My Buzz Ricksons crewneck is my pride and joy! Incredibly soft and cozy.

I own a few pieces from TSG and they are truly amazing and worth every penny. You’re spot on with their hoodie. I own the same one in oatmeal and unfortunately did put it in the dryer and it shrinks for sure but eventually did stretch out. Their denim is also super amazing and very well made. Lastly for about $120 (CAD) I got a loop wheeled shirt as well which is extremely comfortable and nice

Great review! I’m a big fan of the UES Puca Purcara sweatshirts. They tend to be a bit more affordable than the other Japanese brands as well - and I’d argue they are as good or better than most.

Just bought a Freenote sweatshirt watching this. Thanks!! Note- I’ve had luck steaming and hand stretching sweatshirts that fit more snug than I intended

Glad you liked the video! And that's a good tip for stretching sweatshirt fabric!

The real McCoys 10oz sweatshirts are currently my favorite to wear. I know this isn’t a heritage brand but reigning champ makes amazing quality sweatshirts as well.

Another great video. I love The Real McCoys stuff as well. I can also suggest Warehouse, which makes some of the softest stuff out there.

Thanks Alex! I really should have presented a better list (Warehouse, Buzz Rickson etc). So many great brands out there with this type of thing.

I got away from sweatshirts when I got into the hobby, but bought a 3sixteen heavyweight zip up last year and my god is it beautiful. The rolls on the arms are ridiculous. Looking forward to snagging a UES pullover in a bit. Really wanna get a wonderlooper one as well! I have a couple staple freenote pieces, gonna look into their sweaters now too!

Brave Star makes some really solid knitwear for cheap.
Got their 25oz sweatshirt and 20oz hoodie and wear them for everything. Wore the hoodie pretty hard for the past 3 years and just mended a small hole an hour ago.

It’s not loopwheeled and the fabric is kind of boring but flint and tinder have 10 year guaranteed hoodies that are made in the US. They’re really decent. Doesn’t compare in beauty or fabric to sweatshirts I have from deluxware or other Japanese brands, but it sure can take a beating.

Those ones sound cool! It's good to have both: ones that are luxury and others that can take a beating.

The "it will last you the rest of your life" marketing myth is strong. Saw someone post on IG a 14 oz denim jacket they wore almost daily for five years that had been darned within an inch of its life, and someone commented (with a shocking amount of likes) that it must be poor quality if it only lasted five years. People have internalized this idea that heavy heritage wear is indestructible. When you wear it 10 times a year, then yeah maybe it will last you forever.
Another non-heritage brand who makes great sweatshirts is House of Blanks, they're made in the Toronto area and sell for ~$100. 100% cotton, cross-grain, 12 oz/yd². Their parent company does the hoodies for Supreme and Todd Snyder.

Yeah, the "forever" myth is pervasive haha....It took a few pairs of jeans and tees and boots for me to realize that message is simply untrue. And then if you own 50 of everything and consequently it does last 50 years, it's because you literally spent like $50k on a wardrobe (a downpayment on a house in many States), so it's kind of fake success at that point haha....Anyways, preaching to the choir lol
I'll check out the Toronto brand! That sounds awesome! And my mom used to live in Toronto, so anything from there I find of interest. Thanks so much
