, feeding frenzy, gta, etc.). The good times when I was always by my brother's side watching him play this through Gameboy and he'd let me play sometimes. How I miss those times and my Gardevoir
Omg are you me? Same age, almost exact same games and I also have an older brother whom I watched play videogames when I was younger. So much nostalgia 😢
take me back to when me and my brother would take turns running thru sapphire or just me playing constantly (mainly for the bomb ass soundtrack) i miss being happy with no worry in the world except getting caught playing at night lol
These little midi horns were the backdrop to some of my happiest memories playing video games. I’ll probably replay emerald once a year for the rest of my life as tradition honestly.
Hoenn Region and Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald are the best overall IMO. Even if my Game catridge clock resets and wipes my whole saved game. I'd buy the other version that I don't have and replay it all over again. Fun times when I was a kid.
:’) I’ll never forget playing my first ever GBA game… it was Pokémon Emerald in the mid 2000’s. What attracted me to it was the fact the cartridge was green when I saw a friend with it and different from all other GBA games. Here I am nearly 20 years later and still the biggest Pokémon fan! Pretty funny way of being introduced to the series!
Although not my first pokemon game, Ruby was still my most played one even now. That being said, MAY's eye and bangs looks like kirby breathing heavily on the reflection lol
Bruh Gen 3 gets overlooked a lot but it's my favorite it's the first and only game where I felt comfortable in the world and the story actually became a story with real stakes even it's it's been done to HFIL and back but Hoenn was the first
I love how much you can tell the sound guys got the GBA sounds chip and were like 'YO! We can use trumpets now' and then just overused them all over RSE

The cutscene where rayquaza descends from the sky gave me a chill down my spine EVERY SINGLE TIME. And when sootopolis goes back to normal and the soundtrack comes back in, it makes u feel like u just had a really good cry :')))

Ngl, I don’t think I’ve ever heard the surfing theme for that long without a wild Pokémon encounter or trainer battle lol
The only thing I wish they did with the water routes were making them more unique from one another. Instead they're all just water, rocks, and the same few encounters
Max repel dude
@@bobjoe3492 Yeah, but there were still some cool places, like the old ship and the diving spots.
Oh and the town on water (idk the english name of it since I played the game in German xD)
And the route with the currents :D
F*cking Tentacool
My childhood in 35 minutes. Man, I'm crying, good old times.
Be honest. You hummed to the melody of most of these because you know the osts by heart.
I wish I knew how easy I had it then....
Listening to this now makes me wish I could go back.
This generation was incredible. It felt so fresh and different, and it simply claimed its right to be made.
Playing with siblings and friends made it 10x better
I agree, with my best friend as a kid. Literally best memories of my life that I’ll never forget man
what hurts most is that I'll never be that age again; I'll never again be able to experience the beauty of Hoenn with the wonder I once had as a child.
Almost shed a tear when I played my Pokémon emerald yesterday and hearing this music. Simpler times 😭
I was around that age too. Tbh, it was my first pokemon game and I played it 100x on my gameboy. I cry honestly.. i'm 29 now and I miss the days.
I'm currently playing Pokemon Emerald on emulator, playing it after work. I'm working right now and it's raining, best playlist at the right time. Thank you!
I was just playing Silver Version :D. The nostalgia...
Old and dated, eh... can't wait for the Zoomers to discover JS Bach 😶😶
@@Asa_Morris The technology used for the music in these games do sound quite old (technologically speaking).
Funnily enough Bach is my favorite composer. Absolutely timeless music
That's it man, you've said it all right here :)
@@kevinmahoney1995 it's all a matter of context. Thanks for your comment, I enjoyed reading it :)
"Don't push yourself too hard, dear. You can always come home."
I feel thankful that i have experienced this as a child…
Crazy that now pokemons games are soulless shadows of these old games. I remember thinking man my kids are going to have some insanely good games to play one day. Then capitalism crushed the industry
@@Appreciation-Community can you elaborate on how capitalism crushed Game Freak? I think they just lost their way after the first rushed release, and haven't been able to get back on track since. X/Y and ORAS are the last great games to me.
TRUST ME THAT MUSIC UNDERWATER DIVE IS LITERALLY STUCK IN MY HEAD SINCE I WAS LITTLE, AND ACTUALLY HEARING IT AGAIN GOT ME THE SHIVERS
No cap in Ora’s it doesn’t hit nearly the same
Gen 3 had the best music. Still the only game where you can dive underwater. It was the best years in the anime as well. Hoenn in the anime had Ash Misty, Brock, May, Max, Team Rocket, Lance, Gary. Brock and Misty were still in the show and Pokemon contests were born.
Hoenn's OSTs are really special. I do appreciate them.
Your grandma is a legend! ^^
Very cool. I still find ways to use my old favorites in my Gen 6 OU teams.
memories :') I miss this era terribly you really just had to be there
Can you imagine when we'll be listening this in 50 years?
"its only hoenn" will make me stay.
the anime op for gen 3 was fine
the manga for pokemon RS was great
the game and it's ost was top tier
character design for the remakes make it better
ORAS made it feel more romantic than it should be and i'm all for it.
to top it off, mudkip.
Emerald was the best choice i made and playing it in middle school.
I remember everything i went through with it.
I still have a data still to this day to catch or breed my shiny absol.
This generation is how i got my username.
I love gen 3, music, pokemon designs and new journey that is the best ❤
Thank you for this video!
Honestly, for me, all the trumpets and that kinda stuff go very hard in my opinion and I am missing them in the remakes to some extent
THANK YOU SO MUCH 😭😭😭😭 ❤
Hoenn, holds a special place for me. Literally the gen I grew up with and played the most. Still remember taking my cable to battle my friends lol
very clever of you to make the visuals a literal self-reflection
This is honestly one of my favorite generations of pokemon; it was the first I ever finished as a kid from start to finish. So the music is sooo nostalgic. Thanks for uploading!!
There really is something arresting that grips people so fiercely and dearly to the Pokemon series. The concept, even from the outset was to conjure up nostalgia felt by series creator Satoshi Tajiri of his youth catching bugs in a now deforested and urbanized area of the Japanese countryside. There was always something wistful and kind of tragic underneath everything. That same essence can be heard crying out in the music.
Holy shit, this brings back a ton of memories. Thank you for making this video.
I think Hoenn leveled my curiosity, empathy and interest for dope music! I played Emerald (was 7 or 8 when I got it on my DS). Thanks for making the video!
ONLY gen 3?? Bruh, it's MORE than enough! This is perfection
In my opinion Gen 3 had the best music out of all the Pokemon generation. So nostalgic. Makes me feel warm and fuzzy.
Me dieron ganas de llorar, gracias.
I remember first seeing the rain and the reflections in the water and thinking to myself…. Omg… Pokémon is at its absolute peak right now and it can never get any better than this!!
And you were right.
@@Appreciation-Communitybut black 2 and white 2 exist
Gosh, each and every single song makes me feel so many things-- this playlist, I swear.
this is the region i grew up in, it feels like home 💚🧡
Life was much simpler before! Yet we couldn’t wait to grow up. Such is life
Route 119 and Route 120: One of the best feelings of adventure I have ever had. I also love the rain.
Ahh I really love this, this lift my spirits, my first Pokemon game i played to the end was Ruby. Thanks for uploading this.
The nostalgia hits super hard with this. tbh, i don't remember much about playing these games but the music still holds a special place in my heart. to everyone who grew up with these games, hoped you became the best that no one ever was in the hoenn region.
My first and beloved generation. I don't miss my childhood but Pokemon ruby was my safe space and will be forever, life's better now :)
It really impresses me that I spent my time doing absolutely nothing but listening to all the music, heck, apparently I miss that period a lot.
Generation 3 had by far the best music. Change my mind.
We can't. You're right.
I don't know why, but Gen 3 music hits me right in the feels man.
take me back to when me and my brother would take turns running thru sapphire or just me playing constantly (mainly for the bomb ass soundtrack)
i miss being happy with no worry in the world except getting caught playing at night lol
These little midi horns were the backdrop to some of my happiest memories playing video games. I’ll probably replay emerald once a year for the rest of my life as tradition honestly.
The Littleroot Town melody is my ringtone. It brings back so many good memories.
So many memories.. I miss my childhood... Happy people still upload these vids for us to reminisce
I CANT SLEEP TO THIS - I just get hyped listening to all the NOSTALGIA!
This hits me straight in the feels. Emotions I haven't had in years are bombarding me. Nostalgia is a hell of a thing. Thanks.
The best soundtrack to a Pokemon game and its not even close. The nostalgia is off the charts.
i'm living for this! literally a hoenn song played in my head while doing the dishes and now i am here
Hoenn Region and Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald are the best overall IMO. Even if my Game catridge clock resets and wipes my whole saved game. I'd buy the other version that I don't have and replay it all over again. Fun times when I was a kid.
:’)
I’ll never forget playing my first ever GBA game… it was Pokémon Emerald in the mid 2000’s. What attracted me to it was the fact the cartridge was green when I saw a friend with it and different from all other GBA games. Here I am nearly 20 years later and still the biggest Pokémon fan! Pretty funny way of being introduced to the series!
always a good feeling when you run into a route with rain
i’m totally blown away by the quality of your content!
We can use trumpets now' and then just overused them all over RSE
the best and by far the most nostalgic generation for me!
I'm convinced that this is the music I'll hear before entering the gates of heaven (god willing)
Gen 3 will always be my favorite generation
same here broski
*enlightened
I feel like Pokémon and nostalgia go hand in hand
Littleroot Town remind me my childhood and my dream that never come true.... sure! I Listened this music long time ago! the world so beautiful ... until I know what *LIFE* is... I wish I can come back to my childhood, I would enjoy playin Pokemon games and spend more times for my dream world ... which Im losing now.... :(
Ah, Pokemon Emerald my beloved. We'll never have an awesome endgame like the Battle Frontier. Good times though.
Imagine the grandparents in 20 more years remembering these songs :3
I love hoenn so much I'm just overwhelmed with nostalgia right now... I miss the good old days when I'd play emerald for the thousandth time and endlessly try to catch a feebas and still not get tired. The cutscene where rayquaza descends from the sky gave me a chill down my spine EVERY SINGLE TIME. And when sootopolis goes back to normal and the soundtrack comes back in, it makes u feel like u just had a really good cry :')))
Same here. So many amazing moments, like discovering the Regis and feeling like you cracked a secret code or creating and invading your friend's secret bases. Nice name btw
This is some great nostalgic background music. Thanks you for bringing back the memories.
My first pokemon games
I love the music
21 years already 😢
Same ,this was my first Pokemon game
I cant listen to this without tearing up, it brings me back to my childhood when I'd rush home to play Pokemon Emerald on my Gameboy SP, playing through the night sometimes under my sheets. The things I would do to go back... all I can do now is reminisce on the old days
Still the best gen ever made to that day. Don't @ me, I'm enjoying the music
What an absolute treat. Fond memories of Sapphire. Thank you.
Best Gen of them all
My first time playing this game was with a emulator , and so all the music is most familiar to me with the 2x playback speed
As someone who went to art school and studied counterpoint, I’d like to express that these composers excel at melodic movement. So affective, gets me everytime
