Interesting, I feel similar nostalgy about Pokemon Ruby and Leaf Green.
I wonder if the current kids will feel this way about Scarlet/Violet.

I’m an adult listening to Pokémon ost’s on RUclips remembering a game I bought 24 years ago ( that’s still my favorite in the series ).
It's very nice to see stuff like this around. I ran into some financial issues a year or so back and had to sell my HG copy along with the original box. I miss it, but I wasn't using it, and I hope whoever has it now is enjoying it as much as I did.
The storytelling skills are amazing. It's engaging from start to finish.
I'm listening to this while playing HeartGold and it actually is raining outside. Surreal and comforting.

I miss the ds era of the series. Could run gen 1/3 on gba, and gens 2/4/5 on ds. The remakes for gen 1 and 2 are a gold standard and they’ve yet to top themselves from this stretch

I got this game on my 14-year-old birthday with a Nintendo DSI ❤ I still have the DSI and this game I am 28 now 😭 Gen 2 is my favorite!

While I personally consider gen 3/4 to be the peak of pokemon design(pokemon themselves, gameplay, mechanics and all the variety of side games offered), Johto in gen 2 was probably the most rewarding to play in terms of experience.
All this is taken in account of me having limited access to gen 4(black and Pearl), and no access to any of the games past that. From gen 3 back, I am quite acquinted.
My opinion on the various game gens.
Gen 1 always felt too unpolished in spots to really be a smooth transition, gen 2 fixed it all. Gen 3 tuned it and gen 4 gave it a spit shine.
Gold, Silver, and Crystal were the best. Shame where Pokémon is today.
Right , I wish they would at least put them up on NSO gameboy. I haven’t even bothered with the dlc for scarlet violet. I’m replaying BDSP I know a lot of people hate it but it feels like classic pokemon at least.

Oh, I LOVE Johto. It's such a beautiful and aesthetically pleasing region. The level curve and Pokemon distribution may be absolute shit but that's a problem with the game design. The region is absolutely gorgeous!

I tried the Heartgold version upon release and ugghhhh it was a bad experience and I found it years later in my collection and still was a bad idea… I don’t really appreciate it but it is a remake of the gs games and crystal im a fan of… huh oh well
