Thanks for this video - clear, short, and well-demonstrated! I would actually be fine with watching you stitch the whole thing, because hand sewers have efficient ways of sequencing stitches, angling the needle, and holding the materials, and it is helpful to see how you sew.
Literally just did a quick Google search a couple days ago to find out if anyone had instructions on making your own hook and eyes, (found nothing in the first couple of pages and didn't have time to dig any deeper). I'm not currently working on anything that I need them for, but sometimes my brain goes "hey, you know what'd be cool?..." plus my hubs has started learning about metal smelting and some of the molds you can get for that are for making wires, so double coolness right? Great explanation, and makes me much less intimidated to tackle them in the future, since I do have plenty of wishlist projects that will undoubtedly include them.
Oh wow! That sounds fun and interesting! I am working on the video about how to make your own as we speak! It's ridiculously easy! Keep an eye out for it.
Great tutorial thank you! As for your drawings if one sees them out of context they might seem like something else with unshaven parts 🤭 5:10 and 7:03 😂😂😂😂
Thank you! I know this video is a bit old, but do you have any suggestions on how to line everything up properly if you’re using a bar instead of an eye? They don’t stay in place as well and since the fabric overlaps it’s hard to see where the right spacing is
Yes..that is so true. I like to sew on the hook first, then I will place a pin through the other side where I think I want the bar to go, then put the hook through the pin. Then once I have the placement, I mark it with chalk and pin them in place at both ends. I should do a short video about that...
Sorry, I meant to put it in my description. It's call a Simflex Pleating Gauge. Here is a link to it on Amazon. I am so rusty with hand sewing anything but I want to salvage a Victoria's Secret sports bra with a broken, separating zipper closure. It's too costly to have replaced and since I have no idea how to do this I decided to sew on four coat hooks and eyes. I need to tackle this project very soon and will review your instructions again.
Big tip: alternating hooks and eyes down the front of a garment will stop them coming undone as you wear it.
I've heard that, but I've never had to do that because I've never had a problem with them coming undone.

Thank you! That's good to know. I'm never quite sure how much sewing to show! Lol
Thank you for clear detailed explanation ❤
Thank You! This makes so much more sense than how I learned originally!! ☮️💞🙏🏼
Glad it was helpful!

Thankyou, I was struggling with hooks and eyes
My pleasure. I am glad you found it useful!

Yeah....I did notice that. I must admit that I am surprised that you are the first to mention it.

I want to get big ones to sew them on the sides of a pair of trousers that are too big on my waist. Is that possible?
Thanks

I love it and use it all the time! I put info on the description
I just fixed an expensive dress where the hook broke off on first wear. Thank you!
Очень интересно! Спасибо! 😊👏👏👏

Does the hook really have to be sew upside down? I mean the hook is in the front looking not at the back? I hope you get what I mean. 🤣🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
I'm not sure what you mean
