I'm turning 30 this year. Listening to this makes me realize how fast the years have gone by, but also how much I treasure my childhood, and the (probably already distorted) memories I have from it.
I deeply cherish those summer nights I spent with my Pokémon Pearl, playing side by side with my little brother, who had Pokémon Diamond instead. We had separate beds but I still ended up crossing to his bed anyway so we could hide under the blankets, DS on our hands, and fool around in the Underground for hours, sometimes jokingly challenging the other to finding the best items.
Blessed be this game, its music, and the people who made it. I pray that the memories, the things I felt, never leave my mind or my heart until my last breath.

Indeed, being from the same generations with similar memories, I can also feel the nostalgia you just described. Today's kids will hardly understand the simplicity of older games, which still relied on our imagination more than on graphics

I'm so happy that I have the same memories as you, but with my little brother. While I played Diamond, he played Pearl. Some nights, I would bring my mattress and sleep on the floor next to his bed so we could play Pokémon together and share our achievements. Exploring the Underground was also a blast. I remember showing off my base and he was super impressed. Those were truly incredible times!
Also turning 30 this year... enjoy every moment so you can have even more beautiful memories!

      That's a great memory.
I recall getting Pearl on my 13th birthday. I reserved it at Target near where I lived, went to brunch at a nice restaurant for my birthday then went and got the game and my folks and i drove to a park, walked around, had ice cream, went to get pizza afterwards and then drove home and passed by a garden nursery and bought some plants then returned home. I made it all the way to Commander Mars and lost to her Purguly 3 times and finally beat her as soon as we arrived home. Was a great day.

Saaame. I also remember the commercial that came out advertising blue and red, with the Pokemon climbing on a link cable to get from one kid's apartment to another. Pokemon Silver was the first game I ever preordered (a whole year before the release!). I put the receipt on the fridge and excitedly awaited the day I could take it to Game Stop to get my copy of Silver. Ooooo and then remember how the games had paper manuals inside? I bet it was hard to decide if I should look at the manual first, or pop the game into my gameboy on the ride back home from GameStop.

I'm 25 going on 26 and diamond was my first mainline game. My sister and I were 8 when this game came out and she had pearl. She didn't play pokemon after these games and I don't know how she feels about that time period or if she even remembers it that much, but it is a time I can't forget. When we played pokemon (either these games or FRLG) we didn't fight, we helped each other all the time because we were so young and dumb that some of the puzzles would stump us😅So when one of us figured it out, it was a huge moment for both of us! I still get this overwhelming feeling of warmth when I hear eterna forest so thank you for starting with that one😄

same situation, my sister was never huge in to video games like i was, but we had a conversation about it the other day and she told me how much she really loved playing pokemon and pikmin together when we were kids, she told me she got a switch just to get pikmin 4 and it made me really happy, both of us being in our 20's and on different trajectories makes you lose track of stuff like that, but its cool knowing she remembers that stuff as fondly as i do.

26 here, going on 27 in a few days. I had Diamond when I was around 10 and my younger brother had Pearl. Me and my younger bro were racing to finish the game first but I stopped after finding out my best friend, who we were also competing against, was also far in the game. Being a kid at the time, that was devastating to me since no one likes know they are going to lose, so I pouted a bit inside my head for a while and then took my time with the rest of the game. And I’m glad younger me did, it was a wonderful experience I’ll never forget. To be transported to another world like this… even if it’s behind a screen, I will always consider Sinnoh my second home away from home. Thank you GameFreak ❤

Sinnoh will forever be my favorite. I got into Diamond and Pearl when my two cousins (twins, 2 years older than me) were playing Diamond and Pearl respectively. I didn't know what a DS was, let alone Pokemon or how any of it worked because I was so young. I remember one Christmas asking for a DS Lite and Pokemon Pearl (the game my cousin Andy had, AKA my biggest role model of the time. I was like an annoying little brother to the both of them, but Andy especially).
The years that followed were filled with incredible memories of playing Sinnoh with the two of them whenever we would see each other. We sought to do everything there was to do in these games, and it was a complete blast. No video game can quite match the nostalgia that these give me, and I frequently come back to play the originals for that purpose.
I am now 22, nearly 23, meaning I am now older than Andy was when he passed away a few years back due to unexpected and sudden cancer development in his body. I mentioned my nostalgia, and great memories associated with these games, and them contributing to Andy's legacy in some way is a big part of that. I would not be the man I am today without Andy's influence on me, and I cannot be more grateful that I got to know, grow up with, and have fun with him. He touched the lives of so many people in his short 22 years, and I like to do all I can to spread even just a tiny bit of his influence, because the world deserves to know about him.
I hope everyone who has fond memories of these games can keep them forever, because if something means a lot to you, it is effectively a part of you. Keep those memories close, and the people you share them with closer. That, and remember to keep on smiling.

Andy must've been amazing. I wished I had the same determination as you habe with sharing something/someone important.
I had a really rough time about 2-4years ago.
I was saved by Jesus Christ one year ago and now am in the happiest state i have ever been. He truly saved my life and gives me hope every second. I hope that everyone would give him a chance.
He was the reason why I let go of my anxieties, stress, bad memories,my regrets and all the weight the world gives to one.
Please I know at first it sounds unrealistic but see for yourselves if Jesus is truly the only Way,the Truth and the Life(John 14:6) that leads to salvation from death. Way too many people for this truth for it to be considered "fantasy".
So pls read the gospels of Matthew,Mark,Luke and John for yourselves.
Not the whole bible, but just these 4 books.
See for yourselves if Jesus said the truth and if he is worth trusting in.
I hope you open the door for him at least once and I pray that it may be well with you and that such a tragedy may not happen again to you. Have a blessed day in Jesus' mighty Name,Amen🙏❤️

      @Dslayer62 9 месяцев назад

This could be incredibly presumptuous as I don't know whats caused your life to suck, but if you don't mind some unsolicited advice from a stranger:
Do something (good) radical. Move from your city to a large town, orvice versa. Heck even move to another continent if you can. It took me working full time while studying full time and working 2 extra jobs on the weekends/after my normal job to save up for it, but now I'm living in London for 2 years. It sucks and I miss my family, but it's also the most amazing and exciting things I've ever done in my life and I'm maturing so much as a person. If money is an issue, just remember that there are a lot of countires out there with a super low cost of living - and you won't be the first person taking this kind of journey so there is plenty of advice on the internet.
Pain from stagnation brings you nothing, pain from change brings you the world. Change something in your life. If you don't want to go as grand as moving overseas, choose a pub, or a park, or any other place that might have regulars and become one of them. It will suck at first, and may take months to get better, but eventually things will shift.

Couple weeks later: when I was at Target. As a surprise my dad asked if I wanted a Nintendo DS and a game to come with it I knew immediately what to get: and that was Pearl. I remember leaving the store excited grinning really hard. The smell of the rain coming off of the ground. We went straight home I unboxed my DS did not care at all about the Manual or features. I put in Pokemon Pearl and I spent the next 2 days with very little sleep playing my 1st ever Pokemon game. :)

I have a love/hate relationship with nostalgia, it makes me sad that things can't be the way they used to but I'm also happy I got to have those experiences in the first place. Boy am I being hit in the feels right now though, life is so tough sometimes and I want nothing more than to escape to the simpler times. Good luck to everyone else in their life's journey, I hope we can all come to live happy lives. ❤️

I’m 27 going to be 28 in a few months, and Sinnoh games had a big part in my childhood. Out of all the regions I’ve played, this one seems to be the most nostalgic to me. Maybe it’s the slower easier pace, or the music, or how things with the legendaries make the world of Pokémon more large and important. Regardless, I owe a lot to Gen 4; they may not be my favorite games, but they sure are fun and memorable

Then you're packing up because you're moving house only to find your old DS again, see that your pokemon game is in the ds and restart the game for the first time in years. only to be buried in childhood sentiments and memories.

23 years old and grew up watching the Pokemon anime and trading cards on the playground. My aunt owned Pokemon Diamond, and I thought all her Pokemon were so cool. I'll never forget opening this game along with my black DS lite on Christmas 2006. I remember I actually restarted the game because I reached Oreburgh and wanted to catch an Onix, but my party was already full. I didn't realize I could store Pokemon in my PC.
Oh, and I was also really frustrated that I couldn't get past the rocks in the cave about Jubilife. I remember asking my dad what to do. He took my DS for a bit and then handed it back to me, saying, "I don't know either bud, your Pokemon look pretty tough." It's funny looking back and realizing that he too had no idea what to do.
Also, one of the first Pokemon I ever caught was a Shinx. I tend to avoid physical electric types, but I still really like the Shinx line just because I liked it as a child. As a kid, I named my Shinx "Showtime" because it looked like he was wearing a suit/tuxedo. To this day, I name every Shinx I catch "Showtime."
I never actually beat the game. I was an impatient kid, so I just broke the thing with action replay codes instead. Years later, I sold it to buy Smash 4 on my 3DS, since I thought I had "grown out" of Pokemon. Years after that, my brother gave me his copy of Platinum when he lost interest in Pokemon, and I played it in college. It was fun to finally do what my kid self could not: best the Sinnoh region legitimately and take down Cynthia.
Now, years and years and years later, I feel emotional listening to this music. Listening to it, I wish that I could go back to those days of childhood wonder. I remember hiding under the covers at night, battling with my Monferno and trying not to let my parents catch me. I remember going to all these major cities and being wowed by how cool and new everything was. Nowadays, life is so stressful. My car is always having issues, I'm always losing my money to taxes, and groceries just seem to get more and more expensive. I'd give anything to be a kid again, getting lost in the Sinnoh region and staring slackjawed at my DS.
Sorry for rambling. I just saw other people sharing their memories of the Sinnoh region and I wanted to share my own. If you've read this far, feel free to reply with your own goofy, stupid, and/or emotional memories of these games. I'd love to read them. And thanks for reading through my memories, I guess.

15 years later, and not a day goes by that I don't think about Sinnoh. I had no friends or family to share these games with growing up. My family never showed interest, and all the kids at school said I shouldn't even be playing Pokémon.
Aimlessly wandering the Safari Zone and the slopes of Mt. Coronet, I caught Pokémon I'd never seen before. I have so many memories of just wandering this region, doing anything I just so happened to come across.
The melancholy sounds of this region will live on in my heart for all time.
    Gen 4 forever. 💙

It’s something weird where I feel like I was a kid in 2007-08, experiencing this game for the first time. It’s like the game made me envision what it felt like back in the day. When I played Legends Arceus, I get what I call “Nostalgia Goosebumps” whenever I hear the old themes such as Eterna in the Heartwood. It’s so weird how I never had personal experiences with these games but I feel a strong connection to them.

Lemme tell you little bro, it's not too late to continue talking to them about pokemon. Take this time to value what you have right now. I'm 22 and would love to experience my teenage years again when everything was so new. Everything is still so new to you, we can miss those times but as you are still a child take a deep breath and remember what you still have. No responsibilities and all the time in the world to just enjoy the day. Do your schoolwork and when that's done you get every moment after to yourself. Don't chase girls (or boys) either, let it come naturally and don't force anything that doesn't NEED to happen. This is what I've learned at least since being 16. Life gets better, just... different. Time is non-renewable unlike money so always put time first and spend that time doing things you love. Highly recommend learning an instrument, it helps with retaining memory as you get older and provides alot of relief playing video game music especially on piano. Take care.

In 2014-2016 I spent hours playing Pokémon (especially Diamond, Pearl and Platinum) in order to get away from the crap I've been through. It was a rough time, my father was NOT the best father ever, and to save me from depression, I always played Pokémon in order to be happy.
Here I am, 10 years later, facing other problems in adult life (Stress, OCD, very high anxiety, anhedonia/depression etc), and I'm completely broken by these problems as well. I thought of making my tradition and replay all the main Pokémon games, something that gave me joy back then, and something that brings me joy now. Pokémon is a special franchise to me, even with the failures in the recent games, I still love the franchise a lot.
I'm fulfilling my dream as a kid. I only had access to the Gens 1-5, so I never got the chance to play Gens 6-8 (I played a bit of Violet). Now I have access to them as a adult. Don't worry, little me, I will make your dreams come true. I'm completely broken right now, drown in mental health problems, but I never gave up on Pokémon. Listening to these OSTs makes me happy, and as well as sad thinking that I'll never be able to experience life as a kid again.
It was fun while it lasted, but now I must try to make the most out of life right now. Thanks for posting this video.

@@caelestisdeumion79283 months have indeed passed and much changes were made. Started intense therapy to improve myself, and it paid off!
Anhedonia? Gone. OCD? 90% gone. Stress? Been very minimized, at least compared to before. I came back to this video because I noticed on how treasured the Pokémon games were for me, it makes me sad that the hate towards the Switch games (which I also love) made me drift away from the franchise that saved me from depression when I was little. It was overwhelming to me.
I decided that I'm gonna dedicate myself into loving Pokémon at the same ammount yet again, no matter what the hate from the people say. It still is my favorite franchise of all time (not just games, but everything else), and it will be until the day I die.
I'm so happy you came to check on me, we don't know each other but I can tell you're amazing. Life got much better from me than it was when I first posted this comment, 3 months ago, I hope it makes it for more people as well.

@@caelestisdeumion7928 First of all, thank you for reaching out to me after so long! 3 months have passed and tons of stuff happened, and mainly good ones, to be honest.
I started taking therapy more specifically on topics that used to hurt me a lot, and my therapist became my best friend and a vital ally to me during this dark time. She, alongside my treasured friends, made me look at life in another way entirely.
And as a result of many months taking care of myself and going to therapy? My anhedonia is completely gone, my OCD is 80% or so gone (still have annoying intrusive thoughts, but way more manageable, my daily stress became way less frequent due to meditation effects. I feel like life is going in a good direction right now.
I came back to this OST video because of how I miss my childhood and how Pokémon is such a important franchise to me. It built me as a person, it's my comfort game franchise, and I dare say my favorite franchise ever made. And SPECIFICALLY Gen 4, this gen is perfect in every single way for me. I had drifted apart from Pokémon for 3 years (2021-2023), but recently I've been having nostalgic waves coming back to me, memories I've built with these games, not just Gen 4 but all the other gens. I had drifted apart due to all the hate surrounding the newer Pokémon games, and how judgemental people were to me or others (mainly on RUclips, Reddit and Twitter).
But now, I've decided, I'm gonna get back to playing Pokémon because I treasure it. There's no other franchise quite like it to me. After I finish the game I've been playing, I'm gonna boot up Pokémon Diamond, followed by HeartGold and Platinum and relive the memories of the games that saved my life from having depressing as a child. If this OST video alone is enough to make me cry, I can't even imagine what replaying the game will be like.
If any of you are feeling bad like I was and is reading this post, don't give up. The pain is temporary, as is everything in life. The memories we carry from the past are something special to all of us, we need to learn from the past and make a better future than what we're going through. You all can do this, I know it!
Thanks again for checking in on me after 3 whole months, friend!

I basically grew up alone, and by alone I mean like, without all of the experiences and adventures a kid MUST go through. This game was, among the others, something I used to escape from reality.... playing as the protagonist, reading all of the dialogues, always being at the center of everyone's attention (in game) made me feel what I couldn't feel in real life... And thus why this collection breaks me up. Because growing up, I realized how lonely I was. Completely submerged inside this and other games, their adventures, their stories, the friendships, always thinking "one day... one day I'll experience all of this in my life". I'm grateful for this game, but at the same time, the less I think about it, the better

I feel like I had a decent childhood but as I get older (i’m 23) the lonelier I feel and these osts just make me sad. I wish it was easy for me to have genuine friendships.

I remember walking through toys r us as a kid and seeing glaceon and leafeon featured for the first time in a little Pokémon booklet along with this game, and then going home with the game and meeting up with the other neighborhood kids who also got the game, and sitting under a tree in the yard on a sunny day to play our hearts out. Such good carefree times ❤

Listening to this gave me some heavy nostalgia, Pearl and Platinum were my first Pokémon experiences so it's always a treat to hear the OST again

I'm Turning 27 this year. Nostalgia is a part of me since I finished highschool. I never though about the future, about what job to do, what to study , etc...
For the first year of college , I chose to study one subject I liked at highschool, biology, I gave up after the first semester because of a catastrophic oral presentation , I'm a very sensitive person and not a brave nor courageous one... When looking back I liked that first year...
When I told my parents I wanted to stop that year, this is the first time of my life when I faced their disapointment, Mom stressed that much that she had a stroke, It might be because of me or not but It happend just after my announcement. My mom and dad gave me a golden childhood, the amount of guilt I felt was enormous.
Still, my faith in one of my dream was strong and I decided to travel oversea to study coding in order to "create video games ". But you see, I'm not very courageous , being alone oversea far from my family plus realising I don't like coding. I stopped after the first year and cameback to my parents house...
At this point my faith in me was a void, I gave up twice , I gave up to easily... My parents stopped believing in me too. It's at this moment I realized that my golden relationship with my parents during the first 18 years it's over. I chose the most accessible bachelor at the local college . Finished it , this gave a little hope to my parents but honestly I didn't give a fuck about what I studied here and didn't plan to work on the field, So I ended up graduated in something I will not make use of. At least I did''nt give up....
I started online business , I saw in this a hope of getting money, may be climb the social ladder a little bit with this money. I wanted to make my parents proud of me again. I wanted them to look at me like when everything was alright.
I made 3.5K of net profit during one month after 4 month of work , I could of continue but... but i'm not very brave and working on online business made me felt empty, i was just doing it , but didn't feel anything during this... So again, i Stopped...
It's been 4 years now that all of this happend, 4 years that I live in my parents homes, doing 2-3 month of work at some places , sometimes as a farmer, sometimes as a clerk... I'm often depressed and I see the disapointment in my parents eyes, they don't know what to do and neither do I. After all, I can say what I Want or imagine a plan for my life, I don't believe in my words anymore and they don't believe in my words too. I'm scared to study or to find another job because I end up giving up everytimes...
I smoke weed, masturbate , I'm wasting my time... Plus I often isolate myself , don't answer to my friends on social media , etc... I'm even scared of working on myself, what a mess I am.
I see my parents getting older and older , I'm ashamed that I can't help them because I can't even help myself... I'm not a good person when I think about it..
When I see theses kind of videos, It brings too much emotion , I cry , I can't even talk , I got all these memories of my childhood, perfect, golden ,amazing childhood with my parents and my big bro , I remember going out with them , I would play pokemon and other game on my gameboy , we laughed, played all together , I had good grades at school so no problems. Oh what a peacefull times , I miss these days so much... :"(
