I was a lonely kid most part of my childhood. I'm turning 31 now. When I was 5, 6 or 7 we did not have all these videogames and laptops and PC's. But I remember the day my grandfather gave me a green gameboy (the first model) with a red tape, the charizards one. I guess being so young and lonely made me travel into that world. I was a player and adventurer, travelling through cities and caves, capturing monsters. Pure nostalgia.
Ditto

Hallelujah brother! I still do and just started rewatching the hoenn anime series as well! ^.^
here here ^_^ Cheers mate
My daughter, who’s 4 almost 5, started watching it with me straight from ash’s first moment, I’m starting her off on the old school red version. Thankful that we can bond over this prayers to all of you!
I dont man sorry all the new ones are bad but i am always grabbing my copy of ruby and speed running it
@@DrBluukoVonJangles What season is the series on hoenn?
Gave me goosebumps. All those car rides, all those different feelings. Everything around us changing so rapidly but one thing that stayed the same is the tunes to hum inside our heads.
Ruby was my first game when i first received my Gameboy, i only knew pokemon from Stadium before then, but this changed the game and to this day i still hold fond the memories of beating the elite 4 for the first time, getting my first lvl 100s
and then one day we put the game down without realizing we'd never see our special team again. Pokemon will always mean something as long as I live. Can't believe this game is 21 years old
*sheds tear 😢
I miss my special team 😢
Dude I also had Ruby as my first game. Ill never forget the feeling of being able to run! Ill never forget the feeling of finding out about the Regis. I'll never forget the feeling of discovering Rayquaza like mannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn best game.
i had my level 100 blaziken and had like 20 ribbons from the pokemon contests, for some reason i loved doing those. I also loved the secret base mechanic and every day i would move my base somewhere new and redecorate it
I actually went through and had the games and consoles to move some of my Pokemon from my original Sapphire playthrough into Home on the Switch. Took time, effort, 3 different consoles and 4 different games, but being able to still see and use my Kyogre from all those years ago was worth every penny
It's funny because I would do this setup as a kid. I'm 32, from washington state. To me rain is comforting. It's not sad or depressing at all. I would do weird stuff like take my gameboy into my moms car when it was raining just to feel cozy lol. To this day when im driving in the rain I get that cozy feeling.
You realise 100% of all humans on earth feel the same about rain right? :P
Wtf that's not even remotely true. Tons of people can't stand the rain. I live across the state line from this guy in Oregon so the rain doesn't really bug me either. But the amount of people who leave the northwest for Cali just to get out of the rain is pretty high
@@AstronicI'm from Washington, too, and let me tell you there are TONS of ex-Californians here that all complain that the rain sucks and is miserable. I'll never understand that sentiment lol

You gotta be weird to not enjoy the sound of rain when you're safe and sound

Pokemon Emerald will forever be my favorite Pokemon game, and the all time best Pokemon game in the franchise. Nothing will ever change my opinion on that!
Emerald truly is the GOAT
I felt that way until I played black and white 2.
I agree, generation 3 was and is still my all time favorite. Fantastic music, incredible art direction, perfect balance of brief tutorials and story beats without getting in the way of gameplay.
As much as I love Gen 4, Hoenn had the best music of all the Pokémon games, and I’ll gladly die on that hill
And I will die by your side.
Make it three!
Genwunner here to say that gen 3 def had the best music
Nah u right. I have a portion of my soul dedicated to the soundtrack for the original G/S/C, but nothing hits like Gen 3 music hits.
No need to die on any hills, almost everyone unanimously agrees with this take
I'm from a family that basically hates video games (bad influence, a waste of time and what not), so my parents never got us any consoles, except a couple of times when they bought a ripoff of a PS2 and a PS Vita after we got good exam results, which didn't even last for a month before they broke down. We did, however, had a computer (the boxy one with the giant monitor), that somehow had a GBA emulator and a few ROMs. Pokemon Emerald in that emulator was our first introduction to Pokemon, and a memory that still sticks to me until today, we finished a full playthrough of the game, and Hoenn Pokemon are the ones I'm the most attached to until today
dude holy shit. I didn't have consoles as a kid either so my brother got the GBA emulator on our computer and brought some games to play on it. Pokemon Emerald was the first pokemon game I played cus of that. I still occasionally listen to the soundtrack and get transported back to when me and my brother would play Emerald together.
same for me. I used to play pokemon and pokemon rom hacks on my shitty android tablet . When I grew up I bought myself a switch from working a job, and love my switch so much, but my parents still don't approve :(
I desperately want to play it for the first time again
you couldn't. Even with a Men In Black kind of flash, the experience would not be the same bc ur not the same anyway
So no reason to be sad about it ;-)
Mauville/Mossdeep is BURNED into my brain for the rest of time. Amazing.
32 from Texas. Pokémon Red was one of the only things I had in common with the other kids at school. Probably the only reason I made any friends at all. That and Yu-Gi-Oh once that started picking up steam a bit later.
It’s weird hearing this soundscape again in my 30s. The world around us changed so much. It seemed to last so long, all the adventures I had in those worlds, larger than life. Yet now, it feels so distant. Like an old cassette tape that pops and skips but keeps on playing.
It did seem to last forever then, now everything seems gone in an instant. It’s tough (nearly impossible imo) to tap back into a truly peaceful state of no worry and pure bliss which occurred for me when I played these games. I’d say Hoenn is probably my favorite region. Something about these tunes you can just feel inside. It cannot be replicated or felt quite the same again as each first playthrough.
I'm not crying, you're crying.
No you are crying. I´m not crying.
You're right.

Sorry to keep you waiting lol ❤
Same! It's where my journey started!!!!!😢😂😂😂
My first Pokémon game is Sapphire... memories of figuring out new things myself
I remember how insanely lucky i got, to catch Rayquaza with a GREAT ball on my 4th/5th attempt. Also, finding a feebas after a tew hour of nonstop fishing was pure joy. So much fond memories were made with this game.
27 Marine, listening to pokémon and remembering how my lonely little self wanted to go out into the world from his little farm town so I can meet other pokémon trainers.
I had ran around while playing pokémon everyday out there. I moved to new states but never cared about my surroundings. I delved into the world of pokémon. That's where my friends were. I was familiar with it. I loved it. I wish I could go back there
My parents used to hate the noise from our gameboys in the car so I always just muted it by default to not have to deal with having to remember to turn it down when they were near. I played Pokémon endlessly and didn’t know each game had different music and noise effects for almost a decade until I went back and replayed them in my first apartment. It wasn’t until my roommate asked what gen had my favorite music and I didn’t know what he was talking about.
Why didn’t they buy you headphones?
"Gameboys" @@cs5250
@@cs5250 To be honest: It just wasn't a big deal to us at the time. I was a kid so I was just happy to be playing the game lol I'm sure if I had asked they'd have gotten them for me, just didn't think to. I also eventually got an ipod and just used their headphones to listen to my music, at that point I didn't have any nostalgia about the soundtrack since I just never really listened to it.
I am with you on that. Used to play with no sound for over a decade. Now it's like a whole new world.
That REALLY sucks lol. Half the nostalgia of Pokemon is the music.
WHY IS THIS SO NOSTALGIC!!! I IMMEDIATELY FORGOT ALL MY RESPONSIBILITIES!!
Wonder how long that lasted
Is it normal to cry over this?
Yeah. ❤
Nah probably time to grow up

Pokemon music has penetrated my subconscious and lodged itself in there. It's been 20 years and I can still whistle along.
I had a secret base that I love so much, and it was always raining. The nostalgia is hitting me. I hope they remake this for the nintendo Switch with the berry blending and bases.
20 years already. Time flies. I'm now 31 and still have fond memories of building my house here.
same! I had a house in the main tree of this town. I was just thinking the other day about my childhood; how quick it all goes eh?
@@obrotherwhereartliam because we are so focused on the future and past, people dont pay attention to the present and then wonder why it went by so fast
Hoenn music always helps me calm down after a panic attack or just from stress in general. It's like being a kid again, especially hearing the surfing theme. Spent many hours just exploring the sea so that song holds a special place in my heart.
Ahhh making secret bases in rhe rain ❤️. What a wonderful feeling to have cone fleeting back. A reminder that there are things you haven't discovered yet, that may make you feel this way. Just continue to live, so that you may find them 💪🏾🫶🏾
The routes with rain was such a big achievement to have finally reached after getting surf, thanks for the memories 🙏
Reading all these comments. All in the feels, bro
It was 2003, I'd seen the ads for sapphire and ruby and Foxkids were doing a competition on their website and had begged my parents to enter thinking I'd win (I didn't by the way xD). It didn't matter though because they'd bought the game for my birthday a month later, small memories like that are what I treasure the most about childhood.
I didn;t have the chance to play pokemon in my youth since we couldn't afford to buy the consoles. I only played Emerald on my Gameboy Advanced and I didn't even understand how to play the game. About 1 year ago I decided to try and play one game from every generation on mobile emulators (currently I am playing Pokemon Moon in Citra PC). This was the best decision I have made in my life since I got to live a part of my childhood that I didn't get to experience. I play to finish the game and each one of my pokemon team from every generation holds a special place in my heart. I am looking forward to getting a switch so I can collect a lot of pokemon in the latest games, and I am proud to call my pokemon "family" and these games will forever be my home.
Go on, boy. POKéMON family are here to support you. I've been playing my entire life and I still do when I have the time or energy (f*ck the adult life and responsibilities).
I legitimately cried a lot this because of the nostalgia.
I remember a day my parents were stuck outside for a while at night and it was raining hard and i was a kid and alone at home, just playing pokemon emerald, coincidence that i was at fortree city too at that time.
What I wouldn’t give to get an official sprite-based sequel to these games.
I wish. The graphical transition to 3D from 2D sprites was in my opinion the single biggest mistake the franchise ever did. Worse than introducing temporary, generation-long gimmicks or any other mistake GameFreak did. There's so, so much more soul to the pixelated, low-res sprites of gens 1-5 than what the 3D sprites that came after could ever hope to capture. 5th Gen spritework is amazing, but I didn't like the way they were animated, so my favorites are those of 4th and 3rd gen. It's amazing what they were able to convey in 3rd gen by using sprites no larger than 80 by 80 pixels, with 14-15 different colors. And since the sprites didn't move, they had to convey the feel of each monster with a static pose, so they did their best to make them feel dynamic despite being still all the time. It just hits different, seeing a carefully crafted pixel sprite. Ironically, the 3D models move constantly, but feel much more static due to their lifeless animations. Most often those animations are just a 3D version of what I disliked about the movement of the (otherwise great) Gen 5 animations; They're just static parts moving independent of each other, creating the illusion of being truly animated.
Similarly, the very limited audio chip of GBA forced the composers to be very creative in order to get everything out of the system, and the result is a surprisingly coherent and memorable OST that genuinely sticks with you. Just the diving theme in Gen 3 alone is better than almost anything that came after gen 4.
I've always said, and always will: Limitation breeds creativity. Whether it's the limitation of a small pixel count or that of a weaker sound chip, it gets results because it forces the creator to find a way to portray a grander vision with lesser resources. And when they do, the end result is always spectacular.
makes me feel some type of way. very melancholic but a little comforted
I love Hoenn and I am beyond delighted the algorithm showed me this video today. Thank you!!
This music brings me back to a better more simple time. Cheers to all the adults (and anyone else really) who still enjoy Pokemon!
Playing pokemon Ruby at my dads place while it was raining outside is literally one of my best childhood memories so already bc of the title I gave this vid a like. Thank you.

Everytime I hear the Littleroot theme, it's like my mind is transported to a moment when I was 12 years old at my nan's house. My mum and nan are chatting away and I'm sitting on the sofa with my gameboy advance. Everything is so vivid in my mind, nostalgia is a hell of a thing 😢
gen 3/hoenn seriously was a magical experience. still keep playing it over and over again. the graphics were so beautiful, the music was phenomenal, the mons awesome..... I miss the old days where pokemongames were charming instead of having upgraded 3d graphics but lack the stories and keep lagging and bugging all the time. we sure had some nice adventures back when there were no cursed smartphones and social media.
thx for this sweet nostalgia-trip
Pokémon Ruby was my very first, and it was my first great video game love. I sadly never got to finish it because my cartridge corrupted (old copy handed down from my sister), but I still have so many fond memories of this game and its soundtrack. So many rainy days were spent curled up in a blanket just playing this game. So many hours were spent caring for my team. Though they never made it to my Pokémon Home, I'll never forget them, or the memories we made together.
I still have my original Sceptile and a few others, over 20 years later.
me hiding under the covers with my SP playing Emerald while my parents scream at each other in the background, so nostalgic
Damn, this is so nostalgic. The new Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire (well, "new") are great don't get me wrong but the music and the graphics, while much improved, aren't the same. I remember being blown away by the beauty and creativity of the original Pokemon Sapphire and having a good time playing it. The music was so pretty, idk, there's just something really cozy about it, it's hard to explain. I can't really put it into words, the feeling this gives me, the nostalgia. I remember also playing Pokemon Colosseum around that time and Hamtaro for the GBA and those both are such nostalgic games for me, gah! That plus the rain just kinda lulls me to sleep. Thanks for making this!
You don't know how much this means to so many people
One of my happiest memories from childhood is playing Pokemon Crystal during a rainy day.
Gen 5 will always be my favourite but gen 3 was the entry point into the pokemon world and, honestly, even tho I'm not sad about the past but rather very happy because it happened, I won't change my mind about aging being such a horrible thing when we start thinking about the good times and the nostalgia that, for example, these songs make us feel.
Pure nostalgia! It takes me back to the days of coming home from school and turning the game on and playing for the rest of the day! Those were some of the best times of my life.
I had the pleasure of listening to this for the first time today while doing some paperwork at work. Thank you so much for this wonderful compilation. The Hoenn games have long been my favorites in Pokémon, and it was great to take a brief stroll back for just a little while.
God be with you out there, everybody. ✝️ :)

I hope you are okay and doing well. I'll be 29 this June. Are you also 95 born?
Lol diabetes noob
I’m 29 too! I started playing Ruby shortly after my parents got a divorce. I was around 8 or 9 as well and then I was diagnosed with cancer. This world was my safe space.
I started playing Sapphire when I was first diagnosed with ligma as a kid
This was my favorite region. I can't tell you how hard this brings me back to middle school years and playing with my friends. I remember always picking water starters throughout the series but loving mudkips so much.
Excellent rain effect. It'd go great with Star Fox Adventures and Super Metroid.
Pokemon Emerald is getting the Pokemon Crystal Legacy and Pokemon Yellow Legacy treatment :D If you haven't heard of those two titles, they're improvement patches that makes the games as good as it can possibly be while keeping the spirit and identity of the games intact.
I still remember the moment in 2003 when my father bought me pokemon ruby and he got into the car with the game in his hands. I also remember that I played it all night until I got my first badge.
What an adventure since then, certainly one of my best childhood memories.
Thank you. I never realised how much connection to this silly music and games I have.

I played this game in my twenties and it makes me nostalgic.
....man I miss playing these games for the first time...
I never had a gameboy, but I remember putting Ruby in my DSLite, going to Verdanturf, and plugging it in so I could fall asleep to the music. I'm sure if the top screen didn't abandon ship that thing would've died when the battery exploded in the middle of the night
GBA was my first console, and Ruby was the sole game my parents bought with it. One each for me and my older brother; he picked Sapphire. It was my birthday in 2003, only a few months after the NA release...
Would that we could all go back.
i think on this exact spot my team wiped out for the first time ever. My strongest Pokémon Exploud was poisoned and i had nothing i could do about it so i kept on going in hope that there would be a town nearby not knowing any of the map. Amazing.
So nostalgic! I love this 🥺💖
The impossible hunt for Feebas (Barschwa in German) to have a Milotic on Route 119. Hahahaha... those were the fun times during my childhood. It's funny, that I am still looking up such things online even though Nintendo ruined the games for me long time ago. Thanks for the gem!
