Thank you for sharing your mock up idea. I have been putting off selling blankets because I didn't want to "waste" all that fabric and time making mockups.
Hi Kayla.....Lynette here....and you did this all on your lil machine before you got the BIG DADDY!!! lol.....Good going....and you are using embrilliance fonts right? Love your channel....I still do not see you tape the water soluble onto the fabric....will it embroider on it if you don't??? thanks for the info
Hi Lynette! Yes it will still embroider if you don't. Sometimes I don't use it on the minky dot because in my opinion it doesn't make much of a difference. Check out my video on using WSS vs. not.
I haven't! I wash on delicate and hang to dry. No softener. That's also how I advise all my customers and I've never had any issues or complaints. Joanns definitely isn't the best. I also get flannel from Cali Quilt Co on Etsy 😊
Question: do you every put like a piece of cotton in between the top and bottom layers, I’m think something to make the blanket a little warmer??? By the way i loved the video, ❤️
I love your videos! I’m new to sewing lovey’s and blankets and i am wanting to buy a embroidery machine! But not sure which one i should buy for a beginner! Could you suggest!
I like your job and I wonder if someday you will show us a blanket with a name some how in the bottom (top) of the blanket instead of the corner...just curious. May The Lord bless your hands and product of these. :)
Thank you Adassa! No i don't. I always wash in cold water and hang to dry and have had very minimal, if any, shrinking so I always advise my customers the same.
I'm really happy to have found your channel. I live in Canada and I am now starting my small baby blanket business. You have been my inspiration. God bless you
They look adorable. Do you prewash the flannel? I’ve made the exact quilt, minky with flannel, and the flannel shrunk sooo much I had to take it apart.
I don't! I wash in cold and hang to dry and I haven't had that problem. I keep hearing it more and more though and I have to admit it's making me nervous lol
Not stupid at all! Honestly, it depends on the pattern of the fabric. If the pattern can only go one way, like in my real time blanket video where the bears only go one way otherwise they're upside down, then I make the width the longest. If it's just a collage pattern and it doesn't particularly matter. I hope that makes sense.
Do you embroider on the side for people? I have been looking for someone to help me with embroidering names just for personal gifts. I dont sell. Please let me know.
@@KaylaKrische I am making a rag quilt and it's almost done I would just have to unsew that last bottom corner (square) and send it to you and then have you send it back so could you please send me your address are you in Nevada?
I only use tender touch on the backside of my garment when I make onesies. I use either cutaway or tear away stabilizer on my blankets. I don't really have a preference to which one is better. Honestly in this video all I had was cut away left so that's what I used LOL

Not sure what “float it” means.
I float the fabric on the hoop with adhesive spray instead of hopping it how you normally would 🙂

Would a walking foot help with feeding the fabric evenly
Yes it does! I use a walking foot on mine.
Minky fabric still likes to move though because it's so soft, so I still double up on pins lol
Just ordered fabric! I'm excited can't wait to make blankets. My friend just announced she's expecting a girl.

Thank you so much!
Is the dinosaur one minky fabric or flannel? Do you mind sharing where you get that?
All of the patterns are super snuggle flannel and the backing is minky dot fabric, both from Joanns
Do you just float that top stabilizer as well
That seems like an awful waste of fabric. I make them also and there’s a better way to make them so there’s not as much waste.
Forgive me, I'm confused as to what you think I'm wasting. What are you referring to?
If you sew without pressing, you will never have the correct even measurements.
Thank you! I haven't ran into that problem yet when I mark out my lines, but I will keep that in mind for the future!

Why do you draw your cutting lines and use a scissors? Why not rotary?

Hi Linda! I use two rows of pins because minky fabric likes to slide and I don't want my fabrics to shift as I sew. Can never have too many pins 😉
